Ruins (duh)
Your POV

I keep staring at Chara after what she just revealed, her grave? What?

Chara: You knew I was a ghost, why act so surprised?

(Y/n): So now when I fall on top of a grave I should smile and not be surprised at all? Do you realize that I was face to face with a rotten corpse?

Chara: It's probably just bones by now, don't be a wuss, you're gonna die too, not that you didn't before. How many times did that fish kill you? Ten? Twelve?

(Y/n): Shut it...

Chara: Yeah yeah, just don't try to pin that genocide on me

(Y/n): You talk like you didn't do shit

Chara: Well, I did, but not before you started it

I glare at her kinda angry but then walk away dismissively, she's right, like it or not. I then start walking towards Toriel's house ignoring every single monster that crosses my path, solving puzzles again, and taking items I find on the ground.

Chara: Do you really need this junk? It's just an old ribbon, that's useless

(Y/n): I can either sell this or try to use it somehow, it can't be THAT useless. You on the other hand...

Chara: WHAT?

She's then interrupted by a familiar voice.

Toriel: Oh my gosh... That took longer than I anticipated.

(Y/n): Yup, you sure took your time, you know?

Toriel: My child? How did you get here?

(Y/n): Uh... The path leads straight to here soooooo...

Toriel: Are you hurt? Are you okay?

(Y/n): I'm fine, I'm fine, don't worry about it, I don't have a single scratch

Chara: Lucky you I don't have a physical body right now, you piece of...

Toriel: That's impressive! Although... It was irresponsible of me to let you all by yourself for such a long time

(Y/n): Nah, I just... slept anyway, don't think I was in real danger. But I did found this ribbon while I was walking, who it belongs to?

Toriel stops for a moment and looks at the ribbon with painful eyes and a sad smile but she doesn't respond.

(Y/n): It's from one of the fallen kids, isn't it?

Toriel:... Why... Why don't you come inside?

I put the ribbon in one of my pockets and notice something different in the ground far from where I'm standing. As Toriel walks to her home, I dash to the object and notice that is a toy knife

Chara: I knew trash normally comes with more trash, but you surpassed my expectations, you know?

(Y/n): Shut up, it's s from one of them... Let's keep this for now

I grab the toy and run towards Toriel who's waiting for me

(Y/n): Soooo... What's the smell?

Toriel: It's the pie I'm baking for you, you didn't pick up the phone, so I made Butterscotch-cinnamon pie, do you like it?

(Y/n): yeah, I do.

Chara (mumbling): Me too...

Toriel: What wonderful news! I'll check the pie, I'm not sure if you're still sleepy, but if you are, the first room on the left is yours, you can sleep there

(Y/n): Thanks, but I won't sleep now, I'll go check the house, is that ok?

Toriel: Yes, it is, please, make yourself at home

As she said that she rapidly walks to the kitchen to check the pie, I start to wander around the house to see if I find something intriguing, but to no avail, I only seem to find books and more books, most of them are about snails and uses to snails or things like that, and Chara is now weirdly quiet comparing to how she was acting before.

(Y/n): Not that I should care, but, why are you this quiet now? Did you hit your toe on the wall or something?

Chara: No... It's just... This place... This house... That bedroom

(Y/n): Comfy, no?

Chara: It brings back memories... Memories I wish I could just forget...

(Y/n): I'm sorry...

I quietly walk towards the fireplace to see Toriel, resting by the fire reading a book

Toriel: Are you done already?

(Y/n): Pretty much, you surely do like snails, don't you?

Toriel: You can put it that way, it's nice, to say the least, but I've read them all already sometimes I miss new books.

(Y/n): Is that so? I think I have a book in my pack... But it's probably a horror one, is that ok?

Toriel: You do? Oh my! I didn't think you were a reader

(Y/n): Can't say I'm a reader, but sometimes I do enjoy reading a little

I then proceed to open my (F/c) backpack and look for the book, I take out most of my things just to finally find the book resting near an old photo of my friends

(Y/n): Here it is, it's called "Portrait of Markov" you can have it, I'm pretty much done with it now

Toriel: What else do you have in that backpack? Looks like you were running away from someplace

(Y/n): Well... I just have this piece of fabric, clothes, and bottles, maybe some medicine, but nothing much, it is a small backpack, so it doesn't have much inside of it

Chara: She's right, we're you running from home?

