Chapter 6- Coming to an agreement

"Violet Rose Harrison! I can not believe you!" My mother shouted. Her face was so red, I'm surprised smoke isn't coming out of her ears.

"Violet! You promised, pinky-promised, us that you wouldn't  get in any type of jail again!" My dad joined, anger waving off him in waves.

I cringed and glanced at Lee in panic, he was sitting there with a nervous expression on his face.

"And you!" My mom roared, turning her attention to Lee, "We are most disappointed in you, Liam!"

Everyone, even my dad, cringed when we heard the L-word. She didn't need to call him by his full name- the first was enough to make him crap his pants.

"Mom!" Lee begged, "I was just trying to protect my little sister! Please forgive me-"

"No Liam! You made your choice when you bailed Violet out of mall jail and didn't tell us!" She glared at the both of us. "Liam, go get in the dog house." She demanded, pointing towards the back door that leads to our backyard.

"Darling." My father cut in, "We sold it on e-bay, remember?"

"Oh, yeah..." My mom said, looking down in disappointment and letting her arm drop in defeat.

How did they even know about my being in jail if Lee never told them? - I'd ask out loud, but mom was one wrong word away from selling me and Lee, just like the dog house.

"How did you even find out where I went?" Lee asked instead, he wasn't scared of being sold on e-bay and was facing this problem head-on.

"The tracker chips in your necks, of course." My father replied with a roll of his eyes, as if he was talking about the weather.

Tracker chips!?

Lee must have thought the same thing, because we both reached up and grabbed our necks in panic. After a few seconds of searching, I found a little bump identical to Lee's on the side of my neck.

"You said it was a hereditary bump passed down through generations!" I gasped as I stared open-mouthed at my parents.

My father shrugged, "Sorry not sorry, honey. We didn't want to ever lose you and look like bad parents. Hate the game, not the player."

"I'll cut out yours if you cut out mine." Lee bargained with me, a nervous expression on his face.

Before I could answer 'yes', our mini-conversation was cut off by our mothers laughter, "Oh, honey! Did you think it would be that easy?" She smirked, looking truly evil, "Those babies are dug so deep in there, you would most definitely cut out a major artery trying to remove it!" She finished with an evil cackle.

What the hell?!

"Anyway." My mother stopped laughing, a sweet smile on her face, "V, Lee, since we don't have a dog house, you are both grounded for 2 weeks. That means no electronics, TV, or computery what-nots." She turned to leave, "Lee, that also means no friends."

"Wait! I'm aloud to have friends over?" I ask confused.

My mom spun back around, "Of course not, I just didn't bother telling you since Lucy is in Poland" She clarified.

"Hey!"

"Tootles!" My mom shouted as she grabbed my dad by the collar and left, dragging him with her.

Once they were out of sight and hearing-range, Lee grumbled, "This is what I get for trying to help my little sister- 2 week grounding. I'm 20 for goodness-sake! I shouldn't get grounded anymore!"

"That's what you get for being 20 and still living at home." I respond with a smirk.

"You're one to talk, you're 16 and have been arrested 5 times." Lee retorted, "What did you even do this time?"

"Didn't the mall cop tell you?" I asked, putting an emphasis on 'mall' to remind him it wasn't real jail this time.

"No." Lee replied, "Well, yeah. But I didn't listen."

"Why not?"

"I was too busy trying to find a way to sneak in without mom and dad finding out."

"How did that work out for you?"

"It didn't."

I sighed in annoyance, deciding to tell him what happened, "It was Ash." I explained.

"I know that already! He is the reason you are in jail every time! Well, except that 'pedophile' incidence... What did you two fight about that landed you in jail?"

"Oh. We ran into each other at the mall."

"And?"

"He threw me in the mall fountain."

"Wasn't Aaron at the mall with you?" He asked confused. "Why didn't he- I don't know- not let Ash throw you into a fountain?"

I growled at the mere thought of Aaron. "He ditched me! I was being such a good friend to him and he... he betrayed me." I said my anger turning to sadness.

"Hey." Lee said, pulling into a side-hug. "You wanna know something funny about betrayal?"

"What?" I ask, sinking into his side. and enjoying this brother-sister bonding thing that was happening.

"It never comes from your enemies. That means, if you feel betrayed, Aaron is still your friend. Just go get his side of the story. If you are serious about being his friend, show him that through forgiveness."

"I'd rather burn his house down."

"That works too." Lee nods in approval and stands up, "Go have fun, just don't mess with my fireworks- I worked hard to get those."

"Why would you need fireworks?" I ask confused.

"Shhhh..." Lee responds, slowly backing away with his fingers to his lips. After making his way to the exit, he turned around and ran out of the room.

What is that idiot up to this time? Please don't tell me he is going to get revenge on the barber that made his hair 'too spiky' one week ago.

Before I could chase after Lee and ensure the safety of the barber, I heard a knock on the door.

I sighed in annoyance and stood up. I dusted myself off and made my way to the door. I swung it open and reveled who was on the other side. After being informed on who the intruder was, I swung it shut again.

"Come on, Violet! I just want to ask you something!" Aaron's voice seeped through the door.

"Go away, Aaron!" I yell back, "If you hate me as much as you say you do, then leave!"

