"Knock knock" Sunwoo says from outside the bedroom door.

I open it for him and he leans on the doorframe with a small smile.

"Why do you look so happy?" I raise my eyebrow at the usually moody boy.

"because you're here." he says.  "Also wear this." He hands me a red hoodie. "It's cold outside."

"I'm so excited to see them!" I grin, pulling the jacket over my head.

"Prepare for a lot of teasing." Sunwoo helps my arms through the sleeves.

"Why?"

"Why? Because not too long ago Jia and Chanhee were this close to murdering my guts because of our breakup." Sunwoo says.

"True," I grin. "Jia's a true friend."

Sunwoo scoffs and shakes his head.

"By the way... will it be awkward between you two?" I ask.

"Me and Jia?" Sunwoo asks. "Why would it be?"

"I mean... didn't you kinda have a fight or something in high school?" I ask.

"you knew about that?" He asks.

"I knew about your 'meet ups'" i admit.

"Really? Why didn't you say anything? God." Sunwoo rubs his eyebrows. "I was such a douche."

"You were." I agree.

"Hey." he pokes my ribs. "But no, it shouldn't be. I haven't seen her in forever. besides, you and I went through something much worse and we're all good."

"That's true." I say.

"Ready to go?"

"Yep," I slip my hand in his and he intertwines our fingers. We take a second to marvel at this. Holding hands was something so natural that I took for granted in high school. And now getting to feel him again when I thought we never would... it's even more special.

Sunwoo and I drive to the street that Chanhee directed us to, and he sings softly with the radio.

"Did you ever think of pursuing singing?" I ask him.

"I did actually. After we graduated I considered auditioning for a company, and then they told me how much work it would be, and I'm too lazy to do all that." He says.

"Standard." i say. "too bad though, more people should hear your producing skills."

"OH but they do." Sunwoo grins.

"Hm?"

"I'm on soundcloud."

"What??" I gasp. "Oh god don't tell me you're a soundcloud rapper."

"Hah..." sunwoo laughs awkwardly.

"YOU ARE??"

"NO." Sunwoo shouts. "I'm not. I just sing a bit. It's nothing really."

"I want to hear!" I grin.

"It's gonna be embarrassing since it was kinda a while ago." Sunwoo says, and connects his phone to bluetooth.

He allows me to listen to his most popular songs: berry, cream, behind you, and photosynthesis.

"These are really good." I assure him.

"Don't lie."

"I'm not!"

"It's embarrassing." Sunwoo turns it off.

"Hey you have so many followers! Do they even know what you look like?" I ask.

"No, I'm anonymous." Sunwoo says.

"What's your inspiration?" I ask.

"That anime kimi no na wa" Suwoo teases. "I'm kidding, of course it was you. I could only write songs when I felt some sort of emotion, and when I was with you... well that was basically the only time it happened."

"Aw"

"If you tell anyone I said that I'll assassinate you." sunwoo says.

"I won't," I laugh. "I promise."

Sunwoo parks in a spot next to the building and we wait for the others to arrive. By now it's dark and the other buildings are blocking most of the view of the sky. I scroll through instagram to pass time, and like a post by a singer I've been listening to recently.

"Who's that?" Sunwoo leans over.

"Do you listen to woodz?" I ask.

"I've heard of him." Sunwoo says.

"I love him." I say. "He's cute too."

Sunwoo raises an eyebrow at me. "Are you trying to make me jealous?"

"no." I stick my tongue out at him. "It's the truth."

Sunwoo narrows his eyes at me and I watch him with a curious face.

"You're so cute." he rests his hand on my knee. "I love you." He says quietly.

"I love you too," I smile. Sunwoo leans over the middle of the seat and presses his lips against mine. He grasps the back of my neck and deepens the kiss.

I run my hand through his hair and I feel Sunwoo's smile as he slides a hand down my waist.

Every time we touch it's so familiar, yet so new.

Sunwoo presses his lips down my jawline and I let out a small gasp. Once again, I feel his cocky grin against my skin and I nearly roll my eyes.

A sudden knock on my window jump scares the both of us, and we pull away to see Chanhee staring at us from outside, looking annoyed.

"Jeez," Sunwoo unrolls my window. "You scared the shit out of me."

"Good. I did not drive all the way here to watch you guys make out in your car." Chanhee rolls his eyes and my face turns red.

We get out of the car where everyone is already waiting, except Jia. We wait another ten minutes for her and soon she arrives. Her boyfriend drives away in their shiny volvo after she gets out of the car.

"Jia!" I run to give her a hug. She looks as glamorous as ever, maybe even more pretty than in high school. Not to mention she has brand names on nearly every clothing piece.

"Daeun I missed you." She says and we walk back to the group of boys. "Well, you all haven't changed a bit." Jia says, nodding to Sunwoo.

"Girl what do you mean, Canada water does wonders to the skin." Kevin says, giving her a tight hug.

After everyone greets each other, we walk up the stairs of the building to get to the rooftop.

"Maybe someone should have checked if there was an elevator." Jacob says, when we realize we're only halfway.

