Chapter 31

It's been a few days since you've been in this home.
Overall, nothing much happened, at least nothing bad did. You were able to take a break from all the batshit crazy stuff that was happening, of course it wouldn't be an eternal break, but the rest was longer than you expected.

Aside from that, you also hung out with a few of the South American countries, Aiden also visited almost everyday just to check up on you.
It was nice to have people who care about you. Oh yeah, Comoros would also spam text you, asking if you were alright every single hour. If you didn't respond in 2 minutes, he'd freak out. You mostly spent time with Chile and Bolivia, the others to say, were rather introverted. You'd also hang out with Venezuela from time to time, but rarely.

"So, how's everything going over there?" The Slovakian's voice came from your phone.
You were on a video call with Slovakia and Poland, with the addition of Norway. Aiden and Chile were sitting next to you on both sides.
"Everything's been fine," You answered with a smile. Slovakia smiled too, "That's great! Also, who's that sitting beside you? The human, not Paraguay-" "It's not Paraguay, it's Chile." Chile interrupted her.
"Oh right, you and Paraguay swapped consciousnesses..." She trailed off, "Still, who's the human?"

Aiden chuckled, "My name is Aiden, nice to meet you, Slovakia!" Poland cleared his throat, "What about us?" Slovakia slowly turned to face the Polish, and punched his shoulder. Poland winced in pain a little, and kept quiet.
"It's... nice to meet you too, Poland and Norway." Aiden said.
A little bit of casual chit-chat here and there, it wasn't that important, but still, it was fun to get to speak with Slovakia and Norway. Don't know about Poland, though, he was still an asshole.

Time passed by extremely quickly, and you've been talking with them for almost an entire hour. Aiden by this time, had already left the home because he needed to head back to his own, which was unfortunate but then again, as he said, "I don't want to worry my parents."
Imagine still having parents, well, most of the Countryhumans can definitely relate.
After saying goodbye to the three, you ended the video call.

"To be honest, I haven't seen any of them in a long time now, ever since a handful of countries started going crazy for you, UN called off all meetings except for EU, ASEAN and AU meetings." Chile stated, "To say the least, I'm happy to not need to go to any meetings, but there's still tons of paperwork."
You rolled your eyes at him, "I'm not a complaint box." "Well you are to me." He laughed.
"So to you I'm a friend and a complaint box?" "I wouldn't say just a friend, you're a close friend." He told you with a huge smile, a kind of smile that made you want to slap it off of his face.

"What about other countries? Are any of them your close friends?" You asked him and he shrugged, "To many countries, including me, other countries are mainly business partners, even if we do live together, we're just roommates."
"So none of them are close friends to you?" He shook his head, "If I had to choose one of them to be seen as my close friend, I guess Argentina. We aren't always on good terms, but she's really cool." You questioned him if it was just her and he said yes, which you did not expect.

"Let me ask you something," You said and he told you to go ahead, "If I was a Countryhuman, would you still see me as a close friend?" He nodded as an answer.

He yawned softly, covering his face as he did so, "I'm going to grab a glass of water, do you want one too?" He then got up from his seat.
"If I wanted one, I can go grab it myself, you don't need to do it for me." You said to him and he giggled happily, "Aww~ You're too nice Snake-Head, if you say so, go grab your own glass of water, you need to stay hydrated."
"I can grab one later-" "Now, Snake-Head, now. The last time you even drank any sort of liquid was an hour ago." He ordered.

You reluctantly got up from your own seat, "Alright, fine." He gave you a quick smile.
The both of you headed over to the kitchen, you grabbed your favorite drink, which was actually also Ecuador's favorite.
Chile got himself a glass of water, "Would you like any snacks?" "What snacks are there?" You asked and he ran his fingers through his hair, "Uh, a lot of snacks."

The Chilean walked over to a cupboard that was right in front of you and opened it, a bunch of different kinds of snacks fell out of it. Your jaw dropped, "Why is there so much?" "That's not even a quarter of it."
He then opened the cupboard right next to it, and more snacks fell out. Then another one, more came out. In total there were 5 cupboards filled entirely with all kinds of snacks, some brands you've never even heard of before.

