3rd person Pov

The girl in black with slicked back hair walks in and Mike seemingly freaks out in joy.

"Eleven..." He says in disbelief.

Eleven...the girl Alex had to compete with for my own fathers love, he should feel angry that she's here, but she looks like she's gone through hell and back, and everyone here seems to like her more than him, is what he told himself.

"I never gave up on you, I called you every night for-"

"353 days...I heard" She cries softly.

"Why didn't you say anything?"

"Because I wouldn't let her" Hopper says sternly before arguing with Mike, he takes him off to cool down as Eleven hugs Dustin and Lucas.

"We missed you" They say as they hug.

"Eleven?" Max's voice calls out, she sounds genuinely happy which makes Alex's heart warm. "I'm Max, I've heard a lot about you" 

Eleven walks straight past Max towards Alex who looks at her neutrally.

"You probably don't know me like you know the others but-" He begins but Eleven cuts him off.

"Papa" She simply says, the mention of that name earns her a glance from Alex that no one was expecting, a look that Alex could kill with. 

"We don't talk about him...understand" He says mumbling threateningly so only Eleven can hear, she looks scared for a moment before nodding slowly as she runs to Joyce and she takes him to see Will.

"Who's 'papa'" Max naively asks.

"No one" Alex simply says as he sits down in silence as the others look at him, he's so focused on not talking he doesn't even realise Joyce talking to Eleven about this 'gate'.

Time skip

Alex Pov

"Its gotten bigger, not to mention the place is crawling with those dogs" Hopper sighs.

"Demo dogs-"

"Dustin if this is gonna cause another pointless argument I don't wanna hear it" I sigh which earns a small laugh from a few people.

"Sorry...geez someone's cranky" He mocks.

"Oh I'm sorry, your pet nearly tore my head off so I'm sorry if I seem a little out of it" I mock back, causing Hopper to almost crack with laughter.

"I can close it" Eleven says, earning a glance from Hopper.

"Your not hearing me-" Hopper says but is cut off.

"I can do it" Eleven reiterates.

"Even if she can do it there's another problem, if its a hive mind-" Mike starts.

"Then everything it controls dies when it does...meaning Will also dies" I say realising. Joyce goes into Wills room and comes to the realisation we need to make Will uninhabitable for the mind flayer, so Joyce, Nancy and Jonathan all head for Hoppers cabin.

"C'mon Alex, lets go" Hopper says motioning for me to join him.

"No can do, gotta protect these guys" I say motioning to the others.

"We don't need protection, not from you" Lucas bitterly complains.

"Yeah I mean, I got this..." Steve says holding his bat.

"I saved your asses at the junkyard, not to be rude but I think its better safe than sorry, plus those guys can handle themselves" I say as Hopper and Eleven leave for the lab.

Time skip

As Dustin and Steve try shoving the 'demo dog' into the fridge, I sit on the couch and Max takes a seat directly next to me.

"I'm sorry for being so..." I try to find the words but Lucas comes up with one faster.

"Annoying" He snaps.

"That's the word" I click my fingers, gaining a laugh from Max. Mike paces up and down as he's worried for the others.

"Mike would you just stop already" Lucas snaps again.

"The place is crawling with those things."

"Listen if a coach calls a play in a game, bottom line you execute it alright?" Steve explains.

"What?...we're not even on the game we're on the bench" Mike quips back.

"R-right so...we cant do anything so...yeah" Steve stammers.

"I mean...we probably can" I say.

"Yeah, these demo dogs have a hive mind" 

"So if we draw their attention"

"We can clear a path to the lab" 

"Yeah and then we ALL DIE" Steve interrupts our idea session.

"I got an idea" I say standing up. 

"Some people from the lab were investigating the pumpkin farm, turns out its the same place Hopper dug his whole to these tunnels, and it call connects...to here" I say tapping my foot to the centre. "So if we...set it on fire" 

"Yeah, nope" Steve says.

"We draw their attention" Max finishes.

"Circle back to the entrance, then celebrate saving the world" I smirk.

"No way, I promised I'd keep you shitheads safe" Steve interjects.

Just then, a car engine can be heard revving outside, Max looks out the window.

"Shit its my brother, the same one who...uh..." Max says looking at me.

"Ran over my foot?" I smirk.

"Yeah" She mumbles.

As Steve goes to expertly deal with the situation everyone but me crowds around the window, about thirty seconds later Billy bursts through the door.

"Lucas Sinclair, what a surprise" He says as Lucas looks petrified. "Thought I told you to stay away from him Max" 

"Go away Billy" She orders.

"You disobeyed me...you know what happens when you disobey me?...I break things" He says before picking Lucas up and slamming him against the wall. I look over so Steve who's still on the floor outside and look at the others, who are frozen in fear, I might as well act.

"Hey Steve 2" I call out as he continues to threaten Lucas. "I never got to thank you for my foot" 

I right hook him in the face when he turns around and he looks at me angrily.

"Your so dead kid." He threatens as he goes to punch me, but I block it and get him in a headlock, before slamming his head against a wall.

Me and him engage in a spit for spat, him getting a few punches on me, and me getting some on him, while the others cheer for me.

"Kick his ass Alex" I hear Lucas chant.

