Fire Leopards

The next day, right after a quick breakfast, the group prepared to head out on their quest.

Crusher was the most eager to leave the palace immediately. Queen Zilina had been eyeing him all morning, her gaze curious and observing, as if she was trying to analyze him, expecting him to do something out of the ordinary.

Unfortunately for her, he was willing to keep himself until he was out of that place.

"Crusher, are you still paranoid about Queen Zilina?" Blaze asked, confronting his rival with AJ at the balcony before anyone else was done preparing for their quest.

"She KNOWS something, Blaze!" Crusher hissed. "She knows something about me, and she won't stop staring! It's freaky and uncomfortable!"

"Crusher, you're overreacting," AJ shook his head.

"Think what you want. I'm not taking the chance," Crusher huffed before driving off to Pickle, who had just arrived with a wave.

"Hey, B, what's up with Crusher?" Darington questioned as he drove towards the red truck.

"He's suspicious of Queen Zilina since she keeps staring at him and his wings," Blaze replied.

"Well, he isn't wrong," Stripes shrugged, driving in with the others. "I've noticed Queen Zilina staring and looking all... cautious with narrowed eyes,"

"Maybe she's just being paranoid," Gabby suggested.

"But why would she be?" Watts wondered. "She has never seen us before!"

"I'm sure it's nothing," Blaze assured them. "She's probably just worried that there might be traitors in our group,"

"Well, if there was gonna be a traitor, Crusher would be it," Starla huffed before yelping when Watts elbowed her. "Ow!"

"Starship, be nice," she glared at the cowgirl truck.

"Yeah," AJ agreed. "I'm sure that there's an explanation for what Queen Zilina is doing,"

"What IS Queen Zilina doing?" Sparkle asked, driving to the group curiously.

"It's nothing, Sparkle," Blaze patted her head with a smile. "Just a small issue. Nothing severe,"

Unbeknownst to them, Queen Zilina had been nearby and had heard every word of the conversation. She sighed, smiling sadly at the red truck and the child's loyalty to her before shaking her head and driving forward to greet them before they left.

She knew well enough that it was no small issue...

Meanwhile, on top of a mountain, stood a tall, rickety old tower. Inside, a midnight blue truck stood by her crystal ball, a pair of dark blue wings on her back, with fade indigo top tips and blue green bottom tips, along with a silver diamond in the middle.

"Oh, sister," she evilly chuckled, watching as Queen Zilina sent the group off. "You are sending CHILDREN to the rescue of your best guards? And to stop ME? Oh, you have grown more foolish over the years, haven't you?"

"Our son and his friends are anything but a children!" Phoenix yelled, her wings of yellow with red tips and silver with yellow flames, along with a blue diamond in the middle fluttering in rage as she and her husband Flame were in a huge cage behind the evil fairy truck.

"Oh, really now?" the evil fairy truck turned to them with eye roll. "I'm shaking in my wings,"

"Blaze is powerful, Nina," Flame snarled, glaring up at her as his yellow and dark yellow wings with orange flames, fade yellow spots, along with darker yellow spike on each side of his wings and a golden brown diamond in the middle flapped and closed irritatingly. "Don't you DARE underestimate him,"

"Oh, of course," Nina rolled her eyes once more before turning away. "He is WEAK, running off to the mortal world with his best friend. Getting mortal trucks to help him out. A REAL powerful fairy needs no help!"

She growled at the image before she twirled her tires around, releasing red-black magic into the air. Suddenly, fire leopards appeared beside her, each of them with glowing orange eyes and fiery red and black fur.

"But I suppose your right," Nina smirked, turning back to her prisoners. "I shouldn't underestimate him. Him, his sister and all of his friends, I suppose,"

"Don't you hurt them!" Phoenix pleaded.

"And why should I not?" Nina cackled. "If Zilina just did as I demand and hand over her throne, I would never have to do this,"

"You being queen will destroy the peace between the fairy world and the rest of the realms!" Flame roared out.

"Yes, yes, whatever you say," Nina ignored him and turned to her minions. "Now, go on, my pets. Go and take down those fairy amateurs!"

The fire leopards gave a bow before filing out of the tower and disappearing in a smoke of flames.

Meanwhile, Blaze, AJ, Sparkle and their friends fluttered over the large, vast fields of the fairy world. The group admired the view as they flew, except Crusher, who was still struggling to control his balance and his flying because of his large wings.

"Argh, are we there yet?" he groaned, glaring at his wings and wishing they were a little smaller.

"If you didn't want to go, you could have stayed at the palace," Starla rolled her eyes.

"Well, excuse ME, I didn't request for large wings like these," Crusher grumbled.

"Hey, B, do you think you can shrink down Crusher's wings?" Darington asked, flying to the red truck's side.

"Could get him to stop being annoying," Stripes commented, earning a nudge from Zeg.

"Stripes rude," the dino truck scolded.

"Fairy wings don't work that way," Blaze told them. "Each wing represents a person's magic and personality. You can't just shrink down or enlarge wings,"

"Still doesn't explain how large they are!" Crusher hissed. "They're more like have angel wings than fairy wings,"

"Maybe it's showing that you have a big heart despite being so rude and mean sometimes!" Pickle grinned, fluttering to the other's side.

"Pshh, highly unlikely," Crusher huffed.

"At least you're honest," Watts chuckled.

Gabby shook her head at them before looking forward. There was a sudden burst of flames, and she gasped when something, or someone, appeared in front of them...

"Woah! What are those?!"

"Huh???" Everyone looked ahead and gasped.

"Woah!" AJ halted mid-flying. "Fire leopards!"

The group yelled and began to scatter as the fire leopards began to burst out fire from their mouths with every roar.

