Everyone was in awe when they saw Camila in her police uniform since it’s their first time seeing her wearing one and it matches Austin’s uniform but Camila’s decoration had much more than Austin is having.

Clara is teary eyed when she saw Camila and she embrace her, “sorry mija, it’s just this is my first time seeing you wear a police uniform personally, I felt so proud.”

Mike nodded, “it’s different in personal, it looks good on you.”

“Thank you.”

“I can’t believe this,” and Chris took his phone and went to his camera app, “give me a minute to have a selfie with you, can't let this opportunity to escape,” and he press the capture button.

“Mean, include me please,” Taylor whined and joined the group.

“I can take pictures with you all with Cami,” Austin presented, “we have 5mins Cami.”

Camila nodded.

So the Jauregui fam took the opportunity to have pictures with Camila in her police uniform, including the security that is nearby, which is Normani, Dinah and Ally took the chance, knowing a high rank officer is a must chance.

The picture taking goes like this in the span of 5mins, the Jauregui siblings with Camila, and solo each then the couple with Camila and solo each then Normani, Dinah and Ally with Camila and solo each.

“You didn’t take pictures with her?” Chris asked Lauren.

“You’re really asking her, bro?” Taylor asked, “can’t believe you,” shaking her head, “sis, show her.”

Lauren grinned and took her phone and showed it to her siblings.

“Damn.”

“You ready?” Austin asked Camila after their preparation.

“Let’s get this over," Camila replied.

“That’s the spirit.” Then they both wear their police hat and stood side by side.

The setup is like this, long table at the sides then a white hanging wheel board including the white marker pen.

“I will answer it now,” Ally said and Camila nodded at her.

Then in the large screen TV appeared with couples of high ranking police officers or the higher ups as what they called, even Chief DeGeneres is there too, joining the meeting.

“Supt Austin Mahone, commanding officer of Cambridge Police Station,” Austin said firmly while saluting.

“Supt Camila Cabello, assistant commanding officer of Cambridge Police Station, Chief commanding officer in Homicide Section,” Camila followed while saluting.

“At ease, officers.”

Austin and Camila followed and in sync then they removed their hat flipping it behind their backs.

“Your girlfriend is so hot, acting like that,” Chris whispered to Lauren.

“Sshh…”

Chris shut his mouth after receiving a glare from their parents and a tongue out from Taylor.

“It’s good to see you again, Supt Cabello,” Chief Superintendent Thompson greeted, the Head, the main boss.

“Thank you, Chief Thompson.”

“How are you, Supt?”

“I’m fine, Chief, thank you.”

“We already read the report that Chief DeGeneres handed, it’s your report regarding Richard Collson and you insisted that what happened to his family is not just simple robbery with homicide but a multiple murder.”

“Yes, Chief.”

“And that led you to jail for investigating more.”

And Camila didn’t answer.

Lauren wanted to comfort Camila but she can’t.

“And I salute you for insisting because your report is accurate leading you deeper to another confidential case, unfolding a national threat,” “and I’m giving you a week suspension Supt Mahone for not assisting your subordinate.”

“Yes, Chief,” Austin answered, he already expected this and he accepts.

“For the past 2yrs after unfolding it, we're led to 45 chemical engineers, professors, scientists, analysts, all dead and all of their profession is in regard with chemicals that I believe that you Supt Cabello received a call from Richard Collson.”

“Yes, Chief, he's a professor.”

“I want to hear it from you, Superintendent.”

“Yes, Chief,” and she internally sighed, “it was just a usual day in the station and I’m currently doing a paper works in my office when my telephone in the office rang, I answered it then I heard him, begging me to listen to him, his voice is scared, in a hoarse whisper, crying, desperate and he tell me about his family’s safety, who he is, his profession, when he was abducted that match to his wife's report and how he was abducted, he even expect that I will not believe him and that I only believe in him once I saw his dead body, the name of the leader who abducted him and then the chemical attack that will happen in a few years, he didn’t know the exact date but he said that it will happen in the US he wanted to say more but the line suddenly cut off and that’s the last thing I heard from him, I waited but it never come.” 

“Then your station receives a report about his family, who’s the first responding officer?”

“It was me, Chief.”

“Tell us what happened, Supt Mahone.”

“Yes Chief, I’m on my way to the station when I heard in the radio the report about a murder case, since it’s on my way to the given address, I went there immediately.”

“What did you see in there?”

