Chapter Twenty

After a long ride with your company I finally decided what to do. Well I guess I did, because I still have doubts. This city is sick and there is nothing I can do to help without getting in the middle of this mess, and to get there I have to infiltrate. I have no choice but to accept Jenna's proposal and join her.

I will have to change the information I discover in the GCPD for other things, for I think I will accumulate favors ... although the last time I did it was 5 minutes ago and resulted in a dead person!

MY GOD, I KILLED HER !!!!

I'm panicking! I didn't even hide the body! What if Ivy now uses it to incriminate me? How could I have been so sloppy ?! It's your fault!

Your fault?!

If you had not made me feel bored today at work, none of this would happened!

Can you please shill and stay calm?

Calm?! How can I be calm ?? If my ex-best friend comes to know that I killed his girlfriend or his assistant... Whatever she is
.... the next dead will be mine !!!!!!!!!!!!

Don't you think that Jenna would consider that?

MMMmmm .... You are able to be right, because if Jenna works for Jeremiah and Jenna asked Ivy to organize this little party, it's because Jenna surely knew I was going to do it. Right?!

Of course, you are protected by her and him!

What do you mean, I'm protected?

Just wait and see...

Well, it's better to be calm, because if I can kill my father, as you like to say, I'm also capable of killing Jeremiah Valeska, and maybe the city finally has a bit of peace.

THAT'S IS!!! If I infiltrate in his squadron and try to ruin his plans without him giving it up he'll start to get more and more careless and then I'll attack! It's perfect!
What do you think?

Maybe.. . It could work!

AWWW, I knew I could count on your help!

"Harleen ... I was not expecting ..."

"Screw you, I'm in!"

"I'm so happy with your decision, come in please!"

We spent the rest of the day and night talking, she explained to me what she did in a detailed way, and I decided to plan my own plan when I arrived at my apartment. It's good living alone! I can be myself and I have no one to judge me!

I move my wardrobe to one side of the room and begin to assemble my outline of sheets, photos and yarns of everything I've discovered so far about Gotham: Jeremiah Valeska had run away from his family because he was being abused by his twin brother. He had taken on a new identity and graduated from engineering. He decided to hide in Gotham with the help of his assistant Ecco. Until Jerome decided to end his brother's lucidity leading to insanity what caused him to isolate Gotham from the rest of the world for more than a year. It has gathered followers behind a test of devotion, where before the candidates faced with weapons, but now he has created a scenario full of traps and challenges, which causes many victims to appear, including Ecco's mother, in the middle of the confusion. His plan is to have someone inside Arkham and when the time comes they will attack so that they can reach the asylum bunker, where there is something in stored that Jerome has left behind. He wants to control GCPD and all his steps so that everything happens without interruptions!

What I have to do now is convey information that is not 100% true, and maybe I can survive a few more days until someone finds out ... I know it's risky! I'm scared too! But I believe there is a small chance that I will get away with it without being caught!

Next day, all quiet, there aren't many cases so far and Captain Gordon hasn't left the GCPD today, he's been up all morning talking to Bruce in the office. Maybe I should go see if he need any help.

"Capitain?"

"Yes, Harleen !?"

"I've already done the autopsies I had to do so far and have already delivered the results to Alvarez, do you need me for anything else?"

"I'll call you when I need you."

"Okay."

"Harleen, wait. I need to talk to you about something."

"Sure, Bruce!"

"I will leave you too alone."

"What do you want to talk about? Is everything alright?"

"Yes ... I just need your advice on something."

"What is it?"

"You helped with Selina situation ... I just need to vent to someone about something that has plagued me in the past and feel like I was responsible for what happened."

"Let's go to my office, shall we?"

"Thanks."

"So tell me, what happened that is haunting you?"

"Years ago I met Jeremiah and we became friends, but his brother drove him to madness and I felt the only thing that held his humanity to a certain extent was his need to have someone to love and take care of him.  I denied his request for help and that made me feel guilty for a while, but now I feel I need to do something so it does not happen again! "

"So that's what happened ..."

I should have told him that I had known Jeremiah when we were teenagers, but if I said that, he could research my past which could lead to severe discoveries.
So it's best to be quiet!

"He became a cold person because of that ..."

"How?"

"When I threw it to the acids it was the drop in the glass of water!"

"Acids? Is that a metaphor?"

"No! Literally Acids, on Ace Chemicals. But what do you suggest I do?"

"I think you should invest in your anger and turn it into power! It's the only advice I can give you with my years of experience in this life."

"Thank you, Harleen, you're a good friend!"

"I know the need to have a good friend at your age!"

"I did have a good friend, but she decided to choose another life."

"It was her destiny. You have to let them go at some point. "

"What happened to yours?"

"My what?"

"Your friend?"

"He was more than a friend, actually.I'm sorry it took me so long to realize my feelings for him and now it's too late ..."

"Have you tried to contact him?"

"Yes and found him ..."

"And there's no way you're going to tell him?"

"He's married ... It's like you said, Bruce, you have to let them go."

Theoretically, he is not married, but a killer and Gotham underground king, which is quite interesting. But no one needs to know that, since I'm a few years late to save him. Bruce and I have this in common, we abandoned the same person who gave all the signs of needing help! But now I have to pay for my mistakes!
