Chapter Twenty-Five: Cereal Salvation

Should I be furious? Angry? Saddened? Depressed? Confused?

All I knew was one thing, I was out of here.

Pushing myself off against the wall, I started to march down the hallway. I heard Kyla call out for me, but I kept on walking, there's no freaking way that I would be staying there.

I heard footsteps behind me, and I knew Kyla and Tristan are following me but are keeping a safe distance just in case I decided to explode in front of everybody in the hallway.

How dare Jasper Dean makes me feel all guilty when he was the one moving away?! I'm just going away for an early summer, he's moving to another fucking continent here!

When I stepped out of the school, I cursed everything in the world to see that somebody has parked in front of my car, making me stranded in this stupid place. Turning around, I reached out my palm to Kyla, requesting her to give me her keys.

She frowned, but she seemed to understand as she took it out from her pocket. Just as she was about to give it to me, Tristan snatched it from her hand and quickly pocketed it, "You're not going anywhere until you hear his side."

"He's going to study in Europe!" I screeched, my voice much higher than I expected, "Europe, Tristan, and he can't even find a single second to tell me about it."

Using his hand, he covered my mouth to stop me from rambling on any further. He gave me a stern look, telling me not to argue with him, "I don't know how the hell those girls got the conclusion that he was running for a scholarship in Europe, but calm yourself because he isn't."

Huh?

When I fell silent, he took away his hand and allowed it to run along his hair, "Please think for a moment, Europe's not that interested in basketball, well, to the level of Americans that is."

Say what?

He snapped his fingers in front of me, trying to make me respond to his words, "Are you even getting any of this?"

No Europe?

"She has officially lost it," Kyla threw her hands up in the air in exasperation, "Maybe we should get her inside?"

She tugged on my arm and I blinked multiple times before my gaze focused on her face. She was still lightly pulling me, trying to make me move. I was squished between Tristan and Kyla as if I was a small child, getting assisted as I did my first steps.

There were still some people loitering along the hallway, some even got their snacks and were now contentedly sitting on the floor like they were all having a large picnic.

When the nurse got outside the school clinic, he jumped up in surprise at the amount of students just casually waiting outside the room. He tried to make his way to the center, doing his best to make sure he didn't step on anything or anyone.

"Alright, I want everybody to leave now," he announced, clapping his hands so he would be able to catch the attention of everybody. They stared at him for a quick moment before they completely ignored him, returning to their individual businesses.

His look settled upon me, clearly asking for help to herd everyone out. The thing is, even I don't want to go.

I shifted my gaze so I didn't have to force myself to do something I'm not willing to do. Months ago, I would have yelled at these people in a heartbeat for even ignoring somebody in authority, but right now, my only concern is Jasper.

Get a grip of yourself, Savannah, you still have a job to fulfill.

I'm defeated — completely and utterly defeated.

Tristan placed a hand on my shoulder and gave me an encouraging pat, "I'll stay here with him, you should all go, I think he'll be angrier with himself if he finds out you're acting like this because of him."

I pursed my lips into a straight line as I saw Kyla nod her head in agreement, "Come on, I kind of miss the old terror that is our student body president."

She gave off a light laugh to lift up my mood. The nurse were still cupping his hands around his mouth, yelling at people to leave, even going as far tapping the students out.

Taking a deep breath, I crossed my arms over my chest and screamed at the top of my lungs, "Everybody out!"

Silence.

They were all shocked, most of the paused at whatever they were doing. The nurse blinked up at me, silently thanking me.

Tristan took an instinctive step backward as his girlfriend did the complete opposite, just like what our tag team used to be, she was the pretty face that got everybody calmed and assured that I wouldn't be murdering anybody while I was the one throwing commands that everybody needs to follow.

"Do I have to repeat myself?" I questioned, lifting a brow. My voice getting colder and more threatening, they shook their heads and little by little, the full hallways were starting to become empty.

When the last student came running out, I dropped my arms to my side and I let out a sigh, "They hate me again."

"No they don't," Kyla quickly shot down my assumption, "They were surprised more than anything, we haven't seen that side of you since, you know..."

"Jasper meddled?" I finished for her.

"Since he made you happy," she corrected. She turned to Tristan and gave him a smile, "You got this?"

He nodded as he walked back towards us, "You girls go home, I'll keep an eye on Jasper."

"I want to stay too," I blurted out. They looked at me and simultaneously shook their heads, turning me down.

Kyla pressed a kiss on Tristan's cheek before she walked towards me and took my hand, "Let's go."

She ignored my protests as she continued to tug me with her. I looked back to where Tristan was standing, waving as goodbye until he completely disappeared from our view. Even though I was half expecting it, I was shocked to see the crowded parking lot almost empty.

My car was now happily able to smoothly drive out of this place. I could just wait until Kyla goes away and then I can sneak back in there. Unfortunately, my best friend was a little bit smarter than that and she was basically glaring holes at the back of my head until I was inside my car. Even when she was inside her vehicle, she was still staring at me until I went off.

I seriously have no escape around this.

So with a pout of defeat, I drove back home and Kyla acted like a police escort who followed me around until I reached my house. She grinned triumphantly as she watched me enter, giving her a dirty look.

The only thing I could do was pull my curtains back and pray that when I wake up, Jasper would be safely back inside his room.

When the annoying birds started chirping in the morning, my eyes shot open and I got out of bed, immediately looking at my window, sadly, Jasper's curtains were covering whatever view I can get.

So I did the next good thing, I grabbed my jacket and I headed down. Mom called me up for breakfast, but before she could even finish her sentence, I was already out of the door.

I waked to the neighboring house and rang their doorbell. Not too long, Jasper's stunning mother opened the door and gave me a welcoming smile, "Savannah, it's rare to see you here quite early in the morning."

