Chapter 21

The lab that Omega led us to didn't look that different from the medical one I had frequented. It didn't seem that different to them either was we searched around.

"Hunter's comm is still active". Tech informed from next to me.

Wrecker shrugged his shoulders, "I don't get it. What's so special about this lab? He asked Omega.

Omega with her hand resting on a tube answered him, "Its where I was created". My eyes darted over to her. More guilty running through me.

"Here?" I stuttered.

She nodded. "You all we're here too".

Tech looked perplexed, "What do you mean?"

"Your mutations were enhanced in this room. Experimental Unit 99 began right here". She paused for a moment. "I was there". My eyes widened at her declaration. Then I looked amongst the others, Omega was older then them. That was an unexpected revelation.

Wrecker audibly gasped. "Wha... is that true?" He stared at Tech. Looking to him for an answer, that he obviously didn't have.

"How could I possibly know that?" He questioned his big brother. I chuckled lightly at his response.

"It was only for a short time, before you were sent to be with the other clones" she added. I thought crossed my mind. Maybe that's why she was so eager to meet them, from what Hunter told me. Because she was there the moment they were enhanced. She felt a connection to them seeing as how she was the only female clone. A genetically mutated clone like them. All the pieces were now falling into place. It all made sense.

Tech had moved his body to the main computer in the room. Searching it for anything he could find.

"Something's not right". He relied to us as I joined him at the computer.

"What's wrong?"

"The central files have been wiped. There's nothing in the system". He replied looking over to me. I gulped at that. That was strange and not a good sign. On several Jedi missions the sign of important files being wiped meant only one thing. That thought of it being that cause my body to tense up. If it was that then we needed to—

A clanking noise coming from one of the tubes caused all of us to react immediately. The boys weapons were drawn and I on instinct ignited my lightsaber. Who was ever behind the object moved away from it. Showing their appearance to is. I lowered my blade at the small bot.

"Do not shoot! I am AZI-345211-"

Omega lowered her bow, an audible surprised gasp escaping her mouth. "AZI?" She ran over to him. Clearly surprised and happy to see him again.

"Omega! I am relieved it is you". He replied.

"What are you doing down here?" She asked him. It did seem strange for him to be here when he appeared to be more of a medical looking droid.

"I am in hiding. Soldiers were deactivating droids and forcing key Kaminoan medical personnel onto transports. Those who resisted were eliminated". He informed all of us. My heart beat quickened. The cautious feelings from earlier now growing at AZI information. This was getting worse by the minute. Something was about to go down on Kamino and I desperately prayed to the force that we weren't still here when it did. Otherwise I dreaded what would happen to us.

"The clones did that?" Echo asked him. I shook my head, meeting all of their eyes.

"I-I don't think so. It must have been the same ones at the military base". I suggested.

"Correct. All clone troopers were reassigned and transferred off-world, with the exception of CT-9904".

I mentally cursed myself. So I was right. He was here. Meaning that he was probably setting a trap for us. I eyed Tech, who wasn't looking all that calm now. He was worried about Crosshairs potentially killing me. Echo too looked concerned for my safety as he eyes flickered to me.

"Crosshair's here?" Wrecker nervously said. "Should've known". He grumbled.

"Unfortunately". I muttered under my breath. Wrecker diverted his nervous look to me. A silent, yet readable expression plastered on all of this faces. They were worried about me being here. I sighed and brushed my fingers through me hair. A habit I did whenever I was anxious.

"It'll be okay guys". I responded, moving my gaze along the line. It didn't seem like I'd convinced them, but there was nothing any of us could do about it now.

"It is not safe here". AZI said. "You must leave".

"We can't. Not without Hunter". Omega demand shaking her head.

Tech clicked away on his data pad before a few before finally finding what he wanted. "Found him. His comm is pining from the central cloning platform". Tech stated lifting his eyes from his device.

"Your coming with us". Omega told AZI, reaching for his hand as all of us bolted out of the room towards Hunter's location.

