Kanmusu? (part 2)

Somewhere near Wake Island:

New Jersey: Admiral, I spotted intense combat close to our position. What is your order?

Arthur: They seems to be in big trouble. Very well, we shall help them. All ships, all ahead full.

New Jersey: You heard him, everyone. ALL AHEAD FULL!

Arthur: You know the drill. If it moves, it dies. If it dies, you move on. And, have fun.

Back to the battlefield:

Light Cruiser Demon and Aircraft Carrier Demon are standing in front of the knocked out kanmusu, with Fubuki and Mutsuki the only ones awake. With a cocky grin, Light Cruiser Demon loads her guns, takes aim and fire.

However, the last part is not to be, as she is struck by a 500lb bomb on her torpedo tubes, which sets off the loaded ordinance inside. Confused, she looks around trying to spot the attack, and she's met with the sight of a F-8 Crusader decimating the Abyssal destroyers and light cruisers.

Light Cruiser Demon: What is that thing?

Aircraft Carrier Demon: I don't know, but what I am certain is that strange aircraft is carrying American bombs, because the Japs don't have any 500lb bombs.

Light Cruiser Demon: But the Americans are still fighting for control of Pearl Harbor, how can they go this far into the Pacific? You know what, it doesn't matter.  Order our ships to establish anti-aircraft formation.

A 16-inch shell flies past her face, hitting a Ru-class battleship, breaks through its shield and penetrates squarely in the turret, lighting the warship ablaze. Another shell founders a heavy cruiser while the rest of the salvo damages lighter vessels.

Kantai Fubuki: We're saved! But...how do the others know we were ambushed when our communications were down.

Kantai Mutsuki: No, that's not our fleet. We don't have 16-inch shells.

Further away, Admiral Graf Spee is wreaking havoc on the Wo-class aircraft carriers alongside Yorktown's A-1 Skyraiders. One of the Wo-class tried to fight back with a bomber squadron of its own but Yorktown's Crusaders make quick work of them. About one kilometers west, Fletcher and Allen M. Sumner are actively hunting down So-class submarines, while Yuudachi and Fubuki's Long Lance torpedoes reduced the remaining Abyssal light cruisers into burning husks.

Kantai Fubuki: Who...are these guys?

Kantai Mutsuki: Seems like a ragtag bunch of shipgirls. Othet than that, I know nothing.

Next to them, Kantai Sendai emits a slight groan, and grudgingly gets up.

Kantai Sendai: Where are the Abyssals? I thought they were about to finish us?

Kantai Fubuki: We were saved by a bunch of unknown ships, senpai.

Light Cruiser Demon: Damn this whole operation! I'm leaving!

????: Oh no you don't

To Light Cruiser Demon's dismay, she is surrounded by not one, not two, but three battleships.

Vittorio Veneto: Where do you think you are running?

Light Cruiser Demon: Where the fuck did my battleships go?

Jean Bart: Oh, they been dealt with.

New Jersey: Those grotesque ships of yours are no match to us.

Light Cruiser Demon: You know what, fuck this! I have enough of this. To hell with you shipgirls!.

Light Cruiser Demon then dives deep into the underwaters, hoping to run away from the curb-stomp battle. But, then again, fate sometimes likes to screw with people, the demoness has run straight towards U-1206 and U-96.

U-1206: Going somewhere?

Light Cruiser: Ohhhhh....fuck.

Not letting the demoness to compose herself, U-96 and U-1206 launched six torpedoes. All of them hit Light Cruiser Demon, and the Abyssal girl gradually sinks to the sea bottom.

Things were no better on Aircraft Carrier Demon's side either. All of her carriers were gone,  and the demon herself also sustained severe damage. Her flight decks were obliterated and her guns were blown to smithereens. Decided that the situation is unsalvageable, she turns around trying to run away. However, an arrow skewered her left thigh and right calf.

Enterprise: Bullseye.

The Grey Ghost readies another arrow, this time aiming for the head. Fueled with desperation, Aircraft Carrier Demon, with great effort, pulls out the arrow out of her legs and dives away, narrowly avoided Enterprise's shot by a hair's breadth.

New Jersey: The enemies have been defeated, Commander.

Arthur: Good. I will talk to them. *points to Kantai Fubuki & Mutsuki* All of you, take the unconscious ones back to Japan. It's a good thing that this world has the same geography as ours

Arthur then skates towards Kantai Fubuki and Mutsuki, and gives them a radio.

Arthur: Use this to contact your allies.

Kantai Mutsuki: Who are you, mister?

Arthur: An admiral passing by along with his ragtag bunch of shipgirls.

At Kure Naval Base:

Kantai Ooyodo: Why haven't the returned?

Kantai Mutsu: Could it be that they were...destroyed? What should we do, nee-sama?

Mutsu looks at Nagato, who is trying to think of a course of action for the precarious situation. Then a tramission cut off her thoughts. Ooyodo rushes towards the radio.

Kantai Ooyodo: Incoming tramission! It's Fubuki!

Kantai Fubuki: Fubuki to Kure. The Abyssals have been destroyed. I repeat, the Abyssals have been destroyed.

Kantai Ooyodo: You managed to defeat a vastly superior force?

Kantai Fubuki: Actually, it's not us who defeat them. In fact, our savior is standing next to me.

Kantai Nagato: I want to talk to whoever that person is.

Kantai Fubuki: Sir, our senior wants to talk to you. *hands Arthur the microphone*

Arthur: I would like to know who am I talking to, please.

Kantai Nagato: You are talking to Nagato, the flagship of Kure Naval Headquarters. I deeply thank you for saving my allies from destruction.

Arthur: It's no biggie.

Kantai Nagato: May I know your identity, sir?

