12.) Enjoying a Moment with No One's Fox

"Your grandfather is a hero of Konoha, of all the villages, all the people, and us tailed beasts. Because of Naruto, I felt free even when I was still technically caged inside him as the tailed beasts' mediator. He told me I was a citizen of the Konoha village and was no one's fox. Naruto was special and reminded me of the first person I had the fine pleasure of meeting on my first day on Earth." Saruto laid on the grass floor and was amazed at the Uzumaki family.

After hearing the stories of his great grand father, grandfather and father in battles and training, Saruto was hopeful and mesmerized. Training with the legendary sannin Jiraiya, the battles against the raikage, the battles against the Uchiha brothers, everything! It was a magnificent series of events.

"I never knew the Uzumakis were so cool!" Saruto smiled. Kurama frowned at this and Saruto grew suspicious. "What's wrong?"

"You have the mangekyou sharingan." Kurama gave a short look of fear but it died down. "But you don't present the symptoms of the harsh power. Uchiha are supposed to feel extreme emotional pain even before getting the painful eyes. Everything they see after gaining Mangekyou Sharingan is dark and the obtainer's bad emotions are heightened but what I noticed from you is that the more time you spend with someone, you're softer and kinder... like Naruto."

"I don't know much about the mangekyo sharingan." Saruto admits.

"How'd you get it?" Kurama asks, making Saruto unconsciously activate his sharingan.

"My only friend died." Saruto says dully. "What I am left to do now is to accomplish what he tried to help me do, which is finding my parents. I just want to know what happened to my clans. Where do I belong?" Kurama laughs.

"I can't tell," He says, making Saruto bite his cheek and furrowed his eyebrows. "I can't tell if you're more of Naruto or the Uchiha brat he called his friend." Saruto didn't know how to respond to this so he passed the comment.

"By the way, how are you alive? I thought you died many decades ago."

"When your father was a child, he was targeted by the Otsutsuki clan. He was powerful and was born with an eye only known in the Otsutsuki clan. As human as he was, nothing could stop the Otsutsuki from taking him as a vessel. Naruto almost died during his years in the office of Hokage. He used up all my chakra and the Kurama inside him died. He did forget, however, that some of my chakra would be rebuilding inside others around the world, dead and alive."

"Dead and alive?" Saruto wonders out loud.

"Yes. Remember, your great grandfather died to cut me in half and put me inside him and his son. The chakra was passed from different people but the thing about a tailed beast's chakra is that it would still be inside them rebuilding after the jinchuriki died and their chakra is "removed." It proved to work when Obito Uchiha revived the dead jinchurikis in the fourth great ninja war whom Naruto and Bee had to battle. Since it's possible to split my chakra. In order to collect my chakra, Naruto had asked Orochimaru to reanimate those who had it at least once in their lives: Minato Namikaze, Kushina Uzumaki, Mito Uzumaki, Kinkaku, Ginkaku, and the two jinchurikis of the ten-tails, Madara and Obito Uchiha. There was only one other alive person who didn't want the nine tails chakra so Naruto collected that too. With all this chakra, he gave it to his daughter, Himawari Uzumaki. When she died, Konohamaru decided to free me from her body like Naruto has asked of him.''

"Grandfather must've been an intelligent man." At this comment, Kurama starts to laugh hysterically.

"He has his moments." Kurama said through laughing tears.

The two slept on the cold grass under the stars that night. Saruto liked the quiet. He knew there would be the fifth great ninja war soon and it's the calm before the storm.
