reality

Alexandra had woke me up 20 minutes before we were supposed to be at the studio by phoning me and telling me she was on her way. i had no clothes planned out so i grabbed whatever i could find on my floor and threw them on, i had found a pair of brown flares beside my bed and a cropped black long sleeved t shirt in my dryer. i was lucky enough to have washed my hair the night before so it at least looked presentable with a brush. i didn't even bother trying to put on makeup perfectly, i washed my face as quickly as i could and dug out a light concealer and mascara, my saving grace. as the buzzer rung though my house alerting me that alexandra was downstairs, i got my pair of black boots by the front door and left with nothing but my keys, purse and phone. as i exited the lift alexandra was standing by the entrance of the apartments she smiled warmly at me as we start to walk to her car,

before we get in she stops me in my tracks and gets me to do a little spin to show her my full attire, "you obviously put a lot of consideration into today, dressed to the nines for me." wiping an invisible tear away.

i raise my eyebrows getting into the passenger side, "you're being sarcastic right? i found this on my floor." i press the radio on and the kinks plays though the car as we pull out of the car park,

"jules! i care a lot about what these people think about us." she halts the car at a red light and turns to me wide mouthed, "these people are big in the business!"

i put a finger in front of her lips and let my mouth fall open copying hers, "girlie you said i look nice! and it's not even dirty i just pulled them out the draws and couldn't be bother putting them back in." i argued back.

"i'm not saying you don't look nice it's just you could have at least washed them!" shaking her head she starts to drive further into london, "are you nervous or something?" she peers over at me,

"they are clean lex." i lift legs up and place them on the dashboard, "no how?"

she pulls my legs down eyes still on the road as we pull into traffic, "feet off the dash! and because your going to eat your hand off by the looks of it." i hadn't even been paying attention to myself as i was sitting with my hand under my chin and chewing on my nails, a common site of juliet bowie in her early stages of fear.

i sit and think of an answer as to why im nervous but i don't even know, the traffic starts moving so i speak up, "i think im just unsure of what it'll be like, i don't really know these people and i've not been in a studio since my dad was around."

alexandra turns the volume down low on the radio, "it'll be fun just me and you having out with very professional music people, who may or may not make my career actually start." she pulls into a one way street and i noticed where we where, IME studios, where jake recorded his record and we finally ended our relationship.

we parked in the alley way beside the studio so we didn't have to pay for a parking ticket, and alexandra steps out looking around before pointing to the back door, "is this wh-"

i interrupt her swinging my legs out the car door but still sitting on the seat, "yeah." i cringe, taking my deck of cigarettes out my pocket and put one in between my lips,

she swipes my hand with the lighter away and takes the cigarette out my mouth handing me it back, "no stress smoking!" although she's just looking out for me it does get on my nerves every single time, and the fact that she acts more like a mother figure to me than my actual mum doesn't help.

i put the cigarette back into my deck and she's takes both my hands pulling me up and out of the car, her arms make their way around my shoulders once she locks the car and we walk into the lobby and the receptionist phones up to let them know we're here. a young girl around our age comes down to show us the main points of the building, the break room, bathrooms and the main studios where she left us to go in when we're ready, alexandria turns to me and takes deep breathe, "shitting it, no turning back now." she opens the blacked out door and the music from the other side pulls us in. stepping into where we're going to be for the next months and it was quiet, we were the only ones there other than two sound technicians who informed us that their boss was running late.

so what you're telling me is that i could have at least ironed my trousers, straighter my hair, brushed my teeth, shit i didn't brush my teeth! "there was a shop across the road right?" i ask alexandria and she nods with her eyebrows furrowed, "you want anything?"

"you can't leave me alone!" she whisper yells pulling me out of the studio and into the hallway,

i place both hands on either sides of her face, "girlie they're going to be late it's not like they'll miraculously make it here in 2 minutes? it's across the road i'll be back before you know it." i smile lightly

she sighs, "fine, get me a coke."

"what type?" i look at her with a sarcastic smile grin and she pushes my shoulder,

"the fucking drinking type jules, hurry please!" i turn my back on her and begin my walk to the shops, all i needed was coke for lex and extra gun and diet coke for me, how hard can this be.