"Yeah get him" Dustin squeals.

Just then Billy picks up a glass vase and I predict he's gonna try and smash my head with it, so I'm forced to protect myself.

"S̴͙̻̓́t̵̨̛̤̟͂͗o̴̫̓͋̂p̶̥̀" I say as his eyes go white and he drops the vase and freezes in place, his arms going limp.

Everyone stares at me as I look back to them.

"I guess I should explain"

One power explanation later

"So...you can mind control people?" Max says in disbelief.

"Yep"

"And your Elevens...brother"

"Nope, she took my fathers love from me" I explain.

"...Shit" Dustin interjects.

"Anyway we got some dogs to lure" I say.

"Absolutely not" Steve says.

"Don't make me mind control you" I blankly say.

"You wouldn't dare" Steve threatens.

Time skip

I mind controlled Steve to drive us to the farm and he freaks out and says he's gonna be sick, mind control seems to have that effect on people. We all gather our gear, including parts of my hazmat Halloween costume and my flare, and prepare to go down into the tunnels. While Dustin tries convincing Steve I lower the rope down and Climb down first.

We all make our way down and Steve announces he'll be leading the way from now on. After a while of uneventful travel, Dustin gets something in his mouth but I pay no attention as I keep on going. We find our way into the hub and begin dousing it in gasoline. 

One of the tendrils grabs Mike and I quickly slice it off with my machete and help him up. We continue walking and then see a dog, although this one appears non violent.

"Dart" Dustin slowly speaks, he appears to have a one sided conversation with the demon spawn, including offing him a three musketeers, his distraction lets us all slip past him. We make our way to the hole and Steve ushers Max up, then we hear noises from what must be hundreds of those dogs, I work out that we're not all gonna make it so I decide I'll buy us some time.

"What are you doing!" Dustin yells as I head towards the voice and activating my flare. 

"Buying you some time" I say as I run in another way with the flare activates, the distraction seems to work as hundreds of the dogs follow me and run right past the others.

"ALEX!" Dustin calls out in sadness.

"What's going on!" Max yells from the top of the hole.

"Alex..." Lucas mumbles from next to her.

I continue running until I trip and see the dogs all dashing towards me, I expect to die and try to think of happy thoughts to make it a little less sad, the only thing I can come up with is my time with Max, and writing those songs about her. I close my eyes ready to die but they all run past me, to my surprise. 

"She did it" I say thinking of Eleven.

3rd Person Pov

The group all meets at the top of the hole as they think about what just happened.

"Where's Alex?" Max says slightly panicked.

"He saved us..." Lucas says still in disbelief.

"W-what" Max says feeling her eyes start to tear up.

The group is silent for a moment before they hear a familiar voice.

"Little help down here" Alex calls out, Max and Steve rush to the hole to find Alex perfectly fine.

"H-how" Max says still teary eyed.

"Eleven..." Mike states.

Time skip

Its the day of the 'Snow Ball' and I wasn't allowed to go. My dad found out about the trashed house from my demo dog attack, I was lucky enough to bury the dead dog in backyard before he got home but the house was still a mess. I was technically allowed to go but I had to be a helper and thus couldn't dance with anyone. 

I'm currently stationed near the drink station as Max approaches me.

"Hey...wanna dance?" She asks nervously.

"I'm sorry, my dad forbid me from dancing with anyone because the house was trashed...and I want you to have a good night, I'm sorry I can't dance with you..." I apologise sadly.

"Oh...ok" Max sighs sadly before going to walk off.

"Wait" I say making her turn around hopefully.

"How about, after this, I come round your house, put on the cheesiest music I can find and dance to that" I smile.

"I'd like that" She also smiles.

The rest of the night goes by in a flash as I patiently wait for my chance to leave to go see Max.

Time skip

I walk towards Max's house with some flowers and a cassette tape, I knock on the door and after a while a older woman with red hair knocks on the door.

"Can I help you?" She asks.

"Uh I'm here to see Max...ma'am" I nervously say.

She gets really happy and practically starts bouncing at this news.

"MAX... A CUTE BOYS AT THE DOOR, HES SUCH A GENTLEMAN TOO!" She yells.

Max rounds the corner looking embarrassed but her face goes red instantly when I give her the flowers.

"You two have fun" She cheers as she drags me to her room.

"Sorry about her, she can be embarrassing sometimes" Max sighs.

"I think its charming...and who knew you could be so cute when your flustered" I smile causing her to get even more red.

"Just play the music" She mumbles as I play 'careless whisper'.

"May I have this dance?" I smirk at her, she takes my hand and we slowly fall into a rhythm.

"I'm glad I met you...and it's also pretty cool to find out your a superhero" Max admits.

"I suppose you can be my Lois Lane" I smirk.

"I'd like that..." She mumbles happily. I notice she stares at my lips then back to me.

"Can I...kiss you?" I ask nervously. She doesn't say anything and just pulls me in for a kiss, it's a short and sweet one, followed the by a longer more passionate one.

We dance for a while longer before we decide to watch a movie, she ends up falling asleep on my chest, and I soon follow in resting my head on hers.

Unbeknownst to the both of us Max's mother had come in the room and taken a photo of us sleeping and smiled happily that her daughter has found someone she cares about.
