Ferris Wheel

It was my third date with Louis, and so far everything had been lovely. There was only one thing that surprised me. Louis hadn't kissed me yet. He hadn't even tried to. I knew in some convoluted world third dates were usually when you had sex, even though I personally found that a bit too soon, I was surprised he hadn't kissed me yet.

Tonight we were going to a fair, and I was beyond excited. It was a kinda small event, no roller coasters, just small rides, and games. I didn't really care where I was going, Louis always made everything fun.

"So what shall we do first?" Louis asked me as we stared at the prospects.

"Hmmm," I thought for a moment.

"I'll play you in a game of ring toss," I suggested.

"Sounds like a plan," his eyes glinted mischievously. He of course ended up winning, having the coordination of a football player on his side.

"Alright I'll pick now," he said rubbing his hands together excitedly. You laughed at his impish expression.

"How abouttttt.... the dunking booth," he suggested.

"Hell no," I laughed. "I'm not spending the rest of this date sopping wet."

"Oh alright," he grinned. "Let's just look around then yeah?"

I agreed hastily, and we began to walk through, observing our choices. After a few seconds, I boldly took his hand in mine. Louis didn't say anything but stiffened. I was worried he thought I was being clingy, but when I took a sneak glance at his face, he was smiling broadly. He tightened his grip on my hand, and I felt happiness fill my chest.

He eventually chose bumper cars, which was mad, but fun all the same. We went to the petting zoo section and held rabbits, and watched ducklings hatch. We went on the scrambler and played a lot of carnival games. He tried to win me a giant bear but ended up just being able to get a small stuffed fox. I assured him I liked the fox much better.

As it was getting dark I saw something we hadn't tried.

"Look Louis," I said pointing. "A love-test-O-meter! Can we try it?"

"Sure," he said, with a grin.

"Okay we've got to pull it together," I told him. He nodded, and we yanked the old handle down. The light raced through the options until it finally landed on the result.

"Red hot!" I said excitedly, and Louis was smiling.

"Sounds good to me," he winked, and I felt as though I might melt. He slung an arm around my shoulders.

"Where to next?"

I felt a bit giddy from the sudden affection, and it took me a moment to answer.

"Ferris wheel?" I asked, trying to sound normal.

"Brilliant, I'd forgotten we hadn't done that yet."

We paid for a ticket and both of us got in the swinging seat. Honestly, I'd never been on a Ferris wheel, and I thought I'd be more frightened, but I was fine. When we stopped at the top, I looked out over the city. The sun was just setting and the lights of the fair had all come on. The effect was beautiful. With this picturesque scene before me, I felt the courage to finally ask Louis the question I'd been dying to know.

"Louis?" I began, and he turned to me, his gorgeous facial features highlighted with multiple colors. It took my breath away for a moment.

"Louis, um, why haven't you kissed me yet?" I asked boldly. He grinned.

"Do you want me to?" He asked.

"Of course!" I said a bit too quickly, but he didn't seem to notice. "It just doesn't seem like you want to kiss me." I looked down embarrassed.

"Hey," Louis put a finger under my chin, so my face was level with his again.

"Of course I want to bloody kiss you," he grinned. "I just, I really like you, and I want this to work out. I didn't want to rush anything, I want it to be perfect."

"Well it's a perfect time to kiss me," I said with a grin.

"In that case," he took my face in his hands and placed his lips on mine. A warm feeling spread throughout my body. He continued to kiss me, wrapping his arms around me. I was so affected I didn't even notice the ride had begun to move again.

"Alright, you two!" Said a gruff voice and we broke apart. "Rides over." It was of course the operator. We stumbled off the ride giggling. When on solid ground, Louis kissed me again, and it was just as good as the first.