"As an explanation, Uruguay has the power to summon whatever he wants, but only food, which is a weird power indeed. Oh right, he craves snacks all the time, and when he thinks he's hungry for some, it appears out of nowhere." Chile explained to you.
"Oh," You murmured, "Okay."
"So like, want any snacks?" He asked you, gesturing to the many snacks on the floor. You shook your head, "Even if I wanted any, it'd be too hard to choose which one." "OMG, same!" He exclaimed, snapping his fingers.

.
..
...

Your eyes widened as blood splattered onto you.
There was a knife poking out of Chile's chest. Chile looked down slowly at the wound, and started to cough up blood. He fell onto his knees as more blood seeped from the wound. The knife was still in his chest.

You stared at the man standing right before you, the one who had stabbed the Chilean in his back. He readjusted his gloves, staring right back at you with such an intense gaze it was terrifying.
"I would've talked to you more if it wasn't for this asshole," Said Venezuela, eyes on Chile, who was as pale as a sheet. He was losing too much blood, if this went on for any longer without his getting medical attention, he could possibly die.

Venezuela kicked Chile over to the side. Out of fear, you grabbed a nearby kitchen knife that was just at arm's reach. You pointed the knife at the Venezuelan and yelled, "Don't you dare come any closer or I'll stab you!"
Yelling wouldn't be able to alert anyone. The other countries living in this house had left earlier to go somewhere, so it was only you, Chile and Venezuela in this house. If only Aiden hadn't left early.
He just laughed like a madman that he was. You've always felt like Venezuela was acting oddly these past few days, little did you know he was also a crazy one.

"Oh, I'm so scared~!" He spoke sarcastically, walking towards you. Your grip on the kitchen knife tightened. Venezuela took out a pocket knife, pointing it at your face. He was about to attack you when Chile got in his way, the knife slashing across his left eye.
Chile fell back onto the floor, holding onto his chest, the knife still stuck in there.

Venezuela deemed Chile too weak to continue protecting you and his eyes went back to focus on you. You raised the knife in your hands, about to attack, but Venezuela suddenly fell onto the floor. Your brows furrowed, surprised by what just happened.
"Yo."
Startled by the sudden voice, you realized that North Korea and Cambodia were right in front of you. North Korea looked like he had just punched someone... did he just punch Venezuela? Was that why he fell presumably unconscious?

North Korea rotated his wrist, staring down at the passed out Venezuelan. "Go heal Chile, he won't last any longer if you don't do so." The Korean informed you.
"But I don't know-" He cut you off, "Yes, you do. You've healed yourself before, remember what Canada told you?" You bit your lip, kneeling beside Chile.
There was a large slash on his left eye. North Korea and Cambodia were doing their own thing, you weren't sure what, but they sure were too focused on Venezuela's unconscious body to care about you and Chile.

You slowly took the knife out of his back, and he winced in pain.
You told him it was alright and the pain won't last for much longer. "Would that be because... I'm going to die...?" He murmured and you wanted to slap him but stopped yourself from doing so.

"Of course not, dummy!" You whisper-yelled at him and he couldn't help but smirk tiredly.
You put a hand on his chest and started to think to yourself to heal him. To try your best to block out all your worries, your worries of him not being able to make it.
Could Countryhumans even die like this?

You were engulfed in a hug and you opened up your eyes. Chile was hugging you tightly, "Oh, I'm alive, I'm fucking alive!" You hugged him back, glad that he's not dead.
You noticed that there was a scar on his left eye, it had healed, but left a scar. To be fair, it was Paraguay's body so...

"Gosh, you didn't have to punch him so hard, North, this body hurts like shit." Cambodia complained. You and Chile looked at Cambodia, but he wasn't there. And Venezuela was back up.
North Korea realized that both of you were concerned, "Cambodia's power is he's able to possess others' bodies." "Ohh...." Chile trailed off, "Hey uh, Snake-Head, can I hug you for a little bit longer? You never know when a hug could be your last." "Sure, go ahead." You answered and he hugged you even tighter.

