Jackson Cole

This really is hard to write so please. . . forgive me. IF THE NAME SOUNDS FAMILIAR, I JUST THOUGHT OF IT. NO SUPER ACTOR OF SOME KIND.

    Jackson Cole POV

My twin sister Jessie eyed me as I scrolled through my phone on the dining table. Her lingering eyes wandered of to an empty contact with a name Annabeth Chase.
"Please, you wish," she said laughing. She picked up her bowl of cereal from her lap and set it inside the sink. "You'll never even get to know her. She always pushes people away. Except me." Her hand turned the faucet on while she dripped some soap onto the bowl. She was still in her Pikachu pajamas and t-shirt. She always wore a purple jacket and I've never seen her take it off...ever. Her hair always covered half of her face on the left side.
She was right. Annabeth Chase and my sister were the best of friends in the school. They both looked alike except my sister had auburn hair and Annabeth had blonde hair. Her eyes were as stern as Jessie's, both had grey eyes.
My sister was in the twelfth grade with Annabeth and me. Duh.
I sighed. "How would you know? You haven't even known her for a year!" A smile crept onto my face. "I'm the captain of the football team, basketball team, and the swim team. No girl can resist me."
"I don't even know how you can be my brother." I heard her mutter in her breath. Jessie looked at me with stern grey eyes, "Or they're trying to avoid you. You can't even keep a relationship for a week, dear brother. What more of chances with Annabeth. Don't even think of trying to flirt with her. Her boyfriend might just kill you. Or if not, I will." She sprinkled some water into my eyes. "Get up and get dressed. School starts in an hour." At the same time, she handed me a bunch of keys to our house.
She went behind the kitchen counter and began to cook me my snack. As much as I HATE bringing homemade pancakes to school, Jessie makes the best pancakes ever. She always knew the right proportion and often ranted at the pancake box.
"What's this for?" I asked her looking at each of the keys and naming them at the same time. "You know Angeline will kill you if she knew you handed this to me." I breathed in the aroma of the cooking pancakes.
Jessie smirked. "Cut the faking. I know you like it when you get to handle the keys. Besides, I've talked with her. I am needed back at my summer camp for the weekend to arrange some events for the new campers. I'll be picked up after school by my friends. NO FUNNY BUSINESS, JACKS. You know how dangerous it is for you to go elsewhere than this house and school, without me." There she is again, with her camp thingy. She said she was dubbed emergency cabin counselor for the meantime, because the original counselors were busy in other places and she was the closest person available.
Jessie always acted like an adult that is in charge. She is so protective of me.
I stood up and groaned. "Why do you have to go to that camp again? Can't I go with you this time?" You might ask, why the hell would you ask that? My sister was perfectly fit. She had a perfect shape and amount of muscles. One time, she brought five of her friends over to our house from camp and they were as beautiful as her. I'm not crushing over my sister, I'm just saying those girls were hot.
"Jack, remember the last time I brought some friends over from camp?" Jessie raised a brow at me. Yes, of course. "You were flirting with all of them. AND THEY ALL HAD BOYFRIENDS!!!"
I whined. "They were all hot!"
"Maybe, when you are ready, Jack." She sighed and whispered in a really soft voice. "Chiron said it would be safer if you won't go until the war was over."
    "What war?"
She shook her head. "I meant feud of cabins. My camp might have special programs that make us look this way, but it's not for showing off." Jessie flipped a pancake so high that it nearly touched the ceiling before she caught it with the pan by throwing it to the air too.
I crossed my arms and frowned. "Yeah right." I said walking up to my room.