"Where'd these fire leopards come from?!" Stripes cried out.

"Nina must've made them to stop us!" Blaze growled.

"How are we suppose to stop them?!" Darington asked.

"I'll be able to bend their fire," AJ replied. "but we still need another way to stop,"

"This might be a perfect way to test out your magic!" Sparkle told them.

"Zeg and friends have magic?!" Zeg's jaw dropped.

"Yes, you do," Blaze nodded. "but we need the right magic to stop those fire leopards,"

"How many are there?!" Starla questioned.

"About four of them," Gabby answered, fluttering to Watts's side. "but how do we know if we have the right magic?"

"You can try to experiment," AJ said, holding out his hands in an attempt to deflect the fire blasts. "Ack! Better hurry, though! I don't think I can hold them back for much longer,"

Stripes looked down at his tires and twirled them around, orange magic fluttering out. He stared at them in wonder before turning and diving down towards the fire leopards.

"Alright! Let's experiment!" he held out his tires in front of them. "RAAAWR!"

His roar burst into it's own magic, mixing with the one in his tires, unleashing a magical orange echo towards the fire leopards. Three of them dodged the attack, but one was able to be hit. The fire leopard let out a cry before disappearing into black smoke.

"Stripes, you got one!" Darington cheered.

"Yeah! I did!" Stripes flipped in the air in excitement. "Wahoo!"

"Wow!" Sparkle gasped. "You have the magic of animal power!"

"That could be predicted with him being a tiger truck an' all," Starla chuckled.

"Zeg want try!" Zeg flew towards the fire leopards, tires and horn glowing lime green in magic. "ZEG!"

One of the remaining fire leopards leapt at him, mouth blasting out flames. Zeg was able to chop the fire blast with his horn before taking down the fire leopards, causing it to disappear in a black smoke as well.

"Nice one, Zeg!" Watts let out a cheer.

"Magic of superhuman strength!" Sparkle clapped her tires. "Amazing!"

"That WAS awesome!" Darington agreed, staring down at his tires, which flowed sky blue. "I want to have a go to!"

He twirled his tires around, focusing hard on his magic. He gasped as a yellow star and a white star appeared in each tire.

"Woah! Cool!" He turned to the two fire leopards and smirked. "Take this, fire leopards!"

He threw each star towards them. One of the leopards dodged it and burnt the yellow star with it's blast while the other was hit by the white star, disappearing in a black smoke.

"Yes!" Darington cried out. "Got one!"

"And here comes the last one!" Gabby pointed to the fire leopard, which was coming their way at top speed.

"Woah!" They all scattered again as the fire leopard leapt at them, mouth flaming with a fire ball.

AJ tried to deflect the blast, but it managed to zoom past him and make it's way to Crusher. The dark blue truck screamed.

"GAH!" He tried to fly away but only managed to flap his wings, strong wind traveling towards the fire blast.

The wind put out the blast immediately, turning it into black smoke. Everyone gasped.

"Woah..." Sparkle's eyes widened. "No ordinary fairy could put out a fire blast without casting a speed spell with his wings!"

The fire leopard gave a growl and released more fire blasts. In his panic, Crusher flapped his wings strongly again, but just as he did, his flapping began to sped up, his whole body lighting up in electric blue. His eyes began to glow pure white before a tornado was unleashed from his flapping.

"Wow!" Pickle squealed. "Go Crusher!"

The fire leopard let out a scream as it watched it's fire blasts disintegrate into black smoke. It tried to run away, but the tornado had caught up to it and evaporated into smoke. The tornado itself vanished as soon as it touched the fire leopard.

"Fire leopards gone!" Zeg cried out.

"Hooray!" Pickle cheered before turning to see the dark lie truck beginning to fall, his smile vanishing. "Crusher!"

"I got him!" Blaze zoomed over and got his rival before he dropped down too far.

"I'll help you, Blaze," AJ and Sparkle flew over to help the red truck.

Crusher groaned, his eyes ceasing glow as he regained his strength to flap his wings. Blaze let out a sigh of relief as he, AJ and Sparkle let him go, allowing him to flap and fly by himself The others flew over to them.

"You all okay?" Watts asked.

"What was that, Crusher?" Starla questioned.

"Yeah!" Stripes agreed. "That was stronger than the magic we brought out,"

"What... What magic are you guys talking about?" Crusher hissed tiredly, rubbing his head as Pickle flew over to his side.

"You just unleashed a freaking tornado from your wings!" Darington told him.

"I... did?" Crusher blinked in surprise before shrugging. "Should explain why I feel so... exhausted..."

"What kind of magic was that, Sparkle?" Gabby turned to the the orange truck.

"I'm not sure, actually," Sparkle replied unsurely. "Darington's magic was the magic of the shooting stars, but Crusher's magic? I don't really know,"

"Magic of the shooting stars?!" Darington gasped. "That's awesome!"

"Maybe Crusher's magic is weather?" AJ suggested.

"Or creation?" Blaze guessed. "He does create giant robots to cheat, after all,"

"Any and either? I really don't know," Sparkle shrugged.

Pickle shook his head at them before turning back to the other. He stroked the dark blue truck's wings comfortingly.

"You sure you can still go ahead?" he asked with a frown. "You look tired,"

"M'fine," Crusher gave the green truck a smile. "Besides, you're going, and I don't want you hurt,"

"D'aww," Pickle giggled, a blush stretching across his cheeks.

Crusher felt himself blush but managed to hide it and turn away. He flapped his wings towards the others, shaking his exhaustion away.

"Can we just go on already?" he spoke with a groan. "Not really interested with what magic I have. Just want this over with,"

"Right," Blaze nodded and turned to lead the way. "Come on, guys! Nina's tower is this way,"
