C.38 "And as cliché as it sounds, follow my lead."

~

Tenya thinks about you most of the time.

Sure, he also has common thoughts of his studies, his family and heroics; but of course you were there too.

Tenya did his best to make time for you, especially during the weekends. When he had extra free time he'd pondered about what you were doing; and what you'd both could do during the weekends.

When Tenya had the chance to be with you, he would search endlessly to find you.

As of now, he was looking around of the decorated Gym Gamma, searching for his girlfriend.

You snickered at your friends conversation.

You and your tiny group were at the table full of food and beverages. Aoki (your friend)'s arm proudly draped around his loving girlfriend; as your other friend and you talked with the couple.

It didn't take long for Tenya to recognise a familiar laughter. The ends of his mouth slightly lifting up, he carefully followed the sound as he finally found you.

"C'mon bro, there's no girl your class that you're crushing on?"
Aoki, your theatre friend, asked.
"Surely there's gotta be som——oh hey hero course student!"

Umeda's eyes widened as she saw Tenya walking towards them; your other theatre friend timidly backed away to the table behind him. Both of them not wanting to make eye contact with Tenya.

"Oh hey, Tenya!"
You waved.

"Hello ____, am I interrupting something?"
Tenya asked politely.

"NOPE, nothing at all! Actually _____ here was just about to leave us the hell alone! Weren't you _____?"
Umeda nervously smiled, eyeing you.

"Geez if you wanted me to
leave so badly you could've said so earlier."
You frowned jokingly.

"Yeah, I was about to leave."
You said, locking eyes with Tenya.
"You weren't interrupting anything. Excuse me as I ditch my friends."

You turned to your friends and waved at them while playfully singing:
"Bye~, enjoy the rest of your night without me!"

"Bye! Have fun!"
Umeda anxiously waved back, though she did meant her words.

Aoki and your other friend is waved you goodbye as well. You then locked arms with Tenya as you both strolled away.

"Are you sure I wasn't I interrupting you? You know you could've told me, I'd be fine if you wanted to continue your conversation with your friends!"
Tenya concernedly asked.

"Yeah it's fine, thanks for being considerate though.
They were afraid of you. Except Aoki, for some reason. He sounded really unfazed."
You questioned, raising a brow to yourself while pushing your glasses up.

"Perhaps he's not afraid of me!"

"I guess."
You shrugged.
"Where're we going?"

"Is there anything here that
you would like to do?"

You leaned against Tenya's broad shoulder.

"Anything but moving, I'm kinda exhausted from."
You grinned.

You and Tenya then settled on sitting down and quietly chatting together. It was enjoyable for both of you as your energies replenished slowly (especially yours).

"I would have rather Bakugo not blow up the ground!
It made it terribly difficult to run over to Midoriya. Although, Todoroki was able to help create a bridge of ice to allow me to run across to Midoriya!
Bakugo then came screaming into me as I ran, fortunately I was able to dodge him swiftly!"

"Did you get to Midoriya?"

"Yes! It was a success! Our team ended up winning."
Tenya proudly grinned.

"That's great! But that sounded so intense."
You sighed, leaning back into your chair.

Completely invested in one of Tenya's many hero training stories.

"Sincerely me~!"
One of your friends sang loudly.

The song ended as the crowd applauded.

You and Tenya both turned your heads to the stage, two guys were panting and sweating. Huge smiles plastered onto their faces as they bowed and jumped off stage.

"Your friends are fantastic singers!"
Tenya remarked, turning back to your direction.
"They are your friends, am I not wrong?"

"Oh they are. I still can't believe they haven't passed out yet!"
You exclaimed, chuckling in the process.

"They seem to have outstanding stamina!"

You nodded with an agreeing hum.

"Thank you Ishii and Kondo for singing our final song for us!"
Midnight announced after grabbing the microphone.
"Alright, next we have a slow dance! Here something for you lovers in the crowd. Miles Apart by Nick Wilson!"

That caught you and Tenya's attention.

'Slow dancing huh?'
You thought to yourself.

The bright lights were switched off,
one of the party lights shone a light pink and dark red beam of light into the dance floor.

The disco also started swirling in a circle again, the dance floor flawlessly glittering; and the floor lit up.

A shining, beautiful, white, neon light was beaming from the floor.

The room had formed an amazing combination
of darkness and luminous neon lights.

Then, a song started playing.

It was those songs where the singer would sing slowly and sweetly; incredibly old fashioned, slow dance song ever.

[There should be a GIF or video here. Update the app now to see it.]

A/N: this is the song I intend for u and Tenya to slow dance to, altho u are the reader so the song can be whatever u want 🤷🏻‍♀️

The mood was set.

A few couples then slowly gathered to the dance floor.

"...Yo, Tenya."
You asked.

"Yes ____?"
He glanced at you.

"Do you wanna da—actually no. Wait,"
You placed your index finger in front of Tenya's face as a 'stop' gesture.

