Disappointment

Here goes nothing...

"Actually I do." I kept my head down, away from looking into his eyes.

"What is it then?" He questioned.

We sat there for a minute until I finally decided to get up and get the paper. When I got back to where we were sitting Jake looked confused.

"Is that homework? Do you need help with something Jane?" I handed him what it really was.

"Detention? Why?" He asked.

"Just read it." I pointed to the place where it said 'reason.'

"For fighting?!" He got louder. "Did you fight Jessica like I told you not to do?" He asked now looking at me.

"I had to Jake! She wouldn't leave me alone. I can't stand like her." I hatefully said.

"I know but I told you not to fight her babe. Don't make her make you mad." He stood up for me.

"Jake you just don't understand." I said quieting down.

"Yes I do." He took my hand. "We can do this babe." I was shocked at his reaction.

I thought Jake would be more mad at me, especially since I'm his new girlfriend and I don't want to let him down over Jessica. Tomorrow, I'm going to go down to the office and discuss with the principle that it's not my fault. She has been bothering me ever since. And I won't put up with it anymore. After tomorrow she'll never want to come near me again.

"Babe." Jake shook me because I got in a sad daze thinking about this.

"Yeah? Oh right we can do this." I hugged him.

"Yeah. I know we can." He kissed me.

In class the next day
_______________

She is not going to ruin me any longer.

Just you wait Jessica I thought.

"I have to go now are you going to be alright here this time. I mean it." He said.

"Jake I will promise you I'll be okay." To prove it I kissed his lips.

"Great. I'll see you later then." He smiled.

"Meet me here after class." I said.

"Trust me I am." He said and walked away down the crowded hallway.

As I watched him go I noticed Jessica coming down the hall in the opposite direction of Jake.

He grabbed her arm and stopped her. Oh no.

**Jake's POV**

"Hey. Don't even bother with messing with Jane. She doesn't deserve it." I strictly told her.

"Oh why? Because she's your girlfriend." She laughed.

"Jessica I mean it! If I catch you you're done. She already has detention from you." I confronted.

"Yeah so do I." She said.

"Well it's your fault." I walked off.

I heard her laugh as I went to class and hoped she wouldn't mess with Jane today.

**Jane's POV**

I saw Jake then walk off after a minute or so and there came Jessica, strolling through the doorway.

"Oh look. Jake's girlfriend." She hissed.

Annoyance and hatred was written all over her.

"I can't believe your still here." She said getting some people's attention.

Don't fight her. Don't approach her. Don't speak to her Jane. You can do this. I thought.

I kept replaying Jake's words in my mind to not fight her or talk to her.

"Do something skank." She said.

Oh that was it.

"What are you still doing here Jessica?! Thought you fell in a ditch on the way here." I said. Some people said 'ooo' and I smiled grateful that I wasn't alone.

"I drove here. And I'm here to ruin your life." She said pleasingly.

Nobody did anything.

Then our teacher walked in.

"Alright! Seats please." She demanded.

"Yeah Jessica." I sneered at her.

We all sat down and for a minute Jessica actually didn't bother me.

"Who knows what the answer is?" My teacher asked us all.

I raised my hand. Just because Jessica was here, doesn't mean I can't participate and actually get a grade in this class.

"16?" I tried.

"Yes that's correct!" She said.

"Yes." I whispered to myself.

"Next one? Anybody?" Jessica's hand flew up. Great, now she thinks it's a game trying to beat me.

"Jessica." The teacher called on her.

"28!" Jessica guessed looking at her paper.

"No that's incorrect. Not quite Jessica but it's okay." She looked around for someone else with their hand up.

"Anyone?" I heard Jessica hiss at me.

"What?" I looked at her.

"Don't try me." She said.

"I'm not trying anything but my math." I laughed and moved on.

I laid a hand on my paper so she wouldn't copy.

"I know!" Someone called out.

"Yes Justin." Was the boys name.

"42." He said strongly.

"That's right! You guys are good!" She said smiling to us.

"Thanks." We replied back.

"Thanks." Jessica repeated mockingly back.

I looked down for the rest of class and when it was time for us to go, Jake was already there waiting for me outside the door.

"Hey babe how was class today?" He asked me.

"It was great! I participated and stuff. And got the right answer too." I told him.

"Nice babe. How was Jessica?" He wondered.

"She didn't really bother me that much. Only a few times and she told me to 'not try her' just because she got it wrong and I got it right." I said.

"Well I did tell her to leave you alone, so I'd expect her to listen. And what does she mean by that?" He got worried.

"Who knows. Babe don't worry I'm fine." I explained.

"Okay." We walked back to our room and on the way I saw my friend Judy.

"Hey Jude." I said.

"Oh hey Jane! I've missed you." She hugged me.

"Awe I've missed you too Judy." I told her.

It was true. I really did miss Judy and ever since we got here it's split us apart. I mean, we're best friends so I should be with her more.

"How are your classes?" I snapped out of the daze I was in.

"Their good but some are really hard ones. You?" I said.

"Same thing here. I really like my world history class it's alright." She explained.

"Nice. I'm good at math and that too." I said.

"Well I have to go now. Date night." She said.

"Really? Have fun. I've been on plenty with Jake." I smiled and looked over at him.

"You guys are a thing now?" She asked us.

"Yeah. I couldn't be happier." I kissed Jake.

"Okay guys I have to go now." She said.

"Bye Judy." I went to our room.

"That was nice to see her." I sat down on my bed.

"Yeah she's nice. I'm glad she has someone to share memories with like us." Jake took my hand in his.

"Totally. I'm glad we have those memories." I said.

"Wanna go out?" He asked.

"As in date night or just go out?" I said.

"Yeah just to go out." He said.

"Sure. But anywhere to avoid Jessica." I reminded him.

"Right."

"Let's go then!" I laughed.
