Chapter 33

Kirishima and Tetsutetsu had an arm wrestling match to decide who was moving on to the next round. Kirishima won.

The first round was complete. Only 8 competitors remained.

The first match of the second round was going to be interesting. Shoto Todoroki vs Izuku Midoriya.

Todoroki shot an ice wall at Midoriya, but he managed to shatter it with the force of flicking his finger. It was both defence and offence. Midoriya was willing to break his finger in order to beat Todoroki. This series of attacks happened again and again. If Midoriya wasn't careful, he would have no fingers left.

Todoroki saw an opening, and ran towards Midoriya on a bridge of ice. He'd caught Miforiya's foot in some ice, but before he could immobilise him further, Midoriya smashed the ice, this time using his whole fist to punch it. He screamed out in pain, and the force from the punch broke his whole arm. It also created a gust of wind that almost sent Todoroki out of bounds. Almost.

Todoroki sent him another shot of ice, intending to end the match. Midoriya flicked his finger, destroying the ice. He flicked his broken finger. Midoriya yelled something at Todoroki. The cold in Shoto's eyes seemed to fade slightly as his eyes widened. He seemed to have been inspired by what Midoriya had told him. He ran towards Midoriya. Midoriya's other arm started glowing now; he punched him.

They were both so driven to win the match. They kept throwing attack after attack at each other, but they were both still standing.

Midoriya yelled something at Shoto. Something everyone in the stadium could hear. "It's your quirk, not his!" I'd told Shoto that before. Years ago. He'd just ignored me. What was he going to do now his bestie Midoriya had said it to him?

Shoto's eyes shimmered and a swirl of fire erupted. I slumped slightly in my seat, but kept my face emotionless, but the corner of my lip raised slightly. He'd used his fire. He'd finally done it. He was smiling. Because of Midoriya.

But Endeavour just had to show up and ruin the moment. "Yes Shoto!" The crowd went quiet. "Have you finally accepted your purpose? That's it. Very good. This is the dawn of a new era for us. With my blood in your veins, you'll surpass me. You will live up to the reason I created you." Was he not embarrassed? Why was he proud of what he'd done? He was insane.

Shoto didn't even look at him. He kept his fire burning, and I swear I saw a tear run down his cheek.

Shoto prepard his fire and ice for an attack, while Midoriya's arm started to glow, preparing to punch with his power. They were going to attack simultaneously. However, before they could reach each other, Cementos created big walls between them, blocking their attacks, before they got hurt.  The walls were pummelled by the attacks, and the gust of wind created was astronomical.

Once the dust had cleared, we saw Midoriya, collapsed, well out of bounds. Todoroki had won.

There was a break before the next match: Tokoyami vs Shiozaki. Tokoyami won.

Next was me vs Iida. I was going to win.

I stood opposite him in the ring. "Go!" yelled Mic. No one moved.

He smiled. "Are you planning to blow me away?"

"Obviously," I replied.

"I won't give you the chance to do that." He started running towards me. He was so quick. I stood still, waiting for the right time, as he charged right at me. I could hear people in the crowd yelling at me to move out of the way, or use my quirk, but again, I ignored them. When he was about 2m in front of me, I quickly took a step to the left. He ran straight past me. I'd been hoping he'd be going so fast, he wouldn't be able to stop fast enough. Alas, he was able to put on the brakes just in time. He was still in bounds.

He turned to me, his face covered in shock. "That was sneaky, but you can't fool me."

"Can't I?"

"Before your last match, you'd never appeared to have a quirk, but now, you suddenly surprise everyone with wind manipulation. Intriguing, sure, but you can't beat me. I've been training my quirk my whole life. I have something to fight for. I cannot let you defeat me. You will not defeat me." Wow, what a chivalrous speech.

I couldn't tell if it was fighting talk, or if he was being serious. "Sorry to burst your bubble, darling, but I just can't let that happen," I said, as I tightened my ponytail. I took off my jacket, and held it in front of me, as if I were a bull fighter.

He scoffed. "What, do you think I'm a raging bull, or something?"

"That's exactly what I think."

He scowled and charged at me again. I stepped out of his way and followed his movement with my jacket as he ran past, predicting his moves. This happened 2 more times. Each time it happened, the crowd cheered loudly. He ran at me again. This time, he was prepared for me to slide left, so I slid right. But he still did not go out of bounds. He ran at me again, with both hands extended to catch me, but this time I jumped over him as he went past, putting my hands on his shoulders and vaulting over him. I put my jacket over his head as he ran past. Yet he still managed to stop before running out of bounds. He threw the jacket off his head, and was raging like a bull. He also looked very tired. Good.

He looked back at me and I smiled at him. "Hatsumei was right, it is fun to mess with you."

He glared at me. This was an opening for me. I pointed my palms towards him and worry washed over his face; and rightly so. I slowly started moving my arms around (like in avatar) and I lifted off the ground slightly, as a sphere of air started to appear around him. He looked genuinely scared as he attempted to run and quick his way out, but soon, he could no longer be seen. I pushed out my palms, and the sphere shot out, stopping just out of bounds. I released him and dropped my arms down to my sides, and gracefully fell back onto the ground. He had been so heavy. Iida fell to the ground as the sphere of wind dispersed, landing just out of bounds. He looked distraught, but I couldn't help smiling. I had won. The crowd was cheering for me now. I bowed once again. I went over to where Iida had thrown my jacket, and picked it up. I started walking off the stage, back to my seat. I didn't bother going back to Iida, to console him or shake his hand or pick him up.

I could've beaten Iida on without a quirk. Everyone now knew I had wind manipulation, so why not have a little fun.

Present Mic was going ballistic on the loud speaker, about how powerful my quirk seemed to be. Aizawa agreed with him, and said it was great that he had such powerful students in his class. He also said he was looking forward to getting to know me and my quirk more. Well that wasn't going to happen. He'd discarded me before, when I hadn't used my quirk. I hadn't needed to use my quirks to be successful at every challenge he threw at us, and yet, he'd seen me as weak and useless, because he assumed I was useless. Now I showed him my quirk, he was 'looking forward to getting to know me better'? Absolutely not.