“Messy house, all of the things are scattered in the living room and a lifeless body on the floor, in the room were two kids in the same manner.”

“What did you observed?”

“At first I thought it was just a robbery but when I ask for more investigation from the forensic and the evidences that they so far gathered, it’s far from robbery, 3 bank books were there, cell phones, TV, jewelries, watches, the basic things that the robber wanted to take are all present in there.”

“And Supt Cabello arrived at the scene.”

“Yes, Chief and she told me about the call that she received from Richard Collson.”

“And Chief DeGeneres already told me your reasons Supt Mahone, that’s my reason why I wanted to suspend you after this case, it was all there, from the basic it already fed to you and you refuse, it’s a lame excuse, if you don't know that, reasons, explain to me Supt Mahone, convince me because aside from suspension is stripping you from 1 rank lower.”

“It’s Supt Cabello’s profession and as a friend I don’t want something happen bad to her, knowing that it was Mendes behind all this, the citizens in Cambridge adore her, respected her and if she came across with Mendes knowing what he can do, Supt Cabello will fuck up.”

“You forget one thing, Supt Mahone, that’s why we’re here, the higher ups, did you forget, your commanding in chief's to support you and Supt Cabello,”  and he sighed, rubbing the bridge of his nose, “okay, Supt Mahone, instead of stripping you to 1 rank lower, I will give you two weeks suspension.”

“Thank you, Chief.”

“Supt Cabello, your resignation is here in my hands,” waving it and place it on the desk, “are you really sure about this Supt?”

“Yes, Chief, I am sure.”

“Why? I know you have reasons, you’re one of a kind Supt, your decorations said so, tell me, explain to me, make me understand because losing like you in our service will be a big loss.”

“Chief, spending time inside the jail makes me think hard, didn’t put out into the equation of what Supt Mahone told me, he’s somewhat right, because you see it’s a common problem in the system, once a person offered a huge sum of money whatever the person’s justice and perspective, it’ll change with that offered money, Mendes can offer money to anyone just like what happened to the judge that handled my case first before it turned to another judge, if Mendes can buy that judge’s oath then the police officer is closely to that, he can pay any other officer to cover his misdeeds, just like what he did to my case.”

Lauren wipes a tear from her cheeks and she receives a soothing rub at her back.

“You have a point there, Supt Cabello,” Chief Superintendent Cantanares agreed, “because today, two other higher ups are absent today and to our further investigation they somehow connected to Mendes, so I agree with you.”

And the other higher ups nodded.

“Where are you right now, Supt Cabello?” Chief Superintendent Molina asked.

“I’m here in Miami, Chief Molina, and Supt Mahone arrived a few days ago.”

“What makes you think that it’ll happen in Miami, Supt Cabello?”

“I really didn’t think at it first Chief, I just wanted to get out, to breathe, to forget and Miami is the only place that no one knows me and my godfather Mike Jauregui stumble upon me.”

“Who is this Mike?”

“He’s the owner and CEO of Jauregui Group that specializes in technology, all of the latest tech discoveries is there in his company.”

“And you know this?”

“No, Chief, I didn’t, it was just a simple reunion since the Jauregui’s are my family’s friend and they’ve been watching me since I’m a baby and they treat me as their own daughter.”

“A simple reunion turned out that they somewhat connected that gives you theories or conclusion that it’ll happen in Miami.”

“Yes, Chief, Uncle Mike really wanted me to take a look of the threats he’s been receiving since I do have skills so he let me look at it and when he told me that it happened after he turned down the deal of Mendes that trying to offer him, he’d been receiving it since then, not only him but to his eldest too.”

“Why not report it to Miami Police?”

“Because the commanding in chief in Miami Police is not taking it lightly, took it as a joke but still report it to them, that’s why he asked me to look at the threats because Uncle Mike almost believe that it's just a joke.”

“Who is this commanding-in-chief you’re talking about, Supt Cabello?” Chief Supt Martinez asked.

“Simon Cowell, Chief Martinez.”

“I fucking knew it,” Chief Martinez hissed upon hearing that name, and he rub his face.

“What do you mean?” another Chief asked.

“I saw him once in an event and you’re in there Supt Cabello, he’s talking to Mendes, he’s also a former Head investigator about the questionable case there in Miami about—uh I forgot the woman’s name.”

“Erika Simpson,” Camila answered.

