"How Much Did James Tell You?"

Sirius hadn't spoken to anyone since the radio announcement, not even to James, who Remus was sure that he would open up to. It was strange not having Sirius' voice in the conversations they had in the evening and Remus could see Grant casting worried glances over at Sirius.

Eventually deciding that he needed some fresh air, Remus got to his feet and walked past Peter's corner bed and out of the tent. James was still discussing with Peter how they would be able to communicate with Dumbledore throughout the beginning of what was the upcoming war. Grant however, followed Remus out of the tent.

The blonde felt the light night breeze brush his face and he spotted Remus sat with hs knees at his chest, deep in thought.

"He'll be okay you know" Grant stated, sitting beside Remus on the twigs, grass and pebbles. Remus didn't look up and kept his eyes on the ground.

"Grant...look you're amazing but...with this...don't pretend you know anything about it" Remus said distantly. This didn't hurt Grant's feelings but he flinched slightly, shocked at the words.

"Really?" he asked, a hint of challenge in his voice. "I know you're a wizard, I know that you can apparate, your friends have a map that shows everyone and everything at Hogwarts, we're running from an evil wizard who wants to recruit you and we're keeping you hidden from Greyback. Speaking of which, the moon is in a few days so James said he found a safe place for you four to go whilst I stay here"

"Really, where did...." Remus stopped dead, actually realising the words that Grant had just said "How much did James tell you?"

"He told me enough" Grant said gently and Remus suddenly felt himself shaking.

"No no no no, you can't....you can't know...this isn't..."

"You expected me to come along without knowing what you were Remus?" He asked.

"I didn't want you to come at all!" Remus said raising his voice this time "I didn't want anyone to come with me. I should just be alone it's all I deserve..."

"Hey, you're insulting the boy I care about stop it" Grant said, his tone turning sharper but still kind "Remus I'd go to hell and back for you, and what James told me, doesn't change that"

Remus wiped a stray tear from his eye and looked at Grant "You don't...think I'm...a monster...?"

"No" Grant said placing his hand on his "You're just even more special than I already knew you were"

Remus could feel himself on the verge of breaking down. With all of the panic, the sudden changes and the fear of his friends getting hurt he was getting closer and closer to sobbing and never stopping for breath.

But Grant understood. He always did.

Remus let out a loud sob and buried his head into Grant's shoulder. The other boy held him close and ran a hand through his hair. "Shhh, it's alright" he soothed as Remus' body shook.

They stayed like this for a few minutes before Remus seemed to calm down and very slowly pulled away from Grant, wiping his eyes hurriedly.

"Sorry I...I'm just...this is all so..."

"I know" said Grant. And that was that.

................................

The next morning, the birds woke Remus up. He felt as if he was back at St Edmunds again. He still couldn't believe he'd been back at that place only 48 hours ago. But now he was here, lying on a bed in a large extended tent, being hunted by werewolves and death eaters. Was this ever going to stop?

His eyes fluttered open to the sight of James and Grant making breakfast. His bed was the furthest into the tent and he could see through the entrance of the tent, the two of them cooking sausages, beans and eggs over a newly lit fire.

Remus reached over to check his watch and saw that it was 7:00am. He'd never seen Grant awake that early. Maybe it was the adrenaline of the trip that was making him have so much energy. No sooner had he seen them that James came through with a grin on his face, holding a steaming plate of breakfast.

"For the guest of honour. Breakfast in bed" James said bowing dramatically and Remus rolled his eyes but smiled gratefully. He had to admit he was very hungry.

He sat up and dug right into the breakfast. It wasn't as good as the Hogwart's breakfasts but then again nothing was. But he had to admit that the food was as perfect as camping food could be. He was cutting up his sausages when he heard a slight groan from the bed near the side, not too far away from his.

Sirius was rolling over, his mop of black curls blocking his face from the sunlight.

"Why are we awake?" he muttered lazily, still waking up.

"Breakfast time Padfoot! We've got a long day ahead!" James said enthusiastically as he practically dragged Sirius out of bed. Remus had to hold back a laugh as he saw Sirius' face, he'd never seen him look so tired.

Sirius opened one eye to glance at Remus and sighed "Why does Moony get breakfast in bed and not me?" he complained.

"Because he's Moony" Perter chimed in with a shrug and a smile.

Sirius groaned again before sticking his tongue playfully out at Remus, who stuck his out back.

"I'll be outside in a sec James, just gotta grab something warmer" Sirius said, his eye still on Remus.

James nodded before going to his next target. Peter. Unluckily for Peter he was dragged out of the tent to help with breakfast before he could protest as much as Sirius had done.

Sirius walked over, looking rather zombie like, and sat next to Remus on his bed.

"Good Morning sleeping beauty" Sirius flirted, finally opening both of his eyes to gaze at Remus lovingly.

"Good Morning" Remus responded, finishing the last of his breakfast.

"Blimey! You ate that fast" Sirius said and Remus shrugged, knowing that Sirius should be used to that by now.

"I was hungry. Barely slept last night" Remus responded, grabbing a glass of water and sipping it.

"Me neither" Sirius replied, pushing a lock of hair from his face. "Kept hearing stupid owls"

"I liked the sounds. They were calming but...still couldn't sleep" Remus said, putting his plate on the small beside table and turning to face Sirius.

"Still worried about...all of this?" Sirius asked, reaching out and cupping Remus' face affectionately.

"It's hard not to worry about" Remus said a matter of factly "All I keep thinking is how I dragged all of you into this"

"It was our choice Moony" Sirius reminded him and gave him a quick kiss "We're always gonna be here whether you like it or not you annoying twat" Sirius said which made Remus chuckle.

"Wanker" he retaliated, leaning in for another kiss before he heard Grant calling Sirius over to help collect more firewood.

"Oh great, Princess Peach is calling me" Sirius said and Remus hit him playfully.

"Be nice" he said, unable to keep the smile off of his face.

"Always" Sirius said before darting out of the tent, leaving a smiling Remus in the tent.
