Chapter 4: Thoughts

After he woke up, Jimin went downstairs to the living room, sitting on one of the couches.

The party ended at midnight, and everyone had a blast. When the crowd left, Jimin and Namjoon did the task of cleaning up the living room.

As Jimin scrolled on his phone, he recalled the conversation he had with his cousin while cleaning.

"I saw you in the dining room," Namjoon said, smirking. "Yeah, what about it?" Jimin asked.

"You were talking to a girl."

"I talk to a lot of girls."

"No, I meant the way you were talking to her. You seem more open and relaxed. And she looked like she was enjoying your company." Namjoon stopped sweeping and leaned on the broom. "What's her name."

Jimin smiled. "Lee Haeyoon."

Namjoon continued to sweep. "That's a pretty name. So when are you going to ask her out?"

Jimin rolled his eyes. "Let's just finish cleaning; my dad will be home in a few hours."

Suddenly, Jimin heard the door open. He went to the door and saw his dad, Park Keeho. "Hello, Father," he said.

Keeho yawned and placed his suitcase next to a small table. "Hello, Son. How are you doing?"

"I'm doing fine. How was your trip?"

"It was tiring." Keeho loosened up his tie and started to walk up the stairs. "I'm going to take a nap; have the maids prepare lunch for you." "Yes, sir."

"And please don't disturb me for the rest of the day; I'm going to be working in my office."

"Yes, sir."

"Do you have any questions?"

"No, sir."

"Great. See you tomorrow." Keeho got to the top of the stairs and walked towards his bedroom. Jimin sighed, plopping back down onto the couch.

Ever since his mother died, Keeho has been spending a lot of time away from his son. It was to the point where Jimin would only see him once a week. That's why Namjoon comes over every week.

Jimin turned on the TV and found a show about cooking in the woods. He went on his phone and scrolled through Instagram. After a while, he started to get tired.

"I might as well take a nap too."

Jisoo sat at the small table in the apartment, smoking a cigarette. Ever since she got off from work last night, thoughts were flowing through her head.

Am I a bad mother?

Am I a bad influence?

Am I insane?

Jisoo shook her head and placed her cigarette in the tray. "Why am I feeling like this?" she wondered. Her eyes wandered around the room until she stopped at a specific picture.

Hanging up by the door, there was a picture over 15 years ago. It was Jisoo, 3-year-old Haeyoon, and Haeyoon's father, Lee Sunghwan. Jisoo's eyes filled with tears as she remembered the love of her life.

Sunghwan was a quiet man who kept to himself. He wasn't much of a talker, but everyone still liked him. Sunghwan and Jisoo met in college. People could never imagine that a quiet boy and a party girl would end up getting married.

They were a perfect family: decent jobs, a decent house, and a daughter. Everything was going fine until 12 years into the marriage.

Jisoo and Sunghwan had got into multiple arguments over the last few months. On Haeyoon's tenth birthday, Sunghwan had enough. He packed his bags and left, never seen again.

Everything in Jisoo's life came crashing down after that. She lost her job, lost her home, and she started smoking. That's why she and Haeyoon live in the tiny apartment. But there was one thought that was stuck in Jisoo's head after Sunghwan left:

Why were there no divorce papers signed?

No legal divorce means that the two were still legally married.

It was almost time for work, so Jisoo got dressed in her uniform. She was about to get the keys when she started coughing. The cough made her chest hurt, and it continued for ten seconds.

"Momma, are you okay?" Haeyoon ran into the kitchen, concerned for her mother. Jisoo smiled. "I'm okay, Haeyoonie. Thanks for checking on me." She coughed again.

"Momma, if you need to stay home-"

"No, I'm not staying home, Haeyoonie. We need this money." On that note, Jisoo opened the door. "See you later, Haeyoonie."

"See you later."

Jisoo felt worse as the shift went on. The coughs were more painful, and she started to get tired.

Her manager, Jimin, took notice of this. "Jisoo, are you alright?" Jisoo nodded. "Yes, I'm alright, Mister Manager. I think it's just allergies."

"Olay." Jimin nodded, walking towards the back of the store. He was refilling up the ice cream freezer when he heard a loud thump. Jimin ran towards the sound and suddenly gasped at the sight he saw.

There was Lee Jisoo, lying in front of the cash register, barely breathing.

Haeyoon was sitting on the couch watching TV when she heard a knock on the door. She walked to the door and opened it. Haeyoon scowled. "What are you doing here, and how do you know where I live, Park Jimin?"

Jimin smirked. "Ah, so you do remember who I am, Haeyoonie."

"Don't call me that. What do you need?"

Jimin sighed and grabbed Haeyoon's hands. She tried to release them from his grip, but he was too strong.

"Don't freak out, okay?" Jimin said with a serious tone. Haeyoon slowly nodded. "Go on."

"I'm the manager of South Market Convenience Store, where your mom works at. She's in the hospital right now because she fainted during her shift." Jimin looked at Haeyoon. She had tears coming down from her eyes. Jimin released Haeyoon's hands. Haeyoon quickly wiped the tears and mumbled, "Which hospital?"

"Choi Park Area Hospital. I can bring you there if you want me to." Jimin touched Haeyoon's cheek, but she slapped it away.

"Jimin, just take me to the damn hospital," Haeyoon said in a strict tone. Jimin nodded and waited for Haeyoon as she slipped on her sneakers and a brown sweater.

Then the two got into Jimin's red Mercedes and drove to the hospital.

Sorry I haven't posted in a while, I had writers block and didn't know what to write. I was also busy. And I know Keeho is probably not Jimin dad's name and Jimin doesn't have a red Mercedes (right?). I just made this stuff up. Thanks for reading, and don't forget to vote!