"I do hate you! But, I wanted to know who those amazing people at the mall were!"

"Oh? So you can betray me again and join the enemies side? I don't think so!"

"Please, Violet! I wanted to talk to them- see if there is an anti-Violet club I can join with them."

"I only give away information to my friends!"

There was silence at the door, then a quiet voice on the other side, "You don't want to be my friend anymore?" Aaron asked, his voice sounded small. Am I imagining it, or did he sound sad?

"Hallelujah! I don't have to deal with you anymore!" Aaron finished with a cheer.

Of course I imagined it.

I swung the door open again and grabbed an unsuspecting Aaron by the collar, "Marie, you have 10 seconds to explain why you ditched me and earn my friendship back."

Aaron held his pointer finger up and spoke "One: I don't want be your friend." He put up another finger "Two: I never wanted to be your friend." Up goes another finger, "Three: I will never want to be your friend." He angrily raised his forth finger, "Four: My name is not Marie, stop calling me 'Marie" or die." He finished with a growl.

I let go of Aaron and sighed, "Look, I really want to be your friend. Maybe we can create some agreement or something." I negotiate.

"Agreement?" Aaron asked, now interested.

"Yeah. Agreement: the act of agreeing or of coming to a mutual-" My explanation was cut off by Aaron's annoying voice.

"I know what an agreement is!"  He snapped.

"I'll tell you  my relations with the two people in the mall and in return, you will be my friend for the entire summer. After summer is over, you can go off and do what you want- just be my friend for the summer." I bargain with a smile.

"Please, that is a stupid deal. I could find out who they are anyway."

He has a point...

"I won't tell anyone your middle name- Marie- if you become my friend again." I try to sweeten the deal.

"How about you stop calling me Marie all together?" Aaron suggested with his signature frown.

"Not gonna happen."

"Fine, then I get to call you Vio- If your calling me something no one else does, I want to do the same."

Vio... No. Hell no. No one is allowed to call me 'Vio'. A familiar pang in my chest hit as I recalled the only person I ever let call me Vio. I know it's in the past, but what they did to me will never be forgiven. I will never forget what he did, it's impossible to. "Don't call me that!" I snap, my mind back in the present.

"Is it a deal, Vio? You tell me who those people were, don't tell anyone my middle name, and let me exclusively call you Vio, I'll be your friend for the summer." He asked, holding out his hand.

I sigh and stare at his hand. I hate the name Vio, but it might be something I'll have to endure to get to my goal. Plus, if this is an actual deal and not blackmail- he might not leave me stranded at the mall next time. "Deal." I finally decide and grab Aaron's hand, giving it a firm shake.

Wait, was Lucy right? Is coming to mutual agreement actually better than blackmail?...

Nah, nothing is works better than blackmail.

"Violet! What did I say about having friends over?" The shrill voice of my mother broke the air and shattered me and Aaron's friendship-building moment.

Dang it! I forgot about that!

"Not to." I responded, looking down at my feet with shame and dropping Aaron's hand.

"Sorry Ms. Harrison." Aaron apologized, "I didn't realize Vio wasn't allowed to have any friends over."

"It's okay, Aaron and-" My mom cut herself off and looked at him in surprise, "Did you just call her Vio?"

Aaron gave my mom a look that said what-are-you-talking-about-of-course-I-did-do-you-need-hearing-aids? and then responded, "What? Is something wrong with the name Vio?"

"Nothing." My mom said with a smile, "It's just that the last person who called Violet 'Vio'-her father, John- was, well, hospitalized once V was done with him." She cringed, "You would never think an 8-year-old could do so much damage."

"Oh." Aaron responded, giving me a weird look, "Mrs. Harrison, if you don't mind my asking, why isn't Violet allowed to have any friends over?"

"We grounded her because Lee snuck out last night and stole $200."

"How is that her fault?"

"Lee snuck out to pick her up from mall jail and the money was for her bail."

"Oh... Why was she in mall jail?"

"Ash threw me in the mall fountain." I said with anger, clenching my fists and ready to murder.

Aaron raised his eyebrow at me in question, but I sent him a It's-a-long-story-that-I-don't-want-to-tell-you-so-just-forget-about-it glare.

"So... How long is Vio going to be grounded?" Aaron asked instead, with a hopeful expression no less.

"2 weeks." My mother replies with a sympathetic expression pointed at Aaron, not me.

Because why would she be sympathetic towards her own flesh and blood?

"Great! Vio, write me a note with all the info on those people at the mall and give it to me tomorrow. Then I'll leave you to your punishment! See ya then!" He cheered and left without another word.

"Come on, V. Get your butt inside before I smack it." My mother snaps from behind.

I make my way back into the house with one thought in mind: these next two weeks are going to suck.

In the distance, I could hear Aaron cheer, "Two whole weeks of freedom!"

Sometimes, I hate my life...

A/N

Do you think Lee and V got off easy, or were they punished enough?

What is going to happen next?

Will the protagonist win the vampire-werewolf-creature's heart- or lose it all?... Sorry, wrong book.

But in all seriousness, feel free to... widen your vocabulary because I can't even count the amount of times I have wrote 'feel free to' in my A/N's...