"You gotta do these things right."
You mumbled to yourself, crinkling your nose
(which Tenya found adorable) as you got up from your seat.

You then gestured Tenya to get up.
Once he did, you stood a feet away from your masculine yet intelligent boyfriend.

You bowed and placed your hand out.

"Tenya, may I have the pleasure of this dance?"

Your heart raced.
Tenya's eyes widened.

"____, I should be the one asking you that question. Traditionally."
Tenya slightly grinned.

"I guess I beat you to it."
You shrugged, still leaving your hand out.

Tenya then walked over to you and took your hand.

"Indeed you did. But I promise you, the next time there is a chance where we could both do couple-like activities; I will be the one to ask you the question first!"
Tenya forewarned you with a cheeky smile.

"Fine by me, I like my men firm."
You grinned back as you intertwined your and Tenya's hands.
"Let's go~."

You and Tenya walked to the dance floor together. Once you both got there, you placed your hands on his shoulders.

Tenya carefully placed his on your waist, you noticed his hesitance.

"Tenya, I take it that this is your first time you've dancing with a girl?"
You whispered to him, slightly
moving your body side to side.

"Yes."
Tenya whispered back.

"So you don't know how to slow dance?"

"Well, obviously not."
He looked away, embarrassed.

"Right. Okay, uhh, try to loosen up first. Like...like swing to the rhythm and stuff. And try to not be so uptight, just relax."

Tenya nodded and took a deep breath, after that, you saw him relaxing his shoulders and he stopped clenching his jaw. You smiled at Tenya's small progress.

"And as cliché as it sounds, follow my lead."

"May I ask how?"

"Follow my steps."
You gestured to your feet as they took baby steps around the dance floor.

Tenya did as you said, looking down at your flats and rhythmically followed your tiny footsteps.

"Hey, is that Iida over there?"
Uraraka asked Midoriya.

"Where?"

"On the dance floor!"

"...OH! That is Iida! Wow,
I didn't know he could dance!"
Midoriya grinned.

"No, I don't think he does."
Shoji shook his head.

"His girlfriend's clearly teaching him. See,"
He pointed his index finger at you both.
"They're both looking at each other's feet."

"Aww, that's so cute!"
Mina beamed.

"How charming, they're such a wonderful couple."
Yaoyorozu smiled, placing her hand on her chest in approval.

"I agree, ribbit, they're a really good match for each other."
Tsuyu agreed, nodding next to Yaoyorozu.

"Hey! You can even see Hagakure and Orijo!"
Sato pointed out, literally too.

"Oh yeah! Check it out! Orijo is as red as a tomato."
Kaminari chuckled.

"You can even see
Hagakure's blushing face. Ribbit."
Tsuyu croaked.

"Is it me or am I the only one here feelin' lonely..."
Kirishima sadly smiled, a tear about to fall from his eye.

"Same bro."
Kaminari lazily slumped onto Kirshima's shoulder.

"Me too bro."
Sero said, leaning onto Kirishima's back.

"Yeah, bros."
Kirishima empathetically replied to his buddies, patting their backs with his two manly arms.

You leaned your cheek onto Tenya's chest,
resting your face on it, exhaled and closed your eyes.

Tenya could hear his heartbeat through his ears.

A comfortable silence between you and Tenya had immersed into the music. Tenya was finally able to slow dance freely; he'd take bigger steps whenever he'd step sideways. Tenya had successfully taken the lead.

As the song came to a near end,
Tenya broke the silence with a whisper.

"____?"

"Hm?"

"Do you know how much I love you?"

"As much as you love heroes?"
You muttered.

That caught Tenya off guard.
"Not the response I had in mind, but no.
I love you more than you could imagine!"

"And I love you much, much more than you love me."
You agreed, closing your eyes as you still rested on Tenya's chest.

"Is that so?"
Tenya grinned.

"Yup,"
You nodded.

The subject of Tenya loving you more than heroes had really perked the gut-wrenching question up in you; and you couldn't help but feel salty about it even if you didn't want to know the answer.

But you weren't gonna let some silly thoughts ruin your night with Tenya, were you?

The song ended; you pulled your face away from Tenya and smiled casually at him.

"You're getting pretty great at slow dancing.
And I don't think it's beginner's lucks!"
You complimented Tenya.

"It's all thanks to you!"
Tenya shyly beamed back.

Right after the song ended;
'Shut Up And Dance With Me' started to play.

You and Tenya stared at each other; Tenya glancing at you with a 'do-you-still-want to-continue-I-don't-have-a-preference' look.

A small grin had grown onto your face as you said,
"One more dance wouldn't hurt, right?"

You lightly bounced up and down as you took both of Tenya's hands into yours. You couldn't use all your energy since half of it was drained; and you were still experiencing the fragile aftermath of puking.

You hopped small, premature jumps.

"M-Most of my dance moves would probably bring you humiliation."
Tenya shyly retorted, nervously becoming stiff and panicky.

"There's nothing you could do to shame me."
You earnestly said, your expression turning serious as you knitted your eyebrows together.