    ---At school---
"Dude, get a load of this," Henry, my best friend, help up his phone in my face.
I squinted my eyes when the bright light of his phone made contact with my eyes. "Too near!"
He dropped the phone on my side of the table and brought out a photo of his dream girlfriend, Piper McLean. "Piper is coming over for the swim meet against Goode tomorrow. She's going to be the judge later."
I am proud of Henry. He never got this close to his dream girlfriend. "That's cool dude, though, what's up with the phone? I mean, yes, it's the latest model but you showed this to me yesterday!" I sipped some chocolate milk that Jessie prepared too.
Henry rolled his eyes at me. "Mom had a meeting with Tristan McLean yesterday with Piper McLean. When they finished, Piper was spotted to be hanging out with Annabeth Chase and...wait for it, Jessica Cole!"
I spit out some chocolate milk. "Are you serious?! MY SISTER?!"
Everyone in the cafeteria looked at us jocks.
Henry laughed while trying to make eye contact. "Yeah. They were wearing the same t-shirts, dude."
"Orange ones? With some weird symbols?"
    He nodded surely.
I groaned. "They are from the same camp. I can't believe her! Annabeth, Jessie, and Piper. My sister's going there to plan events this afternoon."
Just then, Jessie came into the cafeteria walking with so much pride. She was wearing her trusty purple jacket over a grey t-shirt. Her hair was tied up loosely into a ponytail with some left over hair still covering her face. Seriously, what is with fashion these days.
In her hands were a bunch of blueprints which she set down on her designated table. Behind her followed Annabeth Chase and Piper McLean, who were looking stern. They all had dust on their shoulders and it seems like they weren't joking around.
"I told you we will discuss this, later." Jessie hissed unfolding the blueprints.
Annabeth flipped her hair to one side as they all sat down. "Jessie, we can't have Percy clear out the woods alone. I checked out this plan you left after our loss last friday. I know you want to win so badly, so I teamed up with cabin ten, Piper agreed to talk this over. Besides, Percy has a swim meet tomorrow against this school. I say we charm cabins that are guarding the flag so that Percy won't have to work too hard." I overheard Annabeth whisper. She brought out a bottle of water and some pebbles. One by one, she arranged them. "Piper will be standing with cabin ten by the creek. At least, those who are present."
Piper looked over at the blueprints. "Who are we against anyways? I mean, the fight from last week got cabin five's pride up so probably them. Cabin Six and Five are the biggest rivalries at camp, so I'm guessing they're against."
Jessie pulled out a piece of paper. "We lost last week because we weren't there. Now, we're taking back our throne of champs. I knew we shouldn't have left Steffi to do the planning. Cabin Eleven stole the plans right out of her hands." She looked over at the piece of paper. "Let's see. Hmm, Chiron noted these and gave it to me. Cabin Five has made alliance with all cabins except those who won't join."
    "ALL THE CABINS!!!???" They shrieked.
Annabeth covered her mouth. "That could only mean-"
"Could it be?" Piper held her forehead and looked at Jessie
    She exhaled. "We're against-"
"The Hunters." They all said together.
Jessie looked over the blueprints, raised them and tore them into pieces. "We need a new plan stat. Not even our planning of one month can beat them."
Annabeth looked hopefully into the ceiling. "I'm sorry, Seaweed Brain, but, you night not be able to rest tonight." She looked back at the other two girls. "As long as Mackenzie isn't present. We're gonna be fine."
"Too late to say that isn't it?" A voice with a hint of British accent spoke. I turned to see something I wasn't expecting. A girl the age of fourteen appeared at the cafeteria doors. She had weird silver hair and she was wearing hunters outfit.
"MACKENZIE!!!" Piper screamed worriedly. "I thought you were back in Britain!"
I looked over at Henry who was staring at Piper with lovey dovey eyes. "Isn't she beautiful when she's worried? Can't she just leave Jason for me? But, Mom would kill me if she knew I was trying to ruin a relationship."  What the hell is he talking about. Henry sighed then he was alarmed. "Wait a second, did they say Hunters?"
"Who the hell is Jason?" I asked him curiously as he stood up.
Henry ignored me and walked over to the table of the girls. "Hey guys." He said casually.
Piper smiled at him. "Listen, Henry, I'm sorry for hurting your feelings but, I love Jason and not you." Her eyes looked over to me.
Henry shook his head laughing. "Piper, no need to act. Thanks for helping me. That was just to sell the act with you know who there. Is it true that I'll have to lure him to camp now? And that the hunter's are coming?"
Piper nodded. "Chiron said it's time for him."
Jessie smiled in excitement. "I can't wait to crush him in everything." Who the hell are they talking about?
Annabeth rolled her eyes at Jessie. "At least, once he knows the truth, he will stop flirting with me."
Henry then did something that shocked me. He gave Piper a bear hug which made her shriek and laugh. "Come'er Piper!" What the hell? Once he stopped, he spoke again. "I'll see you guys later."
"Yes the hunters are coming. Sorry Henry, but, we can't hang around." Mackenzie winked. "We'll be busy with working in the camp. We'll have to schedule our hang out some other time."
"Though, I agree with Piper, why are you back so soon?"
"I wouldn't miss my first capture the flag, of course," Mackenzie smirked. "The Lady wished me to join every Friday at camp, so that I can spend time with you guys. And I have great news, I get to choose which team I will attend to since I am a new camper, not only a hunter." What?
I couldn't believe my eyes.
The next couple of seconds Jessie, Annabeth, and Piper, were all begging her to join their team using different tactics, Henry was laughing.
Piper was speaking with so much force that I had to slap myself to get rid of the idea of joining whatever it is.
Jessie and Annabeth practically saying the same things.
"Come on, Mackenzie. For your sister's sake!" Annabeth cried out loud. Then she whispered. "For my sake, as your sister"
Mackenzie frowned. "I'm sorry guys, I have made my decision and it is final." They all frowned. "I'm going as cabin six!"
Annabeth made a fist bump to the air as she brought out a new roll of blueprints. She nearly opened it before Jessie stopped her hands.
"Not here, Annabeth," Jessie glared right at me. "My brother gets nosy on these kinds of things. Piper can go back to CHB with Mackenzie to start planning. Henry, we'll see you on Monday. We'll talk later, Annabeth."
Annabeth looked at our direction and smiled. "Sure, Jess." Then Piper and Mackenzie walked out of the cafeteria leaving me and Henry with Annabeth and Jessie.
Jessie excused herself and went to the bathroom. Just a random fact, my sister is a weirdo. She brings a knife literally everywhere. Henry walked back to me and started holding in his laugh.
I'll show you, Jessie. I thought as I stood up to make my move on Annabeth.
"What's so funny?" I asked. "And with Piper?"
"Nothing, just, she wasn't my type, I guess."Henry brushed my hair upwards making a bad boy hairstyle. I rolled my sleeves up a little bit to show my muscles off. "I'm just telling you dude, don't go too far." Then he exited the cafeteria.
"Hey Annabeth," I said with a hint of flirt. My eyes made contact with hers, not forgetting to flex my muscles.
Annabeth just giggled and brought out a sandwich with a trident burned to it. She stared at it in shock and just bit into it. "Hello, Jack," she said clearly not noticing my tone of affection.
Playing hard to get. I thought once again. This was going to be tougher than I thought.
"You look beautiful, baby." I said while twirling her hair to her side. I knelt down to her ear and whispered. "What do you say I pick you up after school so that we can hangout. My parents aren't home till seven nor is my sister ever gonna be there for the weekend." I kissed her ear slightly then pulled back.
Annabeth raised a brow at me and rubbed her ear in disgust. She tried to fake a smile. "No thanks, Jack. As much as I want to punch you now, I can't because Jessie is your sister. Plus, I have a boyfriend." She stood up brushing some crumbs off her perfect legs. I could've sworn she said something in the end in a different language like, "And, you're my brother too, idiot." I can't really know why I understood that but I can't be sure she actually said that.
She walked out just in time when the bell rang.

