just messing around, no big deal. right?

hyunjin brushed through his slightly sweaty hair as he hurried towards his destination.

he was one of the few people who knew about the hidden door leading to the garden at the back of the school. since picking the lock of that door was much easier than the heavy locks of the main school gates, he went there instead.

while he was getting to the door, he was searching for a bobby pin in his bag — don't ask why — in the dimly lit environment. thinking he could smoothly unlock the door, he inserted the pin in the lock. however, his lock-picking ended up lasting longer than he had expected.

the lock appeared to be too stubborn to budge, possibly because it had been such a long time since someone had used that door, causing him to break the bobby pin in his hand and had to fish out a second one. the handsome boy stepped inside once the obstinate lock finally gave in. after closing the door quietly in case anyone else sneaked into the school, he headed towards the school gates.

shortly, he saw seungmin in a distance. the heart-wrenching sight of the boy's shoulders shaking every time he sniffed greeted his eyes. hyunjin's heart was filled with guilt, knowing he was probably the reason for the poor boy to waste his tears.

hearing footsteps approaching, seungmin looked up in trepidation, since no one was supposed to be in the school other than him. seeing it was none other than the jerk himself, he threw the other a dirty look and looked away trying to stifle his sobs.

"puppy, i'm sorry-"

"i don't want to see your face right now!" the crying boy said, running away from the boy who left him alone.

unfortunately for him, he didn't get what he wanted when a hand wrapped around his wrist and pulled him around. hyunjin held the younger boy in place with an arm around his waist. seungmin, knowing he was not as strong as the other boy, gave up on struggling and had no choice other than staying in the embrace.

"why did you leave without a word, you jerk! you're probably going to say 'sike, you thought' and play me again after i stopped crying-" seungmin yelled with watery eyes while hitting the black-haired male on the arms, occasionally hiccuping.

hyunjin tangled his free hand in seungmin's brown hair and pushed the boy's head towards his own shoulder, shushing the distraught boy.

"shh don't cry. i'm sorry, i really am. it's my fault for thinking scaring you a little would be a good idea. don't worry puppy, i'm here to leave with you, okay? i promised to get you home after all," hyunjin comforted the boy in his arms, pulling him closer and running his hand through the boy's hair.

seungmin had unconsciously sunk deeper into hyunjin's arms as he heard the comforting words, wrapping his slender arms around the boy in return.

shortly after, his hiccups and sniffing had stopped completely. breaking away from hyunjin, seungmin rubbed his puffy eyes as he pouted, getting sleepy from crying his eyes out.

"come on, let's get you out of here before your family gets worried," hyunjin pinched the younger boy's pink cheeks while leading him towards the door at the back of the school by his hand.

seungmin, whose heavy eyelids had already been dropping, could only get dragged behind the taller boy.