"Or maybe we should have gone to the mountain." Sunwoo adds.

"That would have been worse!" Chanhee smacks him. "It's not my fault. I was the only one coordinating."

"Let's just enjoy our time together," I say.

"True!" Jacob grins.

After another ten minutes, we finally make it to the rooftop. Sunwoo pushes the door open and a gust of cold air makes us all shiver as we enter. But the walk was worth it. The bright stars stand out from the dark blue sky, and it seems like everyone in the world went silent for a moment.

"WOAH" Kevin shouts, interrupting the peaceful quiet, and points up. "A shooting star!!"

We all sit by him and watch it flash from a bright light to absolutely nothing.

"Damn what are the chances of seeing a shooting star?" Sunwoo asks.

"Actually pretty high. It's 84-90%" Chanhee says, and Sunwoo smacks him.

"Who?" sunwoo asks.

"Who what?" chanhee says.

"Cares."

"you're so immature." Chanhee rolls his eyes.

We watch in comfortable silence trying to make out certain constellations and shapes.

"Do you guys ever wish we could stay in high school forever?" Jacob asks.

"Hell no." Chanhee says. "Too much pressure."

"I do." Kevin says. "I'm worried I'm growing up too fast. I miss how I used to look at the world."

"Me too." I add. "I'd rather stay that age."

"Not me," Sunwoo says. "I like my character development."

"Pssh. Of course you do." Chanhee says. "Jia?"

"I think you're all forgetting the hardships we went through in high school. It wasn't all fun and games." Jia says. "And being mature is difficult sometimes, but I'd rather not be ignorant to the world around me."

"But don't you miss the simplicity?" I ask.

"The simplicity?" Jia turns to me. "Jacob rejected you and Sunwoo kissed another girl within the same semester."

"OW" I grab my head, falling to the floor dramatically. "I forgot that happened."

"Damn that was harsh." Kevin laughs.

Sunwoo kneels next to me and kisses my forehead. "I'm sorry. I'm sorry." he says quietly.

"I'm sorry too." Jacob says.

"You have no reason to be sorry." I tell Jacob. "But you." I punch Sunwoo's arm.

"Ow" He rubs his shoulder. "I deserve that."

"Anyway what I'm trying to say is that I'd rather deal with problems that aren't so petty. I like being an adult." Jia says.

"yeah you also have a job and a boyfriend." Kevin reminds her.

"Oh yeah that too." Jia sticks her tongue out us.

"dammit Jia." I say. "You make the rest of us look so unaccomplished."

"Speak for yourself." Chanhee grins. "I just got an internship with a super famous American designer."

"No way!!" Jacob says.

"That's awesome!" I grin at Chanhee.

"Why didn't you say so earlier? We could have celebrated" Jia says.

"Because I'll be moving to New York for a while." Chanhee says with a sudden glum face. "I'm not sure that's something to celebrate."

"Oh." Sunwoo says.

"So we really won't see each other for a while." Chanhee adds.

We all stay silent for a long time until Kevin says, "New York is a lot closer to Canada though!"

"That's true! We can fly in to visit you!" Jacob smiles.

"Thanks guys." Chanhee says.

"It's going to be a great experience for you." I promise Chanhee.

"I know I'm just so nervous. I've never been in a different country for long periods of time." He says.

"You'll handle it." I say. "I know you will."

"Thank you." he pats my hand.

"This is the first time I've seen you lack confidence," Sunwoo says.

"Shut up." Chanhee tells him.

"Call me and tell me how it goes." Jia Adds. "Oh, my cousin lives in New York actually. I can put you guys into contact."

"Thanks you guys." Chanhee says to all of us. "It's just sad that everything's changing."

"I know." Kevin agrees. "We used to be able to hang out everyday after school and now it's like we have to plan a year in advance just to get everyone on the same day."

"It sucks." I agree.

"But some change is good." Sunwoo adds quietly.

"Some change is good." Jia agrees, and they share a look.

We talk for hours on end, until Chanhee complains about being cold, and kevin realizes he forgot to pack his suitcase.

"Well friends, I guess this is the end." Kevin says, and we all stand in front of the parking lot.

"The end of our friend group?" Jacob asks.

"More like the end of an era." Kevin responds.

"I'm okay with that." Chanhee says after taking a shaky breath.

"Same." I give him a reassuring nod. "We'll be okay."

"I still hate the idea of being an adult. I feel like this is a turning point for some reason." Kevin adds.

"It is," Sunwoo says. "But I'm sure one day we'll look back on this exact moment and be like 'damn I wish I could go back to that'"

"Alright let's bet." Jia speaks up.

"Money?" Jacob asks.

"Sure. Let's meet back at this address in five years. No excuses. If you're sick and dying, you still have to come." Jia says.

"I'm down with that" Chanhee says.

"What are we betting on though?" I ask.

"Betting to see how scary being an adult is and if it actually sucks more than it did in high school." Jia says.

"Okay then." Sunwoo sticks his hand out and we all shake hands with each other. "See you in five years."
