Control Me

Luisa

The time I was enjoying with my mother was cut short when I was pulled out of the Flame. The cold air drew from the capsule and I took a deep breath, flickering my eyes open to see a stranger hovering over me. I quickly assumed they were a prisoner and their chamber had malfunctioned so I grabbed their head and slammed it into my thick skull.

He stumbled, giving me the chance to get up and hop off the bed. Getting my defenses ready, he set out his hand and kneeled, respectfully.

"I am Jordan Jasper Green, son of Monty and Harper Green," he said, his eyes fixated on the ground. "Hello, Commander Kane." "Son?" I questioned. "Where are your parents?" "Dead." I gulped, looking at him to stand.

"You've been asleep for over a century," he stated. I clenched my jaw and began following him to the command center. "They wanted me to show you this video before waking anyone else first." He connected the monitor and the old Monty and Harper showed on the screen.

"Hi Luisa," he greeted. "I figured since you're commander, I'd tell you first and I do hope you decide to show everyone else this video.

"It took me decades to break through the encrypted file before taking another few years to find the planet. As you said, Planet Alpha does exist and we've set course for it. If you're seeing this video, then you must be there. In the traveling time, Harper and I have stayed alive and have had a child, Jordan. Obviously, he was named after Jasper. You must've met him already.

"I just wanted to say, that when you reach the planet, you can still change. You can still find your humanity, everyone can. Just... do better. I wish I could see Planet Alpha, I have a feeling it looks beautiful."

"Goodbye Luisa," Harper whispered. "Bellamy, Clarke, Raven, Miller, O, and everyone else." "May we meet again," they said.

A bright ray of sunlight came across the flooring and I moved towards the window. My breath hitched and my lips fell agape as I stared wondrously at the view. My eyes filled with water and the sight of the massive blue world with streaks of orange was astonishing. My eyes caught the suns that shined on it and cried. Seeing Earth had been amazing but after everything we had been through—everything I had been through— Planet Alpha was breathtaking.

"Mebi oso na hit choda op nodotaim," I whispered, wiping my tears. I turned and looked at Jordan, walking into the hallway. I awoke a few people so they could hear the message, only because Monty wanted them to hear it too.

I was behind the group as they listened, crying just as I did as they looked at the new world. Once the video had ended, Jordan closed the view to the window and we retreated into the dining hall to speak as we ate. Jordan served some of Monty's perfected algae and some moonshine to go along with it.

Once I grabbed my bowl I sat at a separate table, watching everyone enjoy themselves. It was a reunion that I wasn't a part of. I took a sip of the green concoction that tasted better than the bunker's mixture and chugged the moonshine. The only thought that ran across my mind was that they need someone smart enough to wander the new world. This group couldn't rely on my habits but they only tolerated me because the order of the Flame and they'd have an entire army against them. However, they could trust someone they'd only met a few times. A brilliant scientists who everyone adored: the First Commander, my mother, Becca Franco.

"I am the Flame, and the Flame is me," I whispered. When Kane was approaching me, I closed my eyes and allowed her to inhabit my body for the time being and she took over.

Becca

"Hi, sweetie," the man greeted, who I presumed was my daughter's father. I stared at him blankly. "Why aren't you with the other's? Roan?" I leaned in to whisper, "I'm sure she broke up with him."

I pulled back at his sudden gasp and he studied me as I did the same to him. "Becca," he said and I nodded. As I stood, I tied my hair in a ponytail and joined the group. I remembered a few faces like the smart, chestnut-haired girl and the blonde.

"Hi everyone," I greeted with a wide smile. "It's Becca," Kane stated. "As in, Becca Franco?" a man asked. My head tilted and I recognized his face. "Miles Shaw." "You know who I am?" He seemed like a fan of my work so I just shook his hand.

"What are we doing now?" I asked, moving the conversation. "You are the commander, we take orders from you," Clarke said. "I'm no leader, I'm just a scientist who's made a lot of mistakes," I explained. "But I do know that we're supposed to go to the ground and find  Eligius III that never radioed back. They weren't even supposed to go here."

"What does that mean?" Raven asked. "Just some bad feud with the crew members," I said. "But that was two hundred years ago. So... I need equipment: testing tubes, vials, radiation monitors, geo-monitors, and a few other things that I'll think of later. And I think I'll need guards because I don't fight."

"Okay," Bellamy said. "We leave in ten. Raven and Jordan, you're not coming. Also, you, O. Luisa would want you and Lincoln to be in charge. Someone wake up Jackson. Murphy, you're coming along, you're expendable."

I clapped, pushing everyone to move and Clarke stopped in front of me. "Why did she leave you in charge?" she asked. "Without me, this wouldn't be here so she wanted me to help out instead of giving her bits of inspiration." She seemed to take it as an answer and I walked past her and towards the dropship.

Raven handed me a tablet. Bellamy, on the other hand, wanted to give me a backpack but I didn't bother taking it and moved on.

"Luisa," Kane called out. "Becca, I mean." I turned and faced him. "Stay safe." "Will do." I faintly smiled and climbed onto the ship, taking the front seat. I sat as co-pilot with Shaw and he launched the ship.

"We're landing on a moon, by the way," I said as we rumbled in our seats. "Well, why didn't you tell us before?" he asked. "I didn't think it was that important. Besides, we'll survive." "That's what they all say," Emori commented.

