Chapter 4: A New Player

Previously

"I'll give you some time to consider. If you don't agree with the condition, I'm sorry but you'll have to find another student willing to be the manager." She gives a closed eye smile but opens her eyes and glances at Kuroko as he also had a slightly shocked face but regained his composure. With a bow, she turned to Riko to pass her the new set of notes and left without uttering another word...

------------------------------------------
After that scene, no one uttered a sound, only shuffles were heard as they formed a circle and discussed about Hikari's condition.

"That shocked me..." Riko muttered, earning nods from the other second years too.

"To be honest, I was shocked too..." Kuroko raised his hand while the other freaked out as he suddenly spoke.

"You...? Scared? Wait... You're serious, right?" Kagami asks to reconfirm.

The petite blunette could only nod in agreement.

"Anyway, back to her condition... What should we do?" Hyuga asks as he faces Kuroko.

"Well, I think this condition is crazy," Kagami comments as the other trio's first years nod.

"I disagree Kagami kun. Hikari san's condition is reasonable..." Kuroko explains as the second year's listening.

"Firstly, she can play basketball, you'll be amazed by her basketball skills. Secondly, she has the same mindset as both Kagami kun and me. She wants to beat the Generation of Miracles, using her basketball play. Third, when she plays against normal players and the Generation of Miracles, she is called the Secret Silent Seventh, and she is what the normal players call a monster." Kuroko emotionlessly explains.

"I guess we'll have to agree to her condition to see her play. Since inter-high is starting, we'll let her play, she'll take no.7 place as a starter for now until he's back." Riko explains while the second year nods and the first years have confused looks on their faces. But without further questions, they start practising again.

-END OF PRACTICE-
Hikari stood near the front gate of the school, tapping her foot as she waited for Kuroko.

Once she spotted the familiar boy, she waved and called out, causing the boy to run towards her letting out a puff.

"So how did it go?" Hikari asked with a smug grin.

"Riko senpai has agreed to let you play by replacing someone as a starter in the inter-high." Kuroko smiles slightly.

Hikari nods happily, speeding up.

"Since I'm a new player, please do look after me, Kuro kun." She turns around and smiles.

-NEXT DAY, PRACTICE-
Hikari was introduced as a new player in the team, she managed to follow Riko's training of hell as she did train outside of school.

They were having 3 vs 3 matches, Hyuga, Izuki and Mitobe  VS Hikari, Kuroko and Kagami.

The boys were all wearing baggy and comfortable shirts and sneakers, Hikari was wearing a similar outfit but the extra thing she was wearing, was a black open-finger glove on her left hand. The others glanced while some stared and wondered, Kuroko on the other hand, knew what it was for.

-Flashback-
It was during a match against Kirisaki Daichi, Kuroko was benched to observe the match, when one of the opponent players tripped Hikari and made her fall front first, and the captain, the "Bad Boy", Hanamiya Makoto 'accidentally' stepped on her hand with a hard stomp and the impact managed to break her bones, Kuroko noticed her wince and curse under her breath and informed the coach and she was benched and replaced with Kise, as Kuroko was told to bring her to the nearest hospital.

At the hospital, Hikari was told that her hand was so badly broken, that the bones punctured the muscles, nerves and a few of the blood vessels.

She was devastated after hearing that but was given the glove to support the muscles and nerves and to prevent the bones from shifting and breaking again, which indeed make her happy, and she was still able to play but only for a short while.

-End Of Flashback-

"Gather round!" Hyuga yells as he hands out preliminary inter-high matches.

"This is for preliminary inter-high matches, this is where it starts..." Hyuga trails off as he explains, and everyone looks at the piece of paper.
