Stop Loving Each Other

I'm in DANGER!!! At work. I hate myself. I hate it here. I wanna go HOMEEEE!

August 2046

Enzo's POV:

"You're what?" Mom looked at Gabriel. "Mariana, is he joking?"

"No, he is serious."

"You're gonna be a father?" Mama said.

"Ew gross." I shook my head.

"Damn! Junior did the nasty!"

"Maxi." Mom pushed him.

"Never say that again." Mama sighed.

"Do you Mendes kids not know what condoms are?" Lola rubbed her face.

"The genes are too strong to be held back Lola. We all know this." Leila said.

"Mom." Dario groaned.

"Look!" Mariana said. "Yes, he's young. Mapi and I were shocked too. But he's a good kid."

"You guys were all married and still weren't ready for kids." Gabriel said.

"That's true." Leila nodded.

"I'm still not ready." Lola said.

"But I do know that I love her and I'll love this baby. I wasn't raised to turn my back on people I love."

"Just don't die in a car accident like your father."

"Jesus Christ Lola." Mariana sighed.

"What?"

I smiled.

"Are you going to marry her?" Virginia asked.

Gabriel shrugged. "Maybe one day. I loved her before this. But let's just focus on the baby. All that can wait."

"Aw, he is mature." Leila smiled.

"Is this how you'll all react if I get a girl pregnant?" Maxi asked.

"If you get a girl pregnant I'm cutting IT off." Mom crossed her arms. "That goes for all three of you."

"I didn't even say anything." I looked at her.

"You were going to make a smart ass comment, Enzo we know you." Mama said.

"True." I nodded. "True."

October 2046

Dario's POV:

"How's Jamie?" Luna asked.

"She's great." I smiled. "How's Jimena?"

"Amazing in every way."

I held out my beer bottle. "Junior isn't the only one tied down now."

She hit my bottle with her's. "But if you get Jamie pregnant, I will kill you." She took a sip.

"Damn it. I can't even make that same threat." I sighed.

"Lesbian power." She laughed.

"Any update with my dad's case?"

She sighed. "D,"

"Luna, please. I just wanna know what's going on with the man who tried to kill my aunt."

She nodded. "It doesn't look good for him. He had everything planned out, on paper. It's literally being used as evidence against him. Plus, they found video evidence from a gas station. Mapi was in his car."

"What was his whole plan?" I looked at her.

"I should tell everyone else. Mapi deserves to know."

"Mariana doesn't." I said. "Mariana's been through enough. She doesn't need to hear how someone tried to kill the love of her life." I looked at my phone. "I gotta go. I'm picking up Jamie and heading to my mom's." I walked away.

"She's gonna find out eventually." Luna said.

Jordana's POV:

"Hey, mom?" She looked up from her drawing.

"Yes?" She smiled.

"Can I ask you a question?"

"Always." She put her pencil down and looked at me. "What's going on?"

"Why don't we live in Portugal?"

She nodded. "I don't know." She said. "We've talked about moving there but we never did."

"Why not?"

"You guys were all settled here. It seemed unfair to move you guys to a different country so young." She shrugged.

"Wasn't it more unfair to mama?" I looked at her. "Staying in your home country but keeping her away from hers?"

"Where is this coming from, Jordana?"

"I just want to know why were never spent more time in Portugal." I shrugged. "That's all. It's where mama is from. I am Portuguese, mom."

"You're Spanish too."

I shook my head. "I don't have any of your DNA. You technically aren't really my mother."

"DNA or no DNA, I am your mother and you are my daughter." She stood up. "Technically none of that matters. Do you think Dario says that to Leila and Mariona? That technically he isn't their son. None of that matters, Jordana. Virginia became your mother's sister over the years. They don't share DNA. A family isn't just blood. Sometimes a family is a group of football players who forgot to grow up and never got sick of each other."

"What's going on?" Mama walked in.

"I heard mama on the phone with Nat saying she wished she spent more time in Portugal." I said.

Mom looked at Mama. "Mari?"

"Jordana go to your room."

I walked out and stayed near the door. "What is she talking about?"

"We were talking about my father I said I wish I had gone to Portugal more to be with him."

"You never said that to me."

"Because every time I brought up spending a summer in Portugal it was always an issue."

"It was never an issue."

"Mapi." Mama said softly. When she speaks softly, you know it's serious. "I brought up going back so many times. But it was always something. Leila wants to do this. I think we should go here. What about this. We'll see them at Christmas. We never went. We always did what you wanted. Mapi I love you. You are the love of my life. I do not want to argue."

"It sounds like you do."

"Why do you take everything as a fucking challenge."

"Why do you take everything as an attack?"

"I'm done." I heard mama walking and ran to my room.

A few minutes later, my door opened. "I know you were listening." Mama walked in and sat on my bed. "Why did you bring that up?"

"A kid in my class said his parents are getting divorced. That they just stopped loving each other." I looked down. "Then I heard you talking to Nat and," I shook my head. "I don't want you guys to stop loving each other."

"Jordana. Your mother has done a lot. Things that most people would agree doesn't deserve another chance. But," She sighed. "I love her and her stupid ways. I love her so much. Nothing on this planet would ever make me stop loving her."

"I heard you guys fighting."

"Trust me when I say we've fought." Mom walked in. "And that, my sweet child, that was not a fight. When your mother and I fight, she does a lot more yelling. And I normally sit and keep my mouth shut because I am an idiot."

"So you guys still love each other?" Mama looked at mom.

"I mean she's still cute, I guess." Mama smirked.

"Ha. Ha." Mom rolled her eyes. "Yes, Jordana we still love her. And now this is going to ruin a surprise." She sighed. "I booked a trip to Portugal in a few weeks. Us and the kids. Your mom knows and is very excited. I'm sorry we didn't go more often when your father was alive. You've always done things to make me happy, like living in Spain all these years. Say the word and we can move to Portugal."

"Not yet. I'm not done with Spain yet." Mama smiled. "But you," She turned to me. "Don't assume shit cause of a kid in class. And stop listening to conversations you shouldn't."

"Yes ma'am."

"Haha busted." Mom laughed.

"And you!"

"Here it comes." She mumbled.

"Stop doing stupid shit that makes normal people end relationships. I'm too old for this now."

"Old? You are old."

"Mapi look at me. I'm getting old."

"No. I think you're just as beautiful as the day I saw you on that field in Portugal. Maybe even more beautiful. My wife. Aging like fine wine. Getting better everyday."

"Ok gross if you do are gonna do all of that please get out of my room." I covered my eyes. "Disgusting."

"Just wait till you meet that special person one day, Jordana."

"Gross." I sighed.

"No. No dating till you're 50. Or I'm dead."

"Aren't you like 80, mom?" I smirked.

"You little motherfu-"

"Ok bye!" Mama dragged her out.

"This isn't over you little shit!" Mom yelled.

"Yeah it is!"