Looping my arms behind my back, I forced myself to reach her joyous mood, "I'm just kind of worried about Jasper."

I wonder if her grin could get any bigger. She stepped to the side and opened the door wider, "Well, we're just having breakfast, why don't you join us?"

"I don't want to be a bother, I'll just come back later."

Of course, she was having none of my excuses. She pulled me in and ushered me to the dining room, "I can't have my future daughter-in-law starve."

I froze to my spot at what she just said. When she turned to me, she started laughing at my mortified expression as she turned back and continued on walking.

Going too fast there, lady.

When I finally got to my senses, I rushed to follow her into the room. Jasper's father was seated on the table next to him who had his shoulder wrapped in a white bandage.

"Savannah's here," his mother announced as she headed to the kitchen, probably to prepare me my own plate of whatever breakfast they were having.

Jasper's head shot up to look at me and I waved awkwardly to them. His dad looks up from his phone and smiled towards me, "Good morning, you came to visit Jasper?"

"Oh why else would she be here?" his mom piped up, walking in with a bowl of cereal, "Young love is so precious."

At times like these, it's no wonder how my parents and his parents got along so easily.

Jasper stood up from the table and walked up to me before turning to his parents, "Savannah and I are just going to talk."

"Don't forget your cereal," she beamed, approaching me before thrusting the bowl into my hands, "Most important meal of the day."

"Thank you," I nodded with a small smile as Jasper escorted me out.

I was one step behind him as he went up the stairs and into his room. He closed his door and I gulped audibly, fearing the worst.

Wait, I'm not ready for this!

When a guy usually gets a girl in his room, doesn't he mean that he wants do something with her? But Jasper's a gentleman, he's not like that. Plus, it's broad daylight and his parents are just downstairs, thinking that we're having a friendly chat over this bowl of cereal.

"Savannah..." Jasper trailed off, approaching me.

Fuck.

I looked around frantically for something to distract myself. I grabbed the spoon and I started to stuff my mouth with this cereal, the milk spilling to the sides of my mouth.

He was looking at me as if lost my head, but you're not getting a piece of this glorious creation until I finish this cereal.

It's quite good if you ask me, I better ask her what cereal this is.

He grabbed my shoulders and my mouth fell open; I probably look the most unattractive codfish in the world. He slowly took the bowl from my hand, but I refused to let go of it. I knew he was forcing to keep that smile as he struggled to take it from grasp.

No, this cereal is my only salvation!

"When the hell is a bowl of processed wheat and corn your saving grace?!" he questioned the most ridiculous thing.

Did I just say that out loud?

Letting out an impatient sigh, he finally took the bowl from me and carefully placed it on his desk, "Calm down and forget the cereal for a moment."

When he took another step forward, I was ready to propel myself to that bowl, praying that the amazing milk-cereal ratio would somehow create another diversion of my attention.

"I heard from Tristan," he started off.

Oh great, why in the world is he and Tristan talking about cereal? Wait, I thought it was about doing it.

"Savannah," he snapped his fingers in front of me, "Please stay with me on this one, I'll get you another bowl of cereal after."

Do they usually eat breakfast both before and after the activity?

He slid his hands down his face, trying to calm himself. Well I'm sorry if my mind is trying to find a good debate when breakfast should be eaten.

Probably giving up, he went to his bedside table and pulled out the desk. Oh no, is he getting the contraceptive?!

Where the fuck is my cereal?!

I stared dumbly at him when he showed me an envelope. He placed it inside my hands, nodding for me to open it.

Then I'm reminded why I came here in the first place. I scanned the outside, and I was confused when it didn't show any school seal on the corner like most schools.

I looked back at him, before I gingerly opened it. I took out the multiple pieces of paper inside, my eyes scanning the words printed on it, before examining the other content.

Let's just say that my heart fell to the floor at this news.

"I was saving it after you decided whether you'll go to the freshman program," he scratched the back of his head, "I planned that before I found out, I don't want to be the reason why you would not go."

With my gaze switching from him back to the paper, I tried to make a formidable sentence, but nothing, I was completely speechless.

"The thing about the scholarship, I didn't want to tell you until I was sure that I got it," he explained, "I was offered this basketball thing and the agent was at the game last night."

I don't even know what I'm more concerned about.

"Look, you should know that whatever your decision is, I'll accept it," he reassured, gesturing to the paper in my hand, "But I don't think you should bend your idea about the freshman program because of this."

My hand went into the air and I sent it rapidly towards his cheek, but just a centimeter away, I carefully touched his face, my heart swelling with this new piece of information.

"How can I say no to you?" I held back a sob at how overwhelmed I was, "This is just..."

He kissed the top of my head, running soothing a hand through my hair, "Is that a yes or no to the freshman program, I just want to know."

I then glanced at the paper I was clutching. The itinerary, the plane tickets, even a map, my head and heart was screaming for him.

I mean, Jasper just basically told me that he was planning to take me to Europe for the summer this whole time.

————————————————————————————

You guys should know how frustrated I was writing this chapter. I was in beast mode the whole time, because it was one of those moments that I wanted this to be done, but the words just couldn't get through, I knew what I wanted to happen but I couldn't write.

In other words, this was a roller coaster, I don't even know where the cereal and the implication came from, it just kept on rolling from my brain.

Question: Freshman program or Europe with Jasper? Why?

I'm still in vacation mode, I planned to get this up earlier, but the hotel I was staying at didn't have the best internet and my phone was acting up, so I'm so sorry.

I love you guys so much and I hope you liked it that Jasper is not, in fact, going to have a scholarship to Europe. Comment, vote, and follow. I shall see you all next chapter!

P.S. Wattpad has changed so much! I know for a fact that it's going to change more in the following months, just kind of feel a little weird now that I think of it.