All of sprinted down the multiple hallways to finally reach the platform. Most of us were panting with how long of a run it was. Not to mention we were moving faster then we normally would. This mission, however was very urgent. This room, however was one I did not recognize. Everyone else seemed to though. Tech raised his device up into the air, no doubt to detect the exact spot of Hunter's signal.

"According to the comm signal, Hunter is directly above us". He relied. I looked up at the ceiling, ping of reassurance flowing throughout out my body. Even if I was still on edge about what awaited us up top.

"The training room? That's open ground". Echo scoffed. "If Crosshair's waiting, he'll pick us off". So the training room was above us. I knew that place well. I had helped train new clone squads their at times.

"He definitely will". I added no doubt that Echo was right. Wrecker nodded too.

   "Oh, he's waiting".

Tech lifted his finger up. "Precisely why we will not be going in through the main entrance like he would expect. We'll enter through the lift. That should give us a slight advantage". I smiled at my partner.

"Brilliant as always, Tech". I winked at him.

"Really?" Echo grumbled. I nudged him in the ribs.

"Alright let's go!" Omega piped up, wanting to get things moving along. As did the rest of the squad. However as I exchanged a look with the rest of them, I agreed. It was for her own good.

"No. Your waiting here". Echo ordered.

Omega shook her head vigorously. "What?!" She scoffed.

"Crosshair is after us, not you". Wrecker reminded her as he approached the lift.

  "What about Onyx? Won't he-"

"I can handle him". I said cutting her off as I too, walked into the platform. "I've been through worse, Omega. Besides these guys won't let him hurt me, especially this one". I reassured her as I placed a hand on Techs arm. He stared at me for a moment before he nodded his head. I knew he was weighing all the outcomes in his head. What the possibility of me being okay would be, but I also knew he had to trust my judgment on what I could handle. Tech would protect me no matter what. Wrecker and Echo too would have my back. We were a family after all.

"It's a trap! You'll need back up!" She pleaded.

"Your absolutely right. If things go bad, we'll send you a signal. Then get back to the ship and contact Rex. He'll protect you then, Omega". I stated. As Tech activated the lift, sending us up I prayed that things wouldn't go south. For all our sakes. The minute I could see a glimpse of what was waiting for us, I sensed the incoming danger. With no hesitation I unclipped my blade and lighted it. Green light shining all across my face.

Every single trooper that greeted us, had their weapons pointed at us. Without a doubt ready to fire. Hunter was the second thing my gaze noticed. He looked unharmed, causing a small wave of relief to flow through. However that unfortunately was taken away as I, then spotted their brother. He had his blaster pointed at his own and I wanted in that instant to use the force to take it away from him.

"And here we all are". Crosshair said. "Together again. You won't be needing your weapons". There was no way in hell that I was going to let them touch my saber.

Hunter, however reluctantly nodded his head. The squad, including me were stunned by his order. I cursed the force for this, but we followed his silent order. I dropped my blade onto the ground just as a trooper behind me ran up and cuffed me. I let out a groan of pain at the way he handled me. The metal cuffs digging into my purple skin. It was clearly tighter then I wanted. But he nor the others cared. Tech grew more agitated as he took in my now, handcuffed appearance. He was very displeased with this. Both Echo and Wrecker too were not happy about this arrangement.

"See? Following orders isn't so difficult. Where is the kid?" Crosshair asked his other brothers. I narrowed my brows at him.

"You think we'd bring her here?" Wrecker chuckled, trying his best to lie. "We're smarter than that".

"Lying was never your strength, Wrecker. Find the girl". He ordered his men. I watched as Echo quickly sent Omega the signal.

"Stop Crosshair!! She's innocent!" I shouted at him. A furious tone lacing my voice. His glare shot to me. I didn't back down. I stared straight into his dark eyes.

"None of you are innocent!" He shot back.

"So this was your grand plan?" Hunter questioned him. "Bring is here and kill is?"

