Chapter 39: The prophecy

"They are at the entrance of the forest. They will be here in two days." Said Tauriel.

"Finrod!" said Niphredil weakly. It was the day of her anniversary and she was in the worst condition in the past 38 years ago. Finrod sat at the edge of the bed worriedly. "Are you sure that Elanill will stay in Lorien? Did you tell her this is her father's order?" asked Niphredil.

Finrod nodded. "Yes, my dear sister. But for everyone's peace of mind I will send Kyros and Kyline to make sure she will stay in Lorien. Don't be worried." He said and then stood and went after his twins.

Niphredil closed her eyes, any second she would fall into a dark abyss that would last at least for two days. "Legolas!" she whispered. "Yes, my love?" Asked Legolas worriedly. He hated to see her like this and every time he cursed himself for failing to protect her in the battle in front of the black gates.

"I'm sorry for leaving you in such a bad time, but Please, don't do anything stupid." Said Niphredil.

"Don't be worried, lassie. I will make sure he acts properly." Said Gimli, trying to light her up, but Niphredil's breathing quickened and after a second she sighed and then closed her eyes and became unconscious.

"Niphredil!" whispered Legolas sadly and his eyes welled up. he leaned his forehead on hers. She was hot. "She will be fine." Said Gimli and patted Legolas back, but just like all those years, it was like someone blew the dust of sadness on the realm of Greenwood and everyone in all over the forest realized that their queen had fallen to her anniversary sleep. Everyone was in distress. The coming of King Elessar and his family was a bad omen for them. The memory of the prophecy for their beloved princess had been awakened in their minds.

Elanill's heart was beating fast. She felt her mother's fall just an hour ago. Her parents' image didn't leave her mind. Soon she passed from Anduin somewhere near the carrock and entered the green fields of the eastern shore. Because of the great eyesight of the Elves, she could see the line of the trees, but also something else that was moving slowly toward the main gate. An Army. They were almost there. Her heartbeat increased and her hand went for her sword unconsciously.

As Elenta felt her rider's stress she began to gallop faster. Soon Elanill saw the flags. A white tree with seven stars around it. "Gondor?" whispered Elanill. She was surprised by seeing the humans coming toward the forest, but king Elessar was her parents' old friend. She calmed down a bit but still, something troubled her mind about this sudden visit.

Soon she got to the gate, unaware of what was waiting for her.

Thalion was restless. The host of Gondor was reaching the gate and he didn't have any good feelings about it. He loved Lady Elanill a lot, like all of the other Elves and seeing the humans coming to the forest was a bad omen in his thoughts. At least, thanks to Elbereth, Lady Elanill wasn't in Greenwood.

Soon the great army reached the gate. King Elessar and a young man were riding in front. They both were looked glorious but not like Lady Arwen who was riding beside the king. The Elves had not forgotten their Evenstar.

Thalion and his guards stepped forward as the riders halted in front of the gate of Elven road and dismounted. He bowed to the king and Lady Arwen followed by his guards.

"Hail to the King Elessar and Lady Arwen, our Evenstar." Said Thalion in common tongue. "I'm Thalion, the gatekeeper of Greenwood."

"Hail to Thalion, the gatekeeper of Greenwood the great." Said Aragorn. "I wish you forgive us for our unexpected arrival, but I and my queen were so depressed to see our old friends, your king and queen and we hope king Legolas will let us enter his forest, although he has forbidden this to all men."

"My Lord and Lady await you. They knew that you were coming. Please follow me." said Thalion, but as he said this, his sharp ears heard a swift sound of gallops of a horse. He looked ahead and immediately his heart sank, for he saw the gleam of a white horse arriving like wind and her rider whose free hair was glowing like a pure gold under the sunlight. In a blink of an eye, the horse halted in front of the gate and caused Thalion to almost pass out.

***

Elanill saw Thalion in front of the gate. Her heart warmed up at the sight of her good friend. She got to the gate and Elenta halted. Thalion almost ran to her. she dismounted. She was all in white, from her dress to her cloak and hood.

"Elbereth Gilthoniel! My Lady! What are you doing here? You must not be here." Said Thalion with fearful eyes. He was pale. "Your father had ordered you to stay in Lorien. Please go back."

Elanill put her hands on his shoulders. "Thalion! How is my mother? Had anything happened for her? Is she fine?" She asked quickly.

Thalion stared at her frightened eyes and saw a curtain of fear on them. "Some evil will must be at work to make our jewel to be like this. Your mother is fine, my Lady, although she is in her anniversary." Said Thalion and put her hood on her head to cover her face from the humans. He could feel their eyes focused on them.

Elanill sighed in relief and tears breamed in her eyes. "I was so scared. I have seen a dream about my parents." She said.

"An evil nightmare it must have been, but please, my lady, go back to Lorien and stay there. You should ..." Pleaded Thalion, but Elanill cut him off and shook her head.

"I won't go back. There is no way. I should see my father. I should talk to him." said Elanill and went to Elenta. Thalion went after her and wanted to argue but a firm and loud male voice stopped him. "My Lady Elanill." Called the man.