I slowly lift my finger towards my mouth and silently hush Chara

Toriel: Okay then, guess I'll read the book,  thank you for letting me have it

(Y/n): Don't mention it, I'll check the pie, is that ok?

Toriel: It's quite alright, you can take a piece if it's cold enough

(Y/n): Thank you, I'll check the pie now

I went to the kitchen and see that the pie wasn't gonna burn me if I tried to eat it, I then took five pieces of the pie and put three in a bowl, and put the bowl inside the backpack, after keeping those pieces for later, I took the other two to the living room and gave one to Toriel, we then started to talk about the books and the place for some time.

Time skip

After chatting for a few hours, I started to get curious about the other kids, so I began to ask more direct questions to Toriel

(Y/n): Tori... The other children, they're not alive, are they?

Toriel immediately lost her smile and started to shake, my (H/c) covered my (E/c) eyes while I kept my head down trying not to make eye contact with her

Toriel: W-why do you ask, my c-child?

(Y/n): Are they alive, Toriel?

Toriel then gained a sad smile while tears started to form in her eyes

Toriel: No... I suppose they aren't alive anymore...

(Y/n):  And why is that? Who killed them, and why?

Toriel: They need 7 humans souls to break the barrier that keeps us locked down here, so Asgore decided that he would kill any human who has fallen, so he could break the barrier and free us monsters forever

(Y/n): Why does he want to kill every human that falls?

Chara steps back quietly with water starting to emerge from her eyes.

Toriel looks to be holding up her tears with all her might, I've never seen someone fight the tears like she's doing now

Toriel: Because they... They've killed my kids... The humans above... They've killed my sweet Asriel... They've killed my beautiful Chara... They've killed my happiness...

(Y/n): (Wait... Chara...? Holy...) And... In the heat of the moment... Driven by hate, Asgore declared war against the humans, am I right?

Toriel: Yes... You are...

(Y/n): And you don't agree with his choice, so you left, you abandoned him when he was at his lowest? Tori, it wasn't a kind choice... He needed you by his side.

Toriel burst in tears, soaking her fur and her robe while I started to comfort her

(Y/n): Don't worry, it's alright to cry, you've been holding them for so long now, I get you didn't want to talk about this, but you had to, it's best if you don't keep things like that to yourself, how long since you've talked about this?

Toriel: I've... Never...

(Y/n): See? It's not healthy to keep these things to yourself, you have to open yourself sometimes, it's good for your mental health, you know?

Toriel: Thank you... For helping me... But... What do I do now? I just miss Them so much...

(Y/n): For now... You rest, take a nap, and later, you talk to Asgore, tell him that you're sorry, keep all that rage aside, forget about your anger, just talk to him, like an old friend of yours, ok?

Toriel: T-talk to him? But... What about all those he's killed?

(Y/n): Are you sure he wanted to do that?

Toriel: No...

(Y/n): Then talk to him... But first, rest, ok?

Toriel: Yes... And, what about you?

(Y/n): Me? I'm gonna explore the underground, gonna see what beauties you have here below the mountain

Toriel: But... They will... Asgore will...

(Y/n): Don't worry, I reckon I'll be alright for myself. Just sleep for a while, then, you call him, ok?

Toriel: Please... Don't die... Be good, my child

(Y/n): Don't worry, I'll be alright, I can handle myself just fine, I'll keep in touch, ok?

Toriel: Ok then... Stay safe...

I then went down to the basement and headed straight to the door that guarded the ruins. Nearing the gate, a flower popped out of the ground right in front of me.

(Y/n): What do you want now?

Flowey: What are you doing?? You're supposed to kill them all! What's happening to you?

(Y/n): Don't drag me into this little game of yours, you're just so full of anger, stop being selfish for once, no wonder why you keep hiding like a coward.

I then start to ignore him and walk to the gate, once I got near enough, I opened the giant door and was met with an enormous snowy forest with just one trail to follow

(Y/n): So... You're the "Princess" right? Don't take it personally, but I won't treat you like part of the royalty

Chara just shrugs clearly affected by the talk I had to Toriel

(Y/n): Guess that hurt you too huh?... I can not believe I'll try to do this

I then try to hug her and surprisingly I can, it feels like hugging jello or water, and I almost feel like I could phase through her at any moment, but that didn't happen, and we just stood there quietly.