“Yes, Erika Simpson, her husband I believe that killed her, this Simon Cowell is the Head of the investigation at that time, saying that the evidence are not enough to convict Joe Simpson, so I marked the case unsolved because all of the marks are there present in her body and their report says that they didn’t found that evidence, why Supt Cabello? You somehow unfold another case here that I did miss, tell me.”

“Joe Simpson now goes with the name of Joe Fletcher, he was here in Miami, a basketball coach in Miami U, his son Brad Simpson is Uncle Mike’s eldest former boyfriend.”

“Hmm make it closer, the usual setup, getting the trust and once got it, used it.”

“What a small world we have here.”

And the other higher ups agreed.

“What makes you think that the threat is real, Supt Cabello?”

"The basics were there, no delivery address, all prints."

“You assess that it was really a threat after inspecting it?”

“Yes, Chief, it really was a threat and it hit me more when he mentioned that Mendes made a deal with him and he didn’t accept, after refusing his deal the threats surfaced, I don’t think that it was just a mere coincidence.”

“And now you come up with those theories and later proved that it was not just a theory after all.”

“Yes, Chief, let me explain it further,” and she moved to the white bulletin and showed the map of US, “this is US, the place that Collson said to me, and he mentioned somewhere in the US,” and she pointed Miami, “Miami is right here at the bottom right, as you can see, Ma’am, Sir, Miami is the perfect spot to launch the attack.”

“You’re right, it really is a perfect spot, a direct hit to the centre, knowing Jauregui Group is best in technologies.”

“Not just that, Sir, US is one of the biggest country when it comes to businesses and other commodities, for short US is really the perfect place to later conquer the world.”

A silence fell, all of them thinking too deep.

“We need to make this fast, we don’t know when they will start.”

“And they’re attacking the Jauregui’s, even Supt Cabello that they didn’t know she was in Miami,” Chief DeGeneres said, “once Mendes knows that Supt Cabello is in Miami, he will not take another day, he will do it immediately and we’re talking about Mendes here, with his wealth and insane connection everywhere he can in a blink of an eye, we already know what he did to Supt Cabello in Cambridge, he can kill an innocent people like what happened to his VP, he will surely do it again without any doubt and let’s not forget that those innocent chemical scientists has been missing for so long, some are dead, their families even and anytime they can attack.”

“What’s the status of them?”

“We gathered information across the globe and 154 chemical scientists are missing, all of them had insane knowledge about chemicals and from 154 it lessened to 40 because the rest was killed including their families.”

"What do you mean across the globe, is he smugling them?"

"Yes, Chief, because they all found in Cambridge and nearby cities."

“This is too much,” and he sighed, “Supt Cabello, Supt Mahone, do what you can, just do anything and mostly don’t forget that we already consider this as a national threat, understood?”

Camila and Austin both replied, “Sir, yes Sir.”

“We need to be quick, keep us up to date, dismiss.”

And the high officials slowly dissipated from the large TV and now only Chief DeGeneres left.

“Godspeed, Supt Cabello, Mahone, come back in London in one piece.”

Camila and Austin saluted to their commanding-in-chief and the call ended.

“We can do this,” Austin said, tapping Camila’s shoulder.

And Camila only nodded.

“I almost pissed in my pants,” Chris announced.

“Eww!” Taylor said in disgust.

“Almost! Almost, okay?” “Geez and you talk to them like they’re normal people, how did you two do it?”

“Ask Cami, not me, I almost pissed in my pants too.”

Camila just rolled her eyes, “pussy.”

“Yeah, yeah,” and he took a seat.

Lauren stood and left without saying anything.

Camila watched Lauren ran up the stairs.

“Go, mija, make her understand,” Clara said.

Mike nodded, “you’re the only one who can do it.”

Chris and Taylor nodded in agreement.

Camila nodded, “excuse me,” and she followed Lauren.

Camila knocked before she turned the doorknob and pushed it, she saw Lauren wiping a tear and shifted, looking away from her and she was hurt seeing her like this.

“Can I?”

“Suit yourself,” and she sniffed, wiping her tears.

Camila opened the door and took a step inside the room then she closes it, locking it then she walked towards Lauren, she crouched down to her knees, squeezing Lauren’s knee, “hey,” and she gulped, “look at me, Lo, please?”

Lauren did turn without looking at Camila, she was fidgeting and her tears didn’t stop from falling down her cheeks.

Camila took Lauren’s hands and kissed it, “I’m sorry if this is happening to us.”

Lauren shook her head, “as if we can evade it, right? I just don’t understand why you need to come back in London, they can order someone to arrest that shithead Mendes, why you? Are you leaving us? Me?”

