Dani let herself get carried away in the kiss for like five seconds before she realised what really was happening. She pushed him away and as his hands and lips were removed from her face her broken heart took over. Without thinking Dani hit Daniel's cheek with her hand. Her eyes got big as she looked at him with shock. What did she just do? He looked just as shocked as she was, but before Daniel could ask her what he did wrong she ran away from her. He was about to run after her but didn't as he could see her run back to her house. He was feeling his cheek that was starting to burn as he tried to look away from the sight where Dani ran away to. He didn't want to lose her again, was what Daniel was thinking while Dani was thinking something else. As Dani made her way back home her mind kept asking her why she let this happen. She was glad that no one seemed to be in the kitchen as she got inside the house and acted like she was being followed by some creep. She closed the door behind her and she tried to get her heartbeat beating on the right pace. She knew her mom and dad were home. She could actually hear the television in the living room. So she tried to look not as shocked and confused before walking out of the kitchen and greeting her parents before making her way upstairs. As soon as she found her bed she let herself fall down on her bed and hid under her blankets. She felt tired as all the emotions seem to gather together and fill her head. She eventually fell asleep while her mind kept working over hours, even in her dreams. 

The next morning Dani woke up with puffy eyes and an annoying headache. The house was quiet when she walked downstairs in a slow pace. She was confused about having the house to herself, at least that's what she thought as she didn't hear anyone. Even Terry was gone. She knew her parents had a day away together. Will maybe had to work and Kurt probably was gone with the dog, Dani guessed as she now arrived in the kitchen. She made herself a cup of coffee and sat down on a chair at the kitchen island. She stared at the cup in front of her as she waited until it cooled down a bit. Her head rested on her arm as she sighed. She was so in her own thoughts that she didn't hear the backdoor go open. It was until the door was closed softly that Dani looked up from her cup of coffee. She was startled by seeing Daniel at the door, looking at her. It wasn't the person she wanted to see at the moment. She didn't know if she should be apologising for hitting him or not. She decided to just ignore him as she picked up her cup of coffee and put it against her lips. In the corners of her eyes, she saw Daniel walk closer to her until he was standing next to her chair. 
'Are you that pissed at me for kissing you that you decided to just ignore me, again?' Daniel asked shaking his head disapproving of her actions. His question made Dani's eyebrows raise up. Ignore him again? Excuse me? 
Dani put her cup down on the kitchen island as she stood up and looked at him. 
'Ignore you? When did I ignore you?' Dani asked in a mockery way. She suddenly didn't feel like being nice. 
'Has Adelaide giving you sudden memory loss? Or did your two bodyguards hit you too many times on your head?' Daniel asked. Apparently, he didn't feel like being nice to her too. She didn't like him talking about Oliver and Finn in the way that he did. Dani wanted to put him on his place, but he wasn't done talking. 'How can you forget about the morning after prom?!' 
Dani felt angry by him mentioning the memory that still hurt in her heart. 
'Yeah, let's talk about the morning after prom, shall we?' Dani said with the anger hearing in her voice. 'Let's talk about me showing you my most vulnerable side, knowing how much it meant to me, for you to just leave the next morning and never contacted me again.' Tears started to well up as she kept talking from out of her heart. 'I was heartbroken about it Daniel. Not only because I suddenly lost my best friend, but also because I meant it when I told you I loved you. I don't think it was possible to be really in fucking love with someone like that. But we were teenagers so it didn't really matter, right?' Her tears had already been making a path down her face as she looked straight into Daniel's brown eyes. 
'Dani,' Daniel whispered as his heart broke right at that time seeing her best friend in such pain. He tried to put his arms around her, but she rejected him by taking a step backwards. It was at that moment that Will stepped in the kitchen. He had secretly listened to the conversation, not on purpose, but he did want to know if Dani was okay. And by the sounds of it, she wasn't. 
'Daniel I think you should leave,' he said, sending him for the first time ever out of their house. Dani turned around to see Will standing at the opening from the kitchen. 
'Will please, let me just explain. I-' Daniel got cut off by Will, who actually had enough of Daniel. Seeing his sister cry about a guy once was one time too much, but twice? That was for Will unacceptable. 
'I think you've done enough. Just leave,' At first Daniel didn't seem to listen to Will, but he realised that he needed to have this conversation with Dani alone, without any of her brothers with her. So he left through the door he came in and as Dani watched him leave she started to breathe out, not realizing until now that she had held her breath after Will told him to leave. 
'Are you okay?' Will asked his sister. She nodded and give him a small teary smile with tears escaping her eyes. Dani started to realize that what she had with Daniel before, will never come back the way she wished it would.
