Jotaro: Marriage Counselling

Again, I am SO sorry for the angsty oneshots lmao I love writing them so much, it gives me an opportunity to show how powerful my writing is. I promise I'll give y'all some Joot fluff soon

DIU era, y'all aren't divorced though

You pick up your phone to call your husband at work. The phone rings for a while, and someone finally answers, "This is reception, how can I help?"

"I'd like to speak with Dr. Kujo, I'm his wife," you reply.

"Oh, lovely! You're Y/N, right? I've heard so much about you! Let me put you on now," the friendly receptionist says as she transfers you to his phone.

'Heard so much about me?' you think, until a voice speaks through the phone, "Hello?"

"Hey, it's Y/N. I made a marriage counselling appointment for us today at 6pm, when you get off work."

"We don't need counselling, those therapists just listen to what you have to say then make thousands for it," he grunts.

"I think it'll help our... situation," you frown, "You have to be there, I don't care about work."

"Yare yare, woman. I'll see what I can do," he hangs up the phone.

You put the phone down and turn around to Jolyne, "Jojo, I'm gonna be gone at 7 today, okay? You don't cause any trouble with Grandma. Got it?"

She grins, "I'm gonna see Grandma?! Yaaay!"

You watch her run away into her room, then you whisper, "Stop growing up so fast."

Jolyne is 6 years old, yet she's getting pretty big. I mean, her father is 6'5, so why wouldn't she be tall?

She's also becoming rebellious, just like her dad. Jotaro grew up without a dad, and soon Jolyne might start treating you like he did Holly. It's a scary thought as you've seen how he's treated her back in the 80's. Jotaro was never there for you and Jojo ever since he got that doctorate.

You clean the house until it's 6:00. You welcome Holly into your home where she'll be taking care of Jolyne. You shower then put on a white blouse and black dress pants with a blazer, looking very professional. You head for the building, knowing that Jotaro will probably be there straight from work.

You check into the building and you're guided to a room with a couch that has your husband sitting on one side.

"Welcome, Y/N. Please take a seat," you counsellor says.

You nod and sit apart from Jotaro on the other arm of the couch.

"Okay, I can kind of see tension already due to where you're sitting. Care to explain the situation, Mrs. Kujo?," they take out their notepad and pen.

"Well, lately I've been seeing our daughter, Jolyne, start acting rebellious. She'd refuse to do what she's told and I think that Jotaro's absence is causing that. He wasn't too friendly around his mother while he was growing up without a dad," you explain.

"Dr. Kujo, what about your perspective on this?" the counsellor asks.

"Good grief, I'm always working. Do you even know who I am? I'm travelling constantly to feed my family," he answers.

"What family?!" you chime in, "I've single-handedly been taking care of Jojo since she was a baby! She's growing up so fast and without you, she'll be in prison JUST LIKE Y-" your counsellor cuts you off.

"Okay, it's okay, Mrs. Kujo. Here, we understand each perspective and don't cause more violence."

You rub your forehead, "Yeah, sorry about that."

"It's okay. Now, we're going to do some exercises to get you two back in sync!" your counsellor smiles and clasps their hands together, "When did you two meet?"

"Summer of 1987. She was new in town," Jotaro replies.

"It's awesome that you know that, Dr. Kujo. Now, Y/N, tell me why you fell for him?"

You try to recall old memories, "He was my first friend, and he didn't treat me like he'd treat other women. He used to be so gentle and caring. Naturally, any girl that laid eyes on him fell in love..."

He observes you as your eyes fill up with tears.

"What about you, Dr.?"

"Do you seriously want me to answer that?" he scoffs.

"Well, yes. It's unfair that you hear Y/N's story and not yours. Trust me, the more you speak, the more you two will connect," the counsellor speaks softly.

"Good grief, I didn't know it was gonna be this cheesy. Okay, well, I... I wasn't the best person in high school. I was bullied because I'm not fully Japanese, and I became a delinquent. Everybody liked the fact that I was no good, except Y/N," he replies.

The counsellor smiles, "Now, why is that Mrs. Kujo?"

"Heh, I don't really know. It's just that Jotaro was such a gentle and loving boy that would never intend to hurt anyone, and I didn't want him to harm others. I visited the jail with his mother and... he shot himself....", you say with a shaky voice.

The counsellor gasps, "Dr.! Why did you do that?"

"Really, Y/N?" he groans, "I did that to show them that they should stay away from me. Can't say why, but it was for their own protection."

"I see," they say as they wrote in the notepad, "Next exercise, look each other in the eye and tell them how much you love them."

You turn your head to Jojo's piercing teal eyes. Those eyes that protected you and made you feel safe were now something you wish you can feel again. You break down (BREAKDOWN BREAKDOWN) and bite your lip as tears stream down your face. You're handed a tissue while Jotaro speaks, "I love you more than you know. I know that I'm not a man of words, but seeing you like this... really tears me apart."

You smile softly at his words and continue with yours, "I love you with every fiber of my being, and Jolyne just reminds me of you each day you're not home. I miss the old you, you know? The you that was always there for me."

He looks down in guilt, finally realizing how his absence impacted you.

"I see that you both are finally releasing your real feelings, so I'm going to take a 5 minute leave to let you two talk it out. Remember, violence isn't the answer."

And with that, your counsellor leaves the room. You and Jojo are sitting there in silence.

You feel a soft touch graze your hand, asking for permission to hold it. You look up and see his eyebrows furrowed.

"Hey..." he mutters.

"Hey..." you reply.

He opens his arms out, so you scoot over to hug him awkwardly. You breathe in his scent and begin to melt into his arms.

"I'm sorry," he says softly, "I didn't know that I was hurting you. I'll take a break from work to spend time with you and Jolyne."

You say in between sniffles, "R-Really? You'd do that for us? I'm not complaining... I really missed you."

He laughs softly, "What would I do without my girls?"

You look up at him to share a tender kiss.