"When are you two going to get up from the floor? You both are covered in blood." Cambodia said, crossing his arms. Okay, him being in Venezuela's body really started to make you think about how Chile was in Paraguay's body.
"Chile, you have a huge scar-" "To be fair, why should I care? This is Paraguay's-" North Korea facepalmed and sighed, "Little did you know that when you go back to your own body, the scars you gained on his body will transfer to yours."
"WHAT?!" The Chilean exclaimed, releasing you of his hug, "How does that even work?!"

Cambodia cleared his throat, "I'll be sending Venezuela over to The Organizations, see you at the East Asian home." North Korea nodded and Cambodia was on his way.
North Korea glanced back over to the both of you, "Now, get up from the dirty ass floor, we're heading to where I live."
"In these bloody clothes...?" You questioned and he looked disappointed, "Of course we are, I'm teleporting us there. You can shower there, I've asked the others to prepare CLEAN clothes for you two."

.

You opened your eyes, stunned to see yourself right in front of a large home, it was most likely a mansion. It was that huge.
Even the ASEAN home, which had 11 inhabitants, wasn't this big.

The door swung open.
"Welcome to the East Asian home!" Shouted a certain Japanese. She told you and Chile to come inside, North Korea at this point had teleported himself into the house. The place was dark, so dark you couldn't see anything.
Japan closed the door and the lights all flickered on, which was a pretty cool experience, definitely better than what happened earlier. Not as traumatizing, 10/10.

"Woah... this place looks stunning!" Chile exclaimed in awe, he then turned to face you, "Not as stunning as you, of course." The fact that he was able to be happy (?) even after what happened was... interesting. Was almost dying a normal occurrence for Countryhumans?
Japan giggled softly, "Glad you think so! If I remember correctly, Chile, you've never been here before, have you?" The Chilean nodded as a response.
"Japan, care to explain why these two are here?" Someone else said, it was Mongolia, you could recognize the flag on the woman's face. One thing other than the flag on her face stood out, though, and that was because she had six eyes.

Japan shuffled over to the Mongolian, "Ask North Korea, all he did was tell he'd be bringing them over here, Cambodia will be here too soon."
"I'm already here," Said Cambodia as he walked towards Japan. You noticed that Cambodia's hair color was different, not his entire hair, but one streak of his hair. It was white before, but now it was yellow, the same shade of yellow as Venezuela's hair.

He noticed you staring at his one streak of hair and didn't like it, he scowled at you, "Do you seriously have no manners, pesky human?!" Chile cleared his throat, "This human has a name." "Whatever," Muttered Cambodia, glaring at you. You glared back at him.

"To be fair, Chile, when do you want to go back to your own body?" Cambodia spoke, his gaze on the male. "That's Chile...? Isn't that-" Chile cut Mongolia off, "Exchanged consciousness, thank you."
"So?" Cambodia said and Chile shrugged, "Soon, I guess. Still, how does this scar get over to my body?" He pointed to the scar on his left eye, "Will it also remain on Paraguay's body." Cambodia shook his head. "Now, that's just not fair!" Exclaimed Chile, pouting a little.

Cambodia muttered something under his breath and said, "Go shower, you two are still covered in blood." Oh, oh right, you two still were.
Japan chuckled awkwardly, "Yeah uh, I'll just lead them to the bathrooms! By the way, clean clothes have been provided!"

.

After you showered and were now clean of blood, you put on the clothes that were prepared for you. The clothes were Taiwan's, they fitted nicely.
You then headed back to the living room, where Japan, Mongolia and Cambodia still were. Chile was there too. The clothes he was wearing had symbols of dragons on them, the clothing was most likely China's.

Japan scooted over to you. You glanced over to her and she smiled at you.
"What do you think of our place?" She asked you and you said that it looked really nice, very well decorated indeed.
"Glad you think so!" The Japanese said joyfully, "Would you like some tea? Hong Kong's preparing some in the kitchen."

"I think I'll pass," You told her and she pleaded, "Pleaseeee~ No one else will drink Hong Kong's tea..." "Why not?" You questioned and she slowly turned to face Mongolia, who had a disgusted look on her face.
Oh.
Does the tea Hong Kong make taste awful, like the coffee Suriname made for Chile?
"Please, Y/N, pleaseee~" Begged Japan, who was using the puppy dog eyes tactic. You gulped, "Fine, fine, I will. Does it really taste that bad?" Mongolia hesitantly nodded, adjusting her Loovuuz hat.

