Rubi needed to take some time to rehabilitate after that night at the beach. Luckily she ended up better than ever and was a happy member of the school community. With summer vacation wrapped up it was time to get back to the usual patterns of life and it also meant that the Newspaper club needed to get started on their returning issue. Luckily Ginei had everything prepared and all that was left was to sell them to the students. With high hopes of success they opened up shop in the courtyard at lunch time and sure enough the paper was selling as good as any other day. Loyal readers came with new readers to enjoy the stories of the paper and things were going smoothly. However things don't seem to remain smooth for our heroes and disaster struck quickly and it took the form of a shower of newspapers but not written by them. At the center of this storm was a woman with purple hair and a sinister smile flanked by three other girls.
?????: Students of Yokai Academy, No longer will you be forced to read such bland and unimportant articles for the student council brings to you a bigger, better more exciting newspaper and our first copies today are free!
The students began to pick up the papers one by one. They opened them and read them and the looks on their faces said they were enjoying what they saw. In fact they held more excitement than for anything Rane and his friends ever put out and soon enough all the customers they had were reading the next big thing produced by the student council. It became harder for Rane and everyone to keep selling and at the end of the day Ginei arrived to view the almost complete defeat of the team.
Ginei: So how did we do guys?
Moka: Well we were doing great but....
?????: But the students found interests in something better.
Ginei: Keito?
Keito: Nice to see you Ginei. I'm suprised you decided to keep this paper running after what happened to your last team.
Ginei: What do you want?
Keito: I want nothing but the student council wants your paper to be done with. We don't want to see a single issue published.
Rane: Wait she isn't serious is she?
Her face said she was serious as anyone could he and Ginei was actually shaking with fear.
Ginei: Fine.
Keito: Good boy.
Rane: Wait what? Just like that?
Kurumu: You can't be serious. We put so much work into this club.
Yukari: Yeah what will we do without the paper.
Ginei: I don't want to hear it! As of today the club is over. Burn every single paper we have left in the incinerator and I don't want to see anymore from this point on. Are we clear?
Everyone had looks of shock on their faces. Rane had a mix of anger with it which made him fearful that he might turn but he kept it under control for now.
Rane: You guys heard him. No more papers.
Keito: Glad to see we all agree. I'll take my leave now.
After Keito walked away Rane did what he was told and the others followed taking all the papers to the incinerator. As they entered the room they saw Rubi who was cleaning it.
Rubi: Hey everyone.
She had a smile on her face but as she looked at everyone else her expression changed.
Rubi: What happened.
Rane: We just got shut down.
Moka: Why would Ginei give up like that.
Rane: There's bad blood.
Kurumu: Yeah you can tell by the look in his eyes there was something between them, a reason that he was scared.
Yukari: But what could she have possible done?
Rubi: You speak as if it was only one person but maybe that isn't the case.
Rane: True, it could be the whole student council that got involved.
Kurumu: And they expect us to just roll over and kiss their asses.
As Rane stood in front of the incinerator ready to toss the papers he had an idea that he thought was better.
Rane: You know, the one thing I can't stand is being pushed around. So I don't plan on rolling over for no damn student council.
Moka: So what do you expect us to do?
Rane: These guys want to dominate us. I just want to show that we won't let them because we're gonna have a the best issue we've ever written by next week.
Moka: And what about Ginei.
Rane: As of today the club is under new management. Whatever Ginei went through I won't let him go through it again.
Kurumu: So a week from now we need a dam good amount of stories.
Yukari: We gotta put everything we have into this.
Rubi: I'll help in anyway I can.
Mizore: I'll be here too.
Rane: Mizore where did you come from?
Mizore: I was in your room.
Rane: WHAT?!!!!
Mizore: It's not important.
Moka: She's right we got a paper to right.
