3: Reading Comforts Me

One Week Later...

The silence of the library is music to Sanhyuk's ears. He is currently alone reading as he is the complete opposite of what his friends does. He spends his free time reading books or research articles to entertain himself and rarely do something that are not those two.

He's currently reading a novel, sitting down comfortably on the floor while leaning on the bookshelf. Instinctively, he looked up and had an eye to eye contact with Wonyoung who happens to be gathering some books for her to read.

"Hi!"

He smiled.

Wonyoung acknowledge his greeting by bowing before she continues choosing a book. Sanghyuk took glances while he reads, he really finds her attractive and on top of that she's smart totally catching his attention.

"What kind of book are you looking for?"

He finally asked after noticing that she's having a hard time looking for one.

"Sorry?"

She turned towards him and saw him standing up.

"I noticed that you're having trouble finding a book you want to read. I just finished this one and it's quite good. Here, if you haven't read this yet."

Wonyoung took the book that Sanghyuk handed her and remembered that she passed on to this one seeing it the first time.

"Thanks."

"No problem."

Sanghyuk then left the library, leaving Wonyoung with the book he just recommended her.

Wonyoung watched the guy went out and looked at the book again, being the first time that someone recommended her a book she then proceeds to read it.

Outside, Sanghyuk met with Jungwoon and Sunghoon who's on their way back to their classroom from the canteen.

"Where were you?"

Jungwoon asked.

"Library, I just finished reading the novel I started a few days ago."

"You really like reading huh?"

Jungwoon asked.

"Reading comforts me that's why."

Sanghyuk smiled as they walked back towards their classroom.

A Few Days Later...

Lunch time and after having his meal, Sanghyuk went straight to the library. He went to his usual spot and was surprised to see Wonyoung sitting there reading the book that he recommended.

"I guess you like the book that I recommended."

Sanghyuk bravely said as he scanned the bookshelf for the book he was reading yesterday.

"Ah, yes. Like you said it is somehow interesting."

Wonyoung replied before she went back on reading.

Sanghyuk did not bother her anymore after finding the book he was looking for, he then sat a good meter away from her. Enough to cross her personal space. Wonyoung noticed this behaviour and commended it, as most guys want to approach her disregarding her own personal space.

He would often take glances but she's too focused to even notice. Make sure that no other student goes into their bookshelf isle as he doesn't want her to be disturbed. It's not that he likes her but because disturbing someone's peace is something that he does not tolerate.

As days passed by, this had become a regular schedule for the two of them. Either of the two would be there at first. Wonyoung had finished reading the book that Sanhyuk recommended and was happy that she didn't let her attitude get in the way.

This also sparked the start of Wonyoung slowly opening up conversations with him. She would greet him whenever she's first to arrive on their little spot. She would also give longer questions that leads to conversations whenever they talk about interesting things like books, articles and other things smart people talks about.

Although they don't talk to each other directly in class, he's happy knowing that he has  stumbled across this hidden side of her. Which is totally different from what most students see in class or whenever she's outside the library.

. . . .

The class are waiting for their next teacher, the next subject is literature which most of the class hates as they think that it's boring. Everyone had their own worlds, some talked about issues around the school while others are just talking about their day. The class was then silenced when their teacher arrived.

"Seems like everyone is very energetic today."

Mr. Im said.

"Good day, Mr. Im."

Everyone greeted.

"Good day everyone, you may take your seats."

"Today, we are going to talk about the book that I gave you as a reading assignment a few days ago."

Most of them class' smiles faded as they clearly forgot about the said reading assignment.

"I can see that only a few people had read the reading assignment. But I will still proceed."

Mr. Im then placed his bag on the table.

"Okay let's hear from the class about what they understood about the chapter that I assigned you to read."

Mr. Im saw Wonyoung raising her hand first and then followed by Sanghyuk. He waited a little bit more to see if someone wants to share their opinion other than them.

After seeing no one, he sighed and chose Sanghyuk over Wonyoung.

"Yes Mr. Kang, please share to class what you understood."

Sanghyuk stood up and began talking about what he understood about the chapter. He qouted some conversation there and had decoded their messages based from how he understood it. Everyone clapped after he finished talking.

"Good analysis Mr. Kang, that's a great point of view from the story."

"How about you Ms. Jang? Do you have the same point of view like Mr. Kang's or you have a different one?"

Mr. Im asked.

"Actually, I do have the same point of view as him. But I want to add something."

Wonyoung started talking about what she wants to add to what Sanghyuk has already said. While she's busy talking, Sanghyuk was also busy admiring her from a far. Her beauty not only radiates but also her intelligence, he wished that he can talk to her more specifically when they are outside the library.

"Okay, thank you for those who shared their insights. I want everyone to share their for the next one. It doesn't matter whether it is long or deep like the others."

"Now let's move on to our lesson."