I leaned my head back onto the rest as I shook in my seat. We broke through the layers of atmosphere and the ship slowed down in the gravity. I took a deep breath at the beautiful sight of fresh, blue water that crashed against the orange shore. The rings of the planet across the stars were visible in the blue sky and the red suns shined on the land. Of course, there were was a forest and we landed in the trees.

I quickly climbed out of my seat, hearing Bellamy call out for me but I was in a rush to step out. I pulled the lever of the doorway and everyone had raced after me, halting at the exit, taking in the sight.

"If I didn't know the moon was breathable, I wouldn't have sent people here," I stated. "People with nightblood," Jackson pointed out and I nodded. "So, you go first." I looked at my tablet, the radiation levels being good for redbleeders. I stepped out, my boot touching the fresh soil and I placed my hand on the wide bush, the green leaves feeling like any other plant.

"It's good," I told them. "It's good." "We're aliens, great," Murphy muttered, sauntering off the doorstep. The rest came down, just as astonished as I was and I continued to lead the expedition.

I pushed the branches out of my face and I felt someone close behind. It was Roan, who I had to remember was Luisa's ex-lover, and I had to keep it professional. "I'm sorry she dumped you so harshly." "It's hard for me to understand when all I see is her face." "That's the Flame for ya. I didn't really create it for body controlling but it's an AI."

"Water," Jackson pointed out. I withdrew from the conversation and looked afar at the blue body of water. We approached it to start testing but Murphy had already taken off his clothes and hopped in, splashing around. "The water's fine."

"Just look out for a water snake," Clarke warned. "We camp here tonight," I stated. "Jackson, we're gonna do some testing."

----------------------

I had scooped some dry sand into a container and shoved it into a bag along with other tubes. Putting the pack with the rest, I sat at the log in front of the fire. Jackson and Miller were talking a few feet away while the rest of us sat around, quiet. Roan was slouched back, his green eyes reflecting the orange fire, Clarke was leaning forward, taking in the heat, Murphy and Emori were cuddled together, Bellamy on my right, and Echo and Shaw on my left.

"Should we get some sleep?" I asked. No one answered. "How come your daughter's a bitch and you're a sweet angel?" Murphy inquired, drawing his arm from Emori's back. My mouth fell open and slowly closed. "I didn't raise her." "But Kane did, and he's a good person. Just, what happened to her?"

"The hell Murphy?" Bellamy exclaimed. "What?! I'm just asking!" he justified. "We all know she's a raging sociopath, who never got mommy's love and is so spoiled to the point where every time she's kills, it's fine because daddy will forgive her. She only needs daddy's acceptance. She was never gonna get floated when she turned eighteen. Putting her in Skybox was just penance. "You're right," Roan said. "Roan!" Echo snapped. "Why would you say that?" "I'll go on watch."

We both stood and he wandered off to the trees, leaving me to walk the beaches. I listened to the ripples of the water as I tossed pebbles in, watching them skip across before sinking in. When the pebble stopped, I strained my ears to listen for the critters of the night but I couldn't hear anything.

"Jackson?" I called out, returning to the group. "I don't hear insects." He held his breath to listen. "Me neither." I reached for one of the containers and found an alien species, viciously trying to break through the glass. "It was just calm," I said. Just then, a loud buzzing filled my ears and I trailed it to the mass coming from a distance. "It's a swarm! Run!"

"Cover your heads!" Bellamy yelled. We did so, as we began sprinting in the trees. The insects weren't like regular bugs that were attracted to light so I pulled a flare and lit it, knowing it would repel them. "Put them on the corners!" I shouted.

I wasn't a runner but in my daughter's body I was and I took the lead, running out of the trees. I saw a barrier that seemed safe and crossed through. I heard a shout of agony and I turned to see that Shaw was stuck and I finally looked to see it was made out of radiation. The only reason I was able to pass, was because I had black blood running through my veins.

I pulled him out of the contraption, his skin boiling from the immense shock and his body crippled. I knew I couldn't tend to him first because the swarm was approaching the others, about to eat them alive so I chose them. Going to the mainframe, I typed in the Eligius code that broke the barrier, and they ran in, along with a few insects but when I turned it back on, they were shocked to death.

"Shaw," Clarke gasped. I crouched next to him, digging for an adrenaline needle in Jackon's bag, tears swelling in my eyes. "No," Shaw whispered, grabbing my wrist. "Save it." "No!" I cried as Jackson tore it from my strong grip. "It was nice meeting you, Becca," he said. His head turned to Clarke and he added, "Tell Raven that she deserves happiness," before he took his last breath and his body went limp.

My hands fell on my knees and I cried, knowing I could have saved him, but it felt like his death was my fault. That if I hadn't run through, he wouldn't have followed. Jackson pulled me away from his body and I watched as Bellamy and Miller buried him, putting a stake in the ground with his name. We hadn't gotten any sleep as suns broke through the horizon, casting a bright light across the tall field.

"We should continue," Bellamy said, grabbing his pack. I allowed him to take over the group as I stayed in the middle, just following along. "At least she cried," Murphy muttered. "Luisa would've just watched." A different kind of anger filled in me and I curled my fist, knowing I had the strength of my daughter and I threw a punch across his jaw.

"Hey! Becca!" Bellamy shouted at me. "What," I stated. "He deserved it." "I'm sure he did. Just ignore him." I shook it off and we continued the hike up the stairs Emori found and we all halted at the yard that led to a palace.

"So... who are the royals?" Clarke questioned.