Arthur: Call me Arthur Godfrey. Rank: Fleet Admiral

Kantai Mutsu: Are my ears deceiving me?

Kantai Nagato: Quiet, Mutsu. Do you want something in return, sir Godfrey?

Arthur: I don't want anything, for now. See you later, at your own base.

Kantai Fubuki: Sir Arthur, may I ask questions about your shipgirls?

Arthur: Sure.

Kantai Fubuki: How come some of your girls have animal features?

Arthur: I will tell you about that on the way back to Kure.

One trip later:

Kantai Nagato: So, you are telling me that his girls are a counterpart of us in another world, and he and his base was teleported here, and he has ships that only exist on paper?

Kantai Fubuki: Yes. That's what he told me on the way back.

Kantai Nagato: This is so surreal. Am I on drugs?

Kantai Ooyodo: I'm afraid you are totally lucid, Nagato-sama.

Yuudachi: You have hideous monsters that are "ships" here, and yet you find us weird?

Kantai Nagato: They stopped being weird 75 years after I got nuked by the Americans, which is 2 months after my revival. Seeing the Abyssals outside all the time eventually makes them normal to people.

Fubuki: That...makes sense, I guess? And what do you mean "got nuked by Americans"?

Kantai Nagato: Japan got nuked twice and surrender. After the war, the Americans didn't find whatever still remains of the Axis's navies useful at all, so they use nukes as a way to dispose what's left of Imperial Japanese Navy along with some of their old ships, and a German heavy cruiser if I remember it right.

Fubuki: It must be really painful.

Kantai Nagato: Unbearably so.

Fubuki: (Thank God that Hitler was assassinated and replaced)

Kantai Fubuki: By the way, how should we tell the rest of our fleet about the newcomers?

Arthur: No need. I have told them all. With your Mutsu.

Enterprise: Sorry for chiming in, but how come does this base has a 1940s style when chronogically, your world is at 2023?

Kantai Nagato: All of the top brass has a liking of old style building. And you are.....

Enterprise: Midway-class aircraft carrier, formerly Yorktown-class, Enterprise. Nice to meet you, Nagato-san.

Kantai Nagato: It's an honor to meet the Grey Ghost herself, even though you are from another world.

Somewhere within earshot, Akagi and Kaga is having a panic attack (Midway flashbacks).

Kantai Zuikaku: What happened to them?

Kantai Shoukaku: Panic attack caused by horrible flashbacks of a fiery death.

Back to the dock yard:

Arthur: Can we meet your admiral, Nagato?

Nagato: I will take you to him.

Admiral: There's no need. I'm already here.

The base admiral takes a glance at Arthur and his expeditionary fleet, before continue speaking.

Admiral: You must be the man who saved my torpedo squadron.

Arthur: Indeed I am. Nice to meet you.

Admiral: Nice to meet you. (He looks younger than me, and is already a fleet admiral...)

After the greetings, they shake hands with each other. The Admiral then leads Arthur to his office for some tea.

Admiral: Would you like some tea?

Arthur: Sure, why not? *He takes a sip*

The Admiral takes a sip of his cup of tea then asking:

"I have taken a look at your shipgirls. Some looks nowhere similar to the kanmusu scattered around the world. How did you have them, if I may ask."

Arthur: So the shipgirls of your world are called "kanmusu".....If you tell me how they came to be, then I will answer your question.

Admiral: It all began in 2010, when a handful of dead people coming back to life was reported. Over the next few days, those people initially were somewhat disoriented, then claiming themselves as ships. At first, people dismiss them as being crazy. Then all became silent when one day one of those handful were seen using...

Arthur: Rigging

Admiral: Right. With miniaturized World War 2 equipment, those people turned the tide of war in the oceans, and became what is known as "kanmusu". But questions still remain.

Arthur: I see. Now I will answer your question nonetheless.

Arthur puts a Wisdom Cube on the Admiral's tea table. The Admiral looks at the cube with intrigue and fascination and immediately pays attention to Arthur's incoming explanation.

Arthur: This, is a Wisdom Cube. It's a cube with an ability to summon shipgirls in my world, even those who were not laid down, for all you really need is information and perception of the ships. Double as a power source. Re-summoning sunken girls is almost impossible however, as it need the original cubes and a person with insanely high affinity with the cubes. Loss of the cube means cessation of existence.

Admiral: I'm curious about the "affinity" part. Can you tell me more about it?

Arthur: Well, the commander's affinity with the cubes is directly proportional to a shipgirl, or KAN-SEN's combat effectiveness, construction time, and repair time. A person with enough affinity to re-summon sunken girls, however, is incredibly rare, about one in ten million at best. And if you lose the cube, the KAN-SEN cease to exist. Even though the original ship's information remains, the summoned shipgirl will be different.

Arthur: And how come do I not see any American ships around Sea of Japan?

Admiral: They were driven off way back to the West Coast until the existence of kanmusu. Long-range communication indicated that they have retaken Pearl Harbor. In fact, we lost control of 60 percent of the waters when kanmusu has not come into play. In mere months, they turned missile ships from a common asset to relics. As for other navies, I've got no clues.

Arthur: Holy shit.

Admiral: By the way, what are you going to do next? Considering you are from another world, you have the right to not involve further into our problems?

Arthur: Nah. Staying neutral is out of the question. I have attacked the Abyssals twice, there's no way they are gonna leave me alone. Until the day I return home, they aren't gonna kill me.

Admiral: So you are going to join forces with us?

Arthur: Definitely. Now, if you pardon me, I will go around and familiarize myself with your girls.

Kantai Ooyodo: Let me guide you.

Arthur: *look at the Admiral* Also, you are quite a macho.