    ---After school---
I sat outside on the stone pavement of the school's front door. My head was some kind of aching in all sorts of ways. There was a thought of Annabeth rejecting me and the thought of Annabeth's weird sentence,
As if on cue, Jessie and Annabeth walked out laughing their heads off until they saw me on the stone pavement. . .alone, tired, and curious.
Jessie approached me and slapped me across my face. "I told you not to go near Annabeth!" She slapped me with her other hand. "I tried to tell you ALREADY!"
I stood up stopping myself from punching her. "What gives you the right to tell me what to do?! You've been acting like a mom to me when we're actually the same age. You'd never let me go anywhere except the house and this school. I've followed that rule for a long time, now, I feel like a prisoner." She always bossed me around telling me what to do all the time. "Sometimes, I'd wish you never existed in my life!" Okay fine, that was harsh but true. She never gave me some slack.
I knew Jessie was really hurt right now because tears were forming in her eyes. "All I have ever done in my whole life was to try to keep you safe, Jack. I sacrificed my time just to keep you safe." The tears in her eyes fell to the ground. She turned around and prepared to start running.
Annabeth grabbed hold of her jacket to stop her from running.
    "Let me go, Annabeth!"
Annabeth kept her ground. "You're not going anywhere, Jessica Cole."
Jessie stopped squirming and sighed. "Yes." She said brushing her hair back for the first time. I stared at her horrified. She had a black eye and a scar that went from her middle forehead to her cheek. It passed through her eye, luckily, it did no damage to her eye. [(•<\-) close enough, except it passes through the line, or eyes.] Just above the scar, her skin looked like it was poisoned. Her hair was thick enough to cover it all. No wonder she was very particular about it.
"I will." She looked around the parking lot and spotted a black van. Immediately, she slipped out of the jacket and started running towards the black van.
But before she could get away, I saw her arms and immediately knew why she hid them from everyone. They were ugly as hell. Her right arm was complete set of scars, wounds and bruises that trailed from her wrists up to her neck. Her other arm looked like the poison of her face continued down to her whole arm to her fingertips. That explains the fancy gloves.
It was too late to catch up to Jessie and Annabeth who had run after Jessie.
    "JESSIE!"
I was too late. She jumped into the van along with Annabeth. My eyes may be playing tricks on me, but Henry jumped into the van then it sped away at great speeds.
I was crushed in the inside. Yes, I may be a self absorbed jock, but it doesn't mean I don't care for anything. I got rejected by Annabeth, figured out my friend Henry was keeping secrets from me, and maybe ruined my chances of ever seeing my sister, who cooks the best food and always was there for me.
    I can't let that happen.
I looked around the parking lot and saw the car of Henry parked sideways. He had lent me his car keys and told me I could take it for a spin since he had emergency family things to do. Which seems to be the jumping into the van emergency.
My hands quickly grabbed the car keys in my pocket and I opened the doors to Henry's new white Lamborghini. He said his dad got it for him. Figures. Rich billionaire's son.
Though normally I would treat this as heaven and praise it, but I didn't even mind it. I had my priorities straight. All I want is the truth and what they're hiding.
I took a seat at the driver's seat and drove off, following the black van zipping through the streets of New York.