Although Tenya felt slightly more confident by what you said, his feet were still stuck on to the ground. He was still scared to embarrass you by dancing with him.

There was always the possibility Tenya could, right?

You shook your hips side to side more widely as Tenya remained frozen, you noticed his refusal in moving at all with an awkward stare.

You decided on the spot on what to do; how to help Tenya move around without a care in the world.

You then told him,
"Alright, how about you try to loosen up and follow what I say. We'll dance together, sound good?"

"I...I guess so."
Tenya responded unsurely.

Tenya took your advice, trying to relax.

Once he did, he started moving his feet along with you; you sang along to the song.

"—helpless to the bass and the fading light,
Oh we were bound to get together~!
Bound to get together~!"

The end of Tenya's lips slightly turned upwards at your singing as you both stared into each other's eyes. His cheeks glowing pink.

God, he loved you so much.

"She took my arm,
I don't know what happened,
We took the floor and she said~.

Oh don't you dare look back,
Keep your eyes on me~!
I said your holding back,
She said shut up and dance with me!"

Tenya then began to go with the easygoing flow.

Enjoyably moving his feet on his own with the rhythm. His eyes never escaping your's as your hands never left his.

At one point, Tenya even had the capacity to twirl you in a circle which made your heart flutter. He started moving his body freely like your's. Not to add, just as you sang; he didn't hold back and he kept his eyes on you.

You felt your heart beat faster and faster every second, you felt like you were melting with Tenya's touch.

Tenya on the other hand, was falling deeper in love with you. He would have never had the strength or confidence to dance as carefree as how he felt now without you.

How he felt as if he could do anything!

Tenya had never felt what it was like to unwind carelessly; let loose and just let the night consume you. As exaggerated as it sounds, it was exactly how Tenya felt.

And although there were people surrounding the both of you; in both of your and Tenya's point of view, you two were the only ones dancing around.

When the song came to a near end, Tenya subconsciously let go of your hands and held you by the waist. Lifted you up in the air and spun you around.

It caught you completely off guard.

The song ended and Tenya placed you back onto the ground, hands not leaving your waist.

And what was roughly three minutes,
felt like forever.

As silence filled the air since the song was playing anymore; you and Tenya stare speechlessly at each other.

You stared into his gorgeous red eyes and his charming smile, the same ones you fell in love with before.

After a few seconds of hesitance and wanting; you kissed Tenya, entirely tranced with what he did and how romantic and handsome you found him.

Tenya kissed you back as well (clearly);
as he, too, was into the moment; immensely drawn to you.

Your hands ruffled the hair at the back of Tenya's head; your eyes closed as you lovingly kissed him.

One of Tenya's hand remained on your
waist as he slowly leaned you backwards, the other hand supporting your back.

You both kept on going for a solid half a minute.

"Hey! Keep the PDA to a minimum!"
Mr Aizawa yelled from behind, stopping the romantic interactions from continuing any further.

You both immediately backed away,
obeying the strict teacher's orders.

Tenya's kept his arms behind him,
trying to contain himself from holding your hand, hugging you, cuddling you, letting his lips meet your's again.

You on the other hand, was so dreamily dazed by your boyfriend. Helpless to his touch, fazed by his starry eyes.

———

At around ten, you and Tenya decided to head home together. Tenya's parents gave him a curfew of ten-thirty.

On the train, Tenya told you he'd walk you home (since the train would stop at your station first); although you disagreed. Saying that he could return home past his curfew if he walked you home.

"Okay okay okay, how 'bout once it's my station, I'll get off and call you. So if anything were to happen, even though I doubt it, you'd be there to hear if I needed help."

"____, that's a risky plan!"

"But isn't it rational?
Plus, I have pepper spray in my pocket!"

"Well, I wouldn't say that it's rational, but it is well thought out enough to allow you to walk home alone and not get killed or kidnapped without any evidence!"

"Tenya, my love, you're too into this."
You shook your head, sighing.

"____ my bellflower, I'm a young hero in training! I must always be cautious about the dangers that lurk in the future! Although I am still going with you,"
Tenya alerted you.

"There's no way you're
not coming with me isn't there?"
You sighed.

"Yes. That is correct!"

"...Okay. I trust you know what you're doing."
You nodded in defeat.

On the train, you and Tenya stood side by side.
Holding onto the train handles as the seats were packed.

"____?"

"What's up?"
You glanced at your boyfriend.

"There's something I've got to tell you!"

"And that is?"

"Well, you mean a lot to me. Sometimes I'm unsure of whether I show it or not, but even if I don't; I still do! I'm willing to trade any of my upmost, worthy possessions for you! And in all honesty, I don't know what I'd do or who'd probably be...anyway,"
Tenya shyly chuckled.

You smiled at him as the train slowed down to stop; you heard the doors slide open.

"____, my precious bellflower, I--"

"Iida?"
Someone interrupted you.

Tenya then turned his head to a the sliding doors.
"Nakashi—Naka?"