“Oh Lo, no, I will not leave you, I will not leave this family.”

“But you’re leaving…”

“From the time being, yes, I’m the only one who can solve this, if this goes to another officer like me it might complicate things and besides I need to face this, I need this closure so I can move on, I’m blaming myself because I couldn’t save Richard Collson and his family, he beg me for the safety of his family and I failed.”

“It’s not your fault.”

“I know,” and she stood and sat beside Lauren, “but it’s my responsibility and eventually I have to clean my name, I worked hard so I can get to this rank that I have now and just some lowly criminal tarnished it, just by that, I want to clean my name, but I’ll be back,” and she held her cheek and wipe her tears then she make Lauren looked at her, “for you, for your family and for the securities here, they’re like my family now, this’ll be the last, after this I’ll be back at your side and never leave, I promise that.”

Lauren nodded, “promise?”

“I promise,” and she rested her forehead to hers and brush her nose to hers.

“I love you.”

“I love you too, Lo,” and she kissed her then she kissed her forehead and she embrace her tight.

Then they heard Chris from outside the door, “you don’t have to lock the door you know?”

Followed by Taylor, “and what, you’ll peek inside, give them privacy you creep.”

Camila and Lauren just chuckled.

“We got the high score in our performance.”

“Yeah?” and she saw her nod, “thank God for that, you have plus points now in the last exam.”

“And you? Oh I forgot you’re not really a student, how did you pull it up?”

“With your father and the Director of the school kind of know me because she’s a fan of police matters so she pulled some tricks so I can get in.”

“You didn’t look like 30 though.”

“Yeah and they always call me kid, especially DeGeneres.”

“Those higher ups are kind of scary, Chris is right.”

Camila chuckled, “well if you’ve done wrong you must be but I didn’t so I’m not afraid.”

“You’re really a badass.”

Camila chuckled.

“Thank you, for saving us, for saving Taylor, for saving Alexa, she couldn’t shut up about you.”

“Well, I heard that she wanted to thank me personally after the rescue mission but didn’t get a chance to because I was set to another mission with Austin.”

“Austin, I don’t like him,” and she smiled when Camila kissed her forehead.

“You don’t need to like him.”

“Okay, but tell me, did he court you before?”

“I really don’t know actually.”

“Playing sport?”

“No, of course not, or I’m just dumb not to notice?” and she shrug, “but Armando and I really looked at some hot women in the bar.”

“What?” and she pulled away, angry was written all over Lauren’s face, she was jealous of course.

Camila pulled Lauren back, “Armando was just teaching me how to look at women, how to appreciate them so I will not get embarrass in front of them once I made a move and that’ll be a big minus points because I’m too innocent to check women out.”

“Really?”

“Yep, what I did to you is out of my control, it came out, I guess and Austin and Armando are happily married with kids.”

“So, you three…?”

“We’re team back in Police Academy.”

And Lauren nodded, “I like this.”

Camila smiled when she get what Lauren meant, “me too.”

“Having a conversation with you is nice.”

Camila nodded, “you now practically know everything.”

“Nope, I just know you, and I sometimes dream of you.”

“Really?”

And Lauren nodded, “especially when I’m staring at the ceiling and I’m lying on my back, it’s a kid’s voice, calling out to me.”

“Oh,” and she chuckled, “I was almost 7 when you were born, let’s just say that I practically lived with your parents because my parents were busy and your parents love to watch over me.”

“Mom was right, you’re our elder sister.”

“Looks like that.”

“And I still remember what you told me about the apple.”

And Camila laugh, “yeah, it’s my first time that I lied to your mom because you’re giving me your puppy look eyes, holding my gaze, and you’re pouting too, and your chubby cheeks puffed, begging me to give you a tiny piece of apple that I ate, you don’t even have a teeth that time.”

“You gave in when I give you a puppy look eyes.”

“Yep and I couldn’t resist it and I love you too much to ignore you.”

Lauren melted about it, “aww you love me since we were kids.”

“Nope, you’re wrong about that.”

“What?”

“I loved you since you’re still in your mother’s womb.”

“Awww I love you, Camz.”

“I love you too, Lo.”

“Tell me more.”

“Okay,” and she smiled, continuing their conversation.

A/N: Almost done with the story, right now I'm typing the last chapter? who knows. Creating an ending is so hard 😔. I don't want it to be flop or likely a jump off scenario to meet the end, I'm a detailed woman.