"If I wanted you dead, you would be. Not that it wouldn't be justified. You betrayed everything we stood for. And for what? The republic?" He eyes moved back to me. "The Jedi?" I continued to glare at him. How dare he bring the Jedi into this! They were innocent!

"We're loyal to each other, not some Empire". Hunter shot back.

Crosshair shook his head at him. "You weren't loyal to me". I knew he was in pain from the slight shakiness to his voice, but that did not excuse him from the thing he did! It never would.

"I was one of you. You may have forgotten, but I haven't. And it's why I'm going to give you what you never gave me: a chance". I shook my head. I knew it was unbecoming of a Jedi to let their anger cloud their judgement, but I was seething at his words.

"A chance?! The Empire sent you on a mission to murder civilians, Crosshair!! Civilians!! Women and children and you didn't even bat an eye!! You turned in your own brothers because they went against that order! You chose your path". I shouted at him. I wanted him to hear me. I knew he was hurting, but so was I. "It's not their fault that didn't want to mindlessly kill for the Empire! The same Empire that had no problem killing innocent Jedis left and right!!". My voice was rough from the blows I was dealing him, but I needed him to know how cruel the Empire was.

"Good soldiers follow orders". Was all he uttered back to me as his com link went off. In that moment he was lucky I didn't have my weapon in my hand.

"Sir, I've found the girl".

"Send her on a shuffle off world". He replied.

I stepped forward as did Hunter. He reacted, trying his best to hid his emotions for Omega. As did I.

   "Don't".

"It's for her own good. And yours".

"Omega belongs with us!". Hunter said firmly.

"Living amongst fugitives where she's in constant danger". Crosshair mocked. I clenched my teeth. "You want to protect the kid, then let her go". Even if he was particularly right, I didn't care. Omega was better off with us. We were her family.

"She's better staying with us!" Both Hunter and I ordered.

Crosshair scoffed at the two of us. "Stop pretending to be something you're not, Hunter. We're soldiers. We're superior. Don't throw that away for kid or Jedi. The Empire can't protect the galaxy without strength. This is what we were made for. Think of all we could do. Together". Crosshair suggested. A flash of something dark in his eyes caused a chill down my back. He then undid Hunters cuff. They loudly hit the ground below as Hunter was pushed back towards his squad. "We we're brothers once. We can be again".

"Why should we trust you? After all you did". I questioned him as Tech finally figured out how to unlock my cuffs. I took my wrist between my fingers. Rubbing at the red patches that were beginning to form. Crosshair in the next instant caught us all off guard. He aimed his gun in my direction. Tech's eyes widened in pure terror. Both our heartbeats beating a million miles per minute.

"Stand down". He ordered the others. He was telling his men to lower their weapons. I glanced over to Hunter. Both of us taken aback by that request.

"Negative". They responded, gripping their guns tighter. The tension in the room finally released when Crosshair moved his weapon to the right, aiming at a surface that I had no doubt would reflect the blaster fire. And sure enough it did. The red beam of light hit the first trooper square in the chest. The beam bounced off him and rendered the rest of them lifeless on the ground. All of us were left speechless by his actions.

"Does that answer your question?" He walked forward, but now had his blaster at Hunter's front, forcing him to walk backwards. "You all are meant for more than drifting through the galaxy. It's time to stop running. Join the Empire and you will have purpose again".

"You really don't get who we are, do you?" Hunter asked him.

"Don't make the same mistake twice". Crosshair warned. "Don't become my enemy".

I narrowed my eyes at his threat. "We we're never your enemy, Crosshair". I stated walking towards him. "The Empire will never respect you like they will!" I gestured to his brothers. "They will never respect you like I will".

Before he or anyone could utter another word alarms blared around us. I shifted my head around to the droids raising up from the ground.

Onyx's reaction is how I felt at first towards Crosshair's actions. I was upset with him. I understand him being upset and feeling like he was betrayed, but him choosing the Empire over his brothers pissed me off. After season two I just want to give him a hug and let him know his brothers got it.
