TW: light talk about rape.

Surprise update!!!

Drago knew he should keep his distance from the female, but that was difficult. It was clearly the mate smell she had, it was luring him in every time he passed the cave. Sure, he could just not pass the cave, but he didn't want to do that.

The cave was silent today, and Drago grew more and more nervous. Usually, when he was there, the pups were out playing with each other with the gorgeous woman looking after them.

There wasn't a sound today except for the occasional bird or rustling in the leaves above him. Drago was worried.

Suddenly, someone stepped out of the cave. It was the woman. She seemed distressed. She walked around for a while, tugging at her hair and letting out the occasional huff or grunt.

"I know you are in there," she said suddenly, but she didn't stop her pacing.

Drago stayed silent, hoping she wasn't talking about him.

"I mean you. The big black wolf."

Drago sighed and stood up. She stopped her pacing and turned fully to him. It looked like she had been crying.

"What do you want?" She asked, but made no move to come near him. "You have come here every day for the past 3 months. You don't say anything, you don't take anything, you just sit there in the bushes."

Drago cleared his throat and scratched the back of his neck. He hoped she had picked up the same smell he had.

"I am intrigued by you. Your smell, and your pups. I just wonder what you are doing out here all alone with them. They don't look older than 3," Drago said and cautiously began to approach the woman.

"What do you mean by smell?" The woman asked and took a step back.

"I mean..." Drago trailed off and scratched his beard in thought. How was he going to explain this? "Your smell attracts me to you."

"How would it do that?" The woman asked and began to walk around him as he stopped.

"You don't know about mate scent?" Drago asked and felt slightly intimidated by the woman.

"I barely know what it is," the woman said and stopped in her tracks and looked down for a split second before looking back up at him.

"What do you know?" Drago asked.

"Only that only possible mates to the wolf have the smell and only those two can smell it," the woman said and a small, faint blush made its way to her cheeks. She knew what it was.

"How are your pups?" Drago asked as he served she needed some time to think about the new revelation.

"Why are you so interested in my pups?" The woman asked, a growl in her voice.

"I have seen how much you care for them. Are their father around?" Drago asked and saw how the woman tensed and clearly fought to turn away from him.

"He left. Never bother to stay in the first place... Never knew him either," the woman said and her head slowly began to look downward.

Drago clenched his fist. How someone could do that he did not understand. Such evil. How could such an evil create so lovely pups? How could such evil ever think to put a hand on someone? How was there such evil in this world?

"I am sorry for that," Drago said and unclenched his fist.

The woman looked up and stared at him. He had never seen her eyes like this. She looked vulnerable. Her eyes were glazed over with tears and her arms were tightly wrapped around her middle.

"My pups are sick," she finally said and gestured to the cave and began to walk in. She stopped and looked at Drago for a while. "You can come."

Drago smiled and walked behind her into the cave, making sure to keep his distance.

They made it inside and Drago's heart broke. In a small pile of wool laid the two pups. They were both covered in wool, their noses were red and they were sickly pale.

"They have been sick before, but never like this," the woman said and sat down beside them.

"Mom?" The redheaded pup asked and turned around. "I don't feel very good."

"I know honey," the woman said and stroked the small girl's hair.

Drago could only watch. This was bad. If these pups didn't get something for whatever they had, they would most likely die.

"Do you know by any chance what they might have?" Drago asked and came closer. The woman didn't indicate for him to move so he cautiously placed a hand on the small boy's forehead. He was burning up.

"No, they are just incredibly weak. They can't eat, barely drink and they say they feel too bad to even sleep," the woman said and let tears stream down her face.

"It might be wolfsbane," Drago said and carefully opened the boy's eye. They were bloodshot.

"The flower?" The woman asked. "I haven't had them near it."

"No, it is a werewolf disease. It attacks mainly weaker werewolves and pups. It can infect stronger werewolves as well but that is extremely rare," Drago said and was surprised she didn't know about this.

"Is it something that can be cured? Do they need medicine? Rest? A special type of food?" The woman asked frantically while desperately looking at the kids.

"It is deadly," Drago said and gave her an apologetic look.

The woman burst out crying and held onto the girl.

"Mama, why are you crying?" The small girl asked in a groggy voice. "Am I going to die?"

"No, honey. You are going to be just fine," the woman sobbed and held onto the girl.

"You aren't a good liar," the girl mumbled tiredly and nuzzled into the woman's neck.

The woman didn't answer and just held her daughter close to her chest.

"I believe I know a cure that might work, or it might speed up their... Inevitable death," Drago said and absently stroked the boy's hair from his eyes. How was he so warm?

"Please, anything to save them," the woman pleaded.

"Even if it means they might die?" Drago asked.

"If it works, they will be healthy and be able to live... If they die... At least their pain is over," the woman sobbed as she stroked the girl's hair and held the boy's hand.

"I can go out and find ingredients for the cure. From what I am seeing they have about a week," Drago said and tried his best to give the woman a reassuring look. He wasn't sure how it looked with the scar on his lip.

"Please," the woman pleaded.

"But, it will be very difficult," Drago said and scratched his beard.

The woman suddenly stiffened and put the small girl down.

"Do you need anything? I can give you payment if that is what do you want," she said and nervously played with her fingers.

Drago looked at her for a while before it clicked. His eyes widened. How could she even suggest that?!

"No! I will never! I just need your trust!" He stopped up for a while and took a deep breath. "I need you to trust that I will get your pups healthy," Drago said sternly and saw the woman relax immediately.

"I trust you," she said and nodded her head. "Please save my pups."

Drago nodded and stood up.

"My name is Ruby. Just so you know," the woman said and Drago smiled.

"My name is Drago."

And with that, he ran out to try and find the ingredients he needed for the cure.

A/N: sorry for it being a while since I posted, but now you get one a little early, how is that?

I have finished a lot of my other books now so I have a little more time for this, but exams are starting for me, and I am working on an original story... So we will see how my updating schedule goes.