So with their minds made up they started to gather what they needed in secret. They searched high and low for stories and ideas for articles all while keeping what they had put of the eyes of Ginei who would probably try to stop them. Once the week past it was time to turn the tables on the student council. It was lunch time again and everyone was in the courtyard this time crowding the new newspaper club created by the student council. The students were flocking buying copy after copy and Keito who was the head of it all was basking in the glory. However it seems like that glory came with a shower of newspapers and "X gon give it to ya" playing in the background. It's amazing how what goes around comes around in life and it did for Keito as she watched Rane lead a charge being a shower of the latest issue of the original Yokai Academy newspaper.
Rane: We're back bitches.
Keito: I thought your paper was shut down.
Rane: Ginei did shut it down so consider us independent. Now allow me to take a page out of your playbook.
Rane decided to jump on top of Keito's news stand and shouted out to all of the student body.
Rane: Ladies and gentlemen witness the return of the Yokai Academy News so pick up a copy of our latest issue because today they are all free!
Nothing gets a crowd stirring more than hearing the word free. The students picked up their copies and allowed themselves to be immersed in the text. As for Keito's papers, if they were already bought they were thrown in the trash and business slowed down by a mile. With no more customers Keito became infuriated.
Keito: You all are going to pay.
Rane: I don't see how.
She stomped off angry and her minions followed her. As Rane and is friends relished in their victory Ginei walk up to them.
Ginei: What the hell did you guys do?!!!!
Moka: We made a new paper that kicked the student council's butt.
Ginei: I told you not to make another paper! Do you have any idea what you've done?
Rane: We defended our pride?
Kurumu: Yeah, what has you so scared of the student council anyway.
Ginei: Remember how she talked about the Newspaper club before you guys.
Yukari: I recall that.
Ginei: Well as hard as it might be for you guys to believe, there were other members and we were also confronted by the student council to shut down our paper.
Rane: And?
Ginei: And we didn't. We kept going without fear, and now they're all gone.
Mizore: Gone, like expelled?
Ginei: Gone as in dead!
That one word sent shivers down everyone's spine.
Ginei: You have no idea how much power the student council actually has and now you just became prime enemy number one! I tried to save you guys from this!
Kurumu: Looks like we screwed up.
Rane: I don't think so.
Kurumu: Seriously? We're pretty much on death row here.
Rane: I see that but I also see that this student council has a little to much power.
Moka: So what do you think we can do?
Mizore: You have to fight for change.
Rane: Mizore has the right idea so that's what we'll do.
Yukari: So when they come for us?
Rubi: Be ready to take them down.
Rane: You guys got the idea.
Ginei: You guys are crazy.
Rane: Ginei we won't ask you to fight with us. You've already been through this but I promise this won't end the way it did before.
Ginei couldn't find words to say to them and he still didn't approve of what they were planning so all he did was walk away. As the day ended each of them went back to their rooms and went to sleep with one eye open. When morning came Rane decided to get up a little earlier than usual to avoid the traffic of the school hallways. On his way to his first class he happened to run into Kurumu.
Kurumu: How did you sleep?
Rane: Not as much as I normally do.
Kurumu: Same here.
They began making their way to class together.
Kurumu: Rane, do you ever feel like you start fights that you can't win?
Rane: A lot more than you think.
Kurumu: What about this one?
Rane: Honestly I don't know. When Ginei put our lives on the table it was already to late to turn back.
Kurumu: Begging for our lives is always an option.
Keito: You lost that option when you came back.
Rane and Kurumu turned to see Keito and her minions behind them.
Rane: I'm gonna stop walking around the halls early.
Kurumu: You meet the people you really don't want to meet.
Rane: Exactly, I met you here.
Kurumu: HEY!!!!
Rane: Joking.
Keito: Are you done acting like fools?
Rane: Is this the part where you try to kill us?
Keito: Yes.
Rane: Bring it on.
Keito: As you wish.
Keito removed her school uniform revealing what was probably the uniform of the cool council. Then she pulled her shirt revealing her stomach which made Rane and Kurumu confused. The confusion didn't last too long as they watch her stomach open, literally and eight spider legs emerged from her body.
Kurumu: She's a spider
Rane: We better run.
Kurumu: Wait you don't want to fight them?
As Kurumu looked to where she thought Rane was standing she realized he had already ran away.
Kurumu: YOU JERK!!!