"Tea's ready!" You could hear someone shout from one of the nearby rooms, probably the kitchen. Japan jolted up and quickly ran away and hid behind a drawer that was not too far away. Mongolia just backed up and turned around, rushing into a room and closed the door, the sound of it being locked followed.
Gosh, these two were definitely scared of Hong Kong's tea, should you be too?
You and Chile weren't sure what to do. Cambodia was still just standing in the corner of the room, staring at nothing.
"Should we hide too?" Chile whispered to you and you didn't know how to answer.

Hong Kong entered the room and placed a few cups of hot tea on the coffee table. Exactly 6 cups, for you, Chile, Cambodia, Japan, Mongolia and himself.
"Come, take a drink!" Hong Kong said, "You can take any cup you like, all of them are the same."
"I think I'll pass..." Chile trailed off, "I'm not thirsty." "Just have some, it tastes great!" Hong Kong told him, handing him one of the cups.
Again, Cambodia was still standing in the corner of the room, menacingly. And again, Chile declined Hong Kong's offer.

"Really, I don't want any." Chile said to the Hong Konger, who kept on insisting.
You watched as Hong Kong kept on trying to get Chile to take a sip of the tea, in the end, he succeeded.
Chile slowly brought the cup up to his lips, and you could see in the corner of your eye, behind the drawer, Japan was mouthing a 'sorry'.

Chile took a quick sip of the tea, and Hong Kong beamed, "How does it taste? Nice, right?" Chile reluctantly gave him a thumbs up, which made Hong Kong rejoice. He hadn't noticed Chile's reluctance.

Hong Kong then looked over to you. Ah, shit. To be honest, this was much better than other things you've gone through, much better.
For some reason, after drinking the tea, you felt more energized. And it didn't taste as bad as Japan and Mongolia made it seem. When Hong Kong left the room, delighted with himself and his tea, Japan got out of her hiding spot. She bowed down, "Sorry for not helping, I know, the tea tastes awful."
"It... actually doesn't taste that bad, it's pretty nice," You told her and she was dumbfounded.

"That reminds me... Only one other person has said such about Hong Kong's..." She paused for a second, "Awful tea. It was Caelan, Y/N, I think you've met her once at the BeNeLux home, right?"
You answered with a nod.
Caelan, Caelan, Caelan.

Just thinking about her gave you a bad feeling. She was a liar and only you knew it. You knew she wasn't good. You were friends with the countries, and she was too. What if she talked bad about you to them, told made-up things about you to them?
Make them hate you, make your only friends hate you.
Just like a year ago.
She's done it once before, and who's to say she won't do it again?

"Quick question," Cambodia finally said something after being quiet for who knows how long, "What's Hong Kong's power?"
Japan shook her head, "No clue. He doesn't show any signs of a power, maybe he hasn't gotten one yet. After all, no countries have died in recent years or so."
Cambodia hummed in reply and said, "What if his power has something to do with what he makes?" Japan pressed her lips together, thinking, "Well, there are some things that could back that up. The stuff he makes mostly comes out unusual."
"How so?" Chile asked, getting interested.

Japan answered, "He likes to make dolls sometimes, and when he finishes them, I always feel like they have a bad aura... And they move when no one's looking!" "So they're haunted?" Chile said and Japan shrugged, "I guess."

"What about food, like the tea?" The Cambodian questioned and Japan spoke, "The food he cooks always tastes awful! Every country that has tried it said it tasted like shit. No offense to Hong Kong or whatever, though. So far, the only ones that have said what he made doesn't taste bad are Caelan and Y/N."
Japan looked over to you, and so did Cambodia too.
"Why are you two looking at me?" You asked and the two looked back at each other. "The only thing Caelan and Y/N have in common is that they are human. What if the way the food Hong Kong makes tastes changes depending on the species consuming it?" Cambodia suggested.

Someone stepped into the living room, you were half-expecting it to be Mongolia, finally coming out of the room she went into; half-expecting it to be someone else.
Who you didn't expect was Hong Kong. He had a sad look on his face, he heard everything, didn't he?

"Does the food I make really taste that bad...?" He mumbled softly, looking down at the ground.
