Under The Stars

I just made this up as I went, Idk what I'm doing. See? This is why I need suggestions. Just read this crap and you'll see why.

"Hello." That was the word that started it all, the word that broke the silence between the eight-year-old little girl and the nine-year-old little boy.

She twisted in place with her hands folded behind her back as she tilted her head. He glared up at her with skeptical narrowed eyes as his arms tightened around his injured side.

He didn't reply, only continuing his heated glare.

"I'm Y/n." She told him, "What's your name?" She hadn't seen any other children at the circus yet and she didn't have any friends so she just wanted to talk.

He didn't respond. Maybe she was supposed to glare too?

She narrowed her eyes as a pout formed on her lips and she crossed her arms over her chest.

He blinked in surprise, straightening up before bursting into a fit of laughter.

"Th-that's the best you've got?" He laughed, wiping a tear from his eye and her arms fell back to her sides as she shrugged, "I guess so."

"You have a weird angry face." He informed her as he stuck up his nose.

"You have a weird laugh." She shot back without a beat.

"Touche." He shrugged, pushing himself to his feet and walking past her.

She watched his back with a frown before running up to walk beside him. "You don't like me very much, do you?" She wasn't really asking.

"What gave you that idea?" He smiled sarcastically and she hummed, "Nothing. You just don't."

He rolled his eyes dramatically as he let out a long sigh, "Are you ever gonna go away?"

"I just got here." She stated simply.

"Yeah but I don't want you here. You're weird."

"So are you."

"Exactly, so stop talking to me." He stopped walking and turned to glare at her.

"No, thank you." And she took his hand in hers, "Let's take a walk. The stars are pretty tonight."

"I don't like stars."

"Well I do."

They did walk in silence for a bit until she found a small patch of grass and sat down.

He watched her curiously as his head tilted and she looked up at him. "Aren't you going to sit down?"

He pursed his lips as he glanced around. He looked back down at her skeptically and hesitantly sat beside her.

She offered him a smile and turned to look back up at the twinkling stars. "I like the stars. They make me happy."

He glanced at her and up at the night sky as a streak of light flew across it. His eyes widened as he leaned forward slightly and he heard her giggle.

"Have you never seen a shooting star before?" He looked at her with a frown and she grinned, "My mom says you make a wish when you see one."

He looked down, "My mom says wishes are for babies."

She shrugged, "Your mom is wrong."

He laughed, "You think so?"

"Yup!"

He smiled, looking back up at the sky.

"What did you wish for?" She pulled her knees up to her chest and wrapped her arms around them as she looked at him.

"Dunno. What am I supposed to wish for?"

"I don't think there's any rules."

"Good, I don't like rules."

"Yeah, they get me in trouble."

"...Me too."

A silence dragged on for a little while as the pair leaned back on the grass.

"...I guess the stars are okay."

And they smiled at each other.

Ik this one was short, I'm sorry I really don't know what I'm doing. It sounded like a good idea when I started writing it but then it sorta fell apart, sorry people, I'll try to make the next one better. Ik he wasn't much like he is when he's older, I was just trying to make him a little different when he was a kid idk. Probably failed at that tho. Alright, see ya next time!