Kurumu sprouted her wings and flew after them while Keito ordered her minions to do the same and they changed into fly monsters with big red eyes and wings. Kurumu managed to catch up to Rane pretty quickly.
Kurumu: Now would he a good time to get a little angry.
Rane: It would be but I can't.
Kurumu: WHY THE HELL NOT!!!
Rane: I have a soft spot for bugs. Can't get mad at them.
Kurumu: You're serious.
Rane: completely.
Rane looked back to see Keito and her flies chasing after them.
Rane: I'll call Yukari and Rubi, you get Moka and Mizore.
Before Rane could pull out his phone Keito shot a string of spider webs from her mouth and it latched on to his leg. Unable to move Rane fell on top of his cell and broke it.
Rane: I think that shattering sound was my phone.
Kurumu sprouted her claws and used them to cut the web. She then picked Rane up and together they flew away from Keito. Since they still needed help Kurumu pulled her phone out and gave it to Rane and he dialed Moka's number. Moka was tired but luckily she picked up.
Moka: Kurumu? We still have a half hour before class starts.
Rane: Morning Moka. Keito turned out to he a spider and is chasing Kurumu and me. HELP!!!!!
Moka: It is too early for this. I'll get the others, just keep running.
Rane: 10-4
Rane hung up and gave Kurumu her phone back.
Rane: Ok so now we need to buy time.
Sadly the extra weight of Rane kept Kurumu from flying at full speed and Keito's fly minions were able to catch up. They grabbed Rane's legs and yanked him away from Kurumu. They dragged him back to Keito who had a spiderweb made ready for a feast.
Keito: Oh look, breakfast.
Rane: If you eat me you'll probably get really fat.
Keito: Oh I'll work it off later.
Kurumu: Work this off!
Kurumu flew in at full speed and dived straight toward Keito but with a simple sidestep Kurumu went flying into the web.
Rane: Nice rescue attempt.
Kurumu: Shut up.
Keito: Two of you might add on a couple of pounds.
Keito began wrapping them in webs leaving them unable to move. With the two of them stuck in her web it looked like they were about to be spider food, at least until the web was frozen along with their cocoons causing it all to shatter.
Keito: What?
Mizore: I'd prefer you not eat my friends.
Keito: Minions take care of her!
Her command was met with silence as her flies were no where to be found.
Keito: Where did they go?
Rubi had walked out from around the corner with her wand in hand.
Rubi: Ever heard of a Venus fly trap? It has quite the reputation.
Sure enough as Keito looked at the end of the hall she saw the shadow of her minions being eaten by Rubi's plant. Free from her web trap Rane and Kurumu were able to stand.
Rane: Your timing is impeccable.
Yukari: Sorry we took so long.
Yuakri flew in on her broomstick with Moka riding behind her, landing next to him and Kurumu.
Moka: Are you guys ok?
Rane: Yeah but I think I've had enough bug business for today. Come here Moka.
Rane yanked the rosary off of Moka and as day turned into a scarlet night the true vampire had risen.
Keito: I will not be stopped by pathetic lowlives!!
Keito decided to put everything out as well. Her body became bigger especially around certain areas. Her eyes turned completely purple and her mouth resembled a giant spider. The sight was something that made some of the girls cringe.
Moka: Ok this is one ugly girl.
Yukari: KILL IT WITH FIRE!!!
Moka: That seems a little excessive. I'll just handle it.
Moka stood before Keito who was breathing heavily, ready to attack at moments notice.
Moka: Because I'm nice, I'll let you have the first move, but don't waste it.
Keito: You dare speak down to someone of my status!! Prepare to die!
Keito lunged at Moka spitting a wide shot of spider webs at her following with her sharp talons stabbing her, but Moka was fast and Keito couldn't even match Ginei's speed so she dashed to the side of her easily dodging her attacks.
Moka: You wasted it. Now it's my turn.
Moka jumped back into the wall and launched herself into Keito's side planting her feet into her thorax and driving her through the windows and letting her plummet from the third floor to the ground below.
Moka: That's one down.
Rane: Now how are the rest of them gonna come at us?