Both Thalion and Elanill turned. He was the young man who was riding with the king. He walked toward them and bowed to Elanill. Thalion didn't like the light in his eyes a bit. He stepped in front of Elanill to hide her.

"No men are allowed to talk to Lady." Said Thalion sternly. "Thalion!" called Elanill softly and Thalion turned to her. "It's alright, my friend." The beautiful light in her eyes compromised Thalion and he stepped away.

"I'm sorry for his behavior. He is only doing as he has been ordered. I'm sorry but I'm in a hurry so I should say farewell." Said Elanill. Something about this man was familiar for her. As she turned to go to Elenta, the man grabbed her hand and turned her toward him. Elanill's eyes widened, but she quickly raised her hand to stop Thalion and other guards who had their bows ready in their hands in an instant. They couldn't bear this behavior from this man toward their beloved princess.

"Please forgive me, my lady. As I'm sure that you had not remembered me, I want to introduce myself, for the last time I was so drowned by your beauty that I forget my manners and didn't introduce myself." Said the man.

"The last time?" asked Elanill and Thalion together.

"Of course you must have forgotten that stranger you saw almost five years ago in the forest, but you were in all of my thoughts since then." Said the man. "My name is Eldarion, son of King Elessar and his heir." He said proudly.

Now, Elanill remembered where she had seen that man. She had forgotten all about him, but he looked different in his tidy and kings-like clad.

"So this is the Elanill Mallorn, the jewel of Elven kingdoms." Said a feminine voice and Elanill saw a man and a woman behind Eldarion for the first time. The woman was so beautiful and Elanill had heard about her a lot.

Elanill pulled her hood away and bowed. Her hair began to glow. "It's a great honor to meet you. I have heard a lot about king Elessar and Lady Arwen." Said Elanill politely. "Please forgive our guards for targeting your son. They haven't any bad intentions. They just not used to such acts toward me." She was nervous. All she wanted was to go and see her parents.

"It's alright. My son should not do that and I apologize for that." Said the king with a smile and Eldarion's face became grim a bit.

"Elanill Mallorn!" called a voice angrily. They all turned to the voice. Elanill saw the surprised and angry face of her cousins, Kyros and Kyline, ride upon gray steeds, but Elanill's eyes got fixed on a man behind them with black hair and most beautiful gray-blue eyes.

"Lenwë!" whispered Elanill and ran to Lenwë who dismounted quickly and engulfed her in his arms. Eldarion hand went for the hilt of his sword. How dare that Ellon hugged his Elanill that way?

"Elanill! What are you doing here?" asked Lenwë worriedly.

"I wish you have a good explanation for disobeying the king." Said Kyros and quickly pulled her hood on her head again. "You must not let her stay here even for a second, Thalion." Said Kyros and Thalion dropped his head sadly.

"It's not his fault." Argued Elanill.

"Come! We should go back to Lorien." Said Kyline and pushed Elanill and Lenwë toward Lenwë's horse, but Elanill resisted.

"There is no way you can force me back. I should see my mother." She said firmly. Determination was dripping from her eyes.

"For now just let's leave here. The king will decide." Said Lenwë and easily hauled Elanill up and helped her to sit upon his horse and he mounted as well and curled his arm around her possessively and securely. He didn't like the way that man was looking at Elanill.

"It's late now. They have seen her." Elanill heard Kyline said to his twin. But she couldn't ask him about it. Lenwë neighed his horse and soon they were riding toward the halls. "I'm sorry." Said Elanill. Lenwë kissed her temple. "It's alright. I'm here now." he said. That words made Elanill calm. She leaned to Lenwë's chest and closed her eyes. She could imagine his father's face when he was seeing her and gulped. She was badly in trouble.

Eldarion clenched his fists. His eyes were fixed on where he had seen Elanill for the last time in the arms of that Elf. She had become more beautiful from the last time. Her beauty was almost unbearable.

"Please forgive us because of the delay, my Lord." Said Thalion to Aragorn who looked surprised because what just happened. "Please follow us. We will guide you to the halls. We will be there in two days."

"Who were those Elves who took Elanill with themselves? They didn't look so satisfied. I wish we weren't the cause of it." asked Arwen sadly.

"They were Kyros and Kyline, sons of Lord Finrod from Lothlorien, and the one with black hair was Lord Lenwë son of Lord Círdan from gray havens. Don't be sad, my Lady. They are things you don't know, and I can't talk about them. Please follow us. The king will explain everything if he sees it necessary." Said Thalion sadly and then went to bring his horse.

"Aragorn, do you think we should go? It seems that they are not so happy to see us." Asked Arwen. Aragorn wasn't sure. He could feel the shadow of sadness and unreliability in the air.

"He said that the King and the Queen are waiting for us." Said Eldarion sternly. "We should not make them wait." He said and mounted his horse. Aragorn and Arwen looked at their son's face. An odd look was in his face that a little frightened them, but they didn't say anything. they mounted their horses and began to follow Thalion into the forest.

The Prophecy was started.
