Caitlin's POV

After beating Switzerland 3-1, it's all down to us to beat USA in the "final". Lia was very bitter after the loss against us so I made sure to give her extra love to make up for it. Considering I did score 2 of the goals too. We have one meal before heading to Wembley for the game, we have 20 minutes before then so I decided to start texting Lia.

To Lia <3: Still bitter I see😘Really excited but nervous tbf.

From Lia <3: You'll be fine love. Gutted I can't come and watch you there but I'll be supporting from the hotel. ❤️

To Lia <3: You're the best. Wish you could be there. 🙁❤️

Because I was so focused on texting Lia, I lost track of time. Mackenzie shouted at me multiple times and at last, I finally heard. We quickly rushed down to the dining hall and got our food.

Lia's POV

Today Caitlin and Australia play against the USA. Me and a few of the England girls have planned to surprise Caitlin at the game and I'm excited. Although it'll be a bad reunion if they lose tonight. Leah and Jord texted to let me know that they're on their way. We'll all be going for some food before heading to the VIP Access at Wembley.

After having a pepperoni pizza, we all had one of two beverages before leaving. A few fans spotted us leaving and of course we stopped for some photos. They mainly wanted photos with Leah which is understandable. Jordan was getting so protective, it was kinda cute.

We then started to make our way to the stadium. We got into the entrance pretty quick so we went to get some soft drinks before heading to our VIP box. I cannot wait to see my girl play.

Caitlin's POV

After finishing food, we all headed to the bus to go to the game. I sat in my usual seat next to Mackenzie Arnold and I just pit my headphones in. I started to text Lia, my nerves were setting in so I just wanted some words of wisdom from her. She just gets me.

We finally arrive at the stadium and we all took some time to sign a few shirts and take some photos with some fans who were waiting outside. Surprisingly, there was a few Australian people there, who came all the way from there to support. It makes things like this more appreciative.

After warming up, we headed inside to the changing room. I kissed the ring that Lia and I have that match, I do it before every game because it gives me some sort of "luck" in a way. Let's see if I'm starting.

Commentary

Hello everyone, here today we have the final of this mini tournament between USA and Australia. The USA will be favourites but let's not write out the Aussies. Here's the starting 11 for both teams.

USA: Harris, Sonnett, Dahlkemper, Saurbrunn, O'Hara, Horan, Ertz, Lavelle, Press, Morgan and Heath.

Australia: Williams, Catley, Yallop, Kennedy, Carpenter, Lograzo, Simon, Cooney-Cross, Raso, Kerr and Fowler.

A surprise to not see Foord in the starting 11, maybe there's an injury issue?

First Half

23' Press crosses it and Heath connects to it. The ball goes straight into the top corner. What a goal for Heath and the USA. 1-0.

37' Raso runs through the middle and passes it wide to Fowler. The ball is then played to the edge of the area where Simon is waiting. She shoots, and she scores. What a goal. 1-1.

44' Morgan sees that Williams is off her line, she hits it but misses terribly.

Half time

USA 1 - Australia 1

Second half

65' Heath drives at Catley. She glides past her and cuts inside. She shoots and she scores again. SHES ON FIRE. 2-1.

70' Australia makes a change, Caitlin Foord is coming on to replace Raso.

77' Catley takes a corner kick. Kerr connects with the ball and heads it into the top corner. What a goal. 2-2.

83' Foord drives down the line and cuts inside. She takes a shot but it's saved by Harris. Foord has been heavily involved since coming in. Australia are still looking for the winner.

90+6' Catley goes out to take the last corner kick of the 90 minutes. Williams has gone up. Catley crosses and OH MY GOD. What have we just seen. Caitlin Foord rises above everyone else and scores a bicycle kick. The crowd is going crazy.

Caitlin's POV

I can't believe it. I ran to the corner and made a heart and then an "L" after it with my hands. For Lia of course. The girls came rushing from behind and jamp all over me. We all just fell down. Wembley is going crazy right now.

After going back to the centre of the pitch, the ref blew her whistle. We've done it, we've bear the USA and won the Trophy. I instantly drop to the floor and cry. Just from the feeling of relief.

Lia's POV

My girl is a superstar. Me, Jord and Leah and the others head down to the pitchside area where Caitlin is currently having her interview. Hopefully she doesn't start crying when she sees us. I'm going to be giving her an award so she'll be happy.

Caitlin's POV

Interview

Interviewer: Caitlin Foord, explain to us how you are feeling right now.

Caitlin: I can't believe it. My hearts so happy right now. I just wish a few special people were here to witness this in person.

Interviewer: Were you gutted on nit starting?

Caitlin: I mean yes but no. I played for the full 2 previous games and the manager just wanted to change things up. I've been dealing with a lot of things outside of football and I just wanted to give everything into this performance tonight.

Interviewer: Is there a special person who you dedicated your celebration to tonight?

Caitlin: Uh there was. She knows who she is and I'm just gutted that she's not here tonight.

Interviewer: Well, you got player of the tournament so we've got a special guest to give you the award.

I couldn't believe my eyes. Lia came from behind the board and gave me the award. Tears began to form in my eyes and she just stayed there smiling.

Lia: Surprise. Well done on an amazing tournament.

Caitlin: I'm literally speechless.

Interviewer: On that note, Thank you girls. Well done Australia and ti you, Caitlin on winning this trophy tonight.

Lia and I walked from the interview together and I just grabbed her into my arms. There was a few cheers from the fans who we near us and we separated from eachother. A few of the girls from Arsenal came to watch so I said hello to them before heading to have some photos with the girls.

Lindsey, Emily, Me and Hayley had a photo after the game and the photographers captured it. We said our goodbyes until we meet up again after Christmas.

It was now time for the trophy ceremony. We gave our applauses to USA for an amazing game and tournament and they repaid the favour when we lifted the trophy. I instantly looked for Lia and I could see that she was being escorted out by security and a few doctors. I rushed over to see what the issue was.

Caitlin: Hold on, what's going on here?

I could see that Lia was losing a bit of blood on her arm and her eyebrow area.

Lia: I've just been hit in the head with a glass bottle. I'm going to the hospital.

Caitlin: I'm coming with yo-

Lia: No Caitlin, you're staying here. Celebrate with your team. I'll tell you what, come to mine in around an hour and we'll watch Netflix for the night.

Caitlin: I love you. Text me once you get there. I'll phone you when I'm on my way.

Lia: I love you more. Now go and celebrate with your team.

I gave her a kiss before heading to the changing rooms with the girls.
