Chapter 2
Intern

Ivy's first day on the job had finally begun and as she lay awake the night beforehand in deep thought all her mind would come back to was wether she would be physically capable of handling the enormity of what this job entails. Sensitive, compassionate, funny and positive would be words her friends would use to describe her and no matter what situation she would find herself in she'd always manage to see the positive side of it even when nobody else could. The only difference now is that she would be experiencing things firsthand, growing up she always knew what her dad done in work and she always admired him for it, she knew everything he to go through everyday, she used to picture it in her head but this was a completely different ballgame, this would be life changing and the main question she continued to ask herself was wether she was cut out for it or not.

Aaron and Hayley where in the kitchen making breakfast before everyone had to leave. Ivy was thankful that she had a family like this, Hayley always treated Ivy as if she was her own daughter and she knew how hard it was for Hayley when Aaron would go to work, relationships are always hard no matter what the circumstances are but when you're husband is absent for that long most days it does begin to strain the relationship.

Ivy walked over to the fridge and poured herself some orange juice, "thank you for making breakfast use didn't have to do that" she spoke.

Aaron gave her a hug as Hayley set the table "how are you feeling about you're first day" Hayley asked.

"I thought I'd feel a lot more nervous then I am but I think I just want to get the first day over with" she said as she made her way over to Jack and gave him a cuddle.

"You'll do great today Ivy don't worry to much about it and I'm there with you so if you need me you know where to find me... just know that I'm very proud of you" Aaron couldn't have been prouder of his daughter for following in his footsteps he just hoped it wouldn't ruin her outlook on life.

Ivy was getting ready for the day ahead as her phone began to ring, "hey Olivia I'm going to put you on speaker so I can continue getting ready"

"Okay it was just a quick call anyway I've to be at work in 20 minutes and I'm not even halfway there... I was just ringing you to say good luck on you're first day you'll be fine you're dad's going to be there anyway if you need anything" Olivia spoke as continued to drive her car.

"Thank you really it means a lot. I don't want you to crash you're car so I'm going to go and finish getting ready and I'll talk to you later. I love you Liv" Ivy hung up the phone before she could reply.

Olivia and Ivy have been friends for as long as they both can remember. Olivia is five years older then Ivy but that never bothered either of them, they used to be inseparable until Ivy went off to university and Olivia got a new job but everyday they spoke on the phone to each other.

The longer it took her dad to drive to the BAU the more nervous she got it's not as if she didn't know these people, she grew up with all of them but she was worried people would have really high expectations for her because of who her dad was but it was clear the minute she seen the others that wasn't the case.

"Look who finally showed up for her first day at work, how you feeling princess" Derek asked as he gave her a hug.

"I'm feeling good I was kind of nervous in the car on the way over here but I'm all good now" she spoke excitedly.

JJ, Elle, Aaron and Gideon were in her dads office and she began to wonder where he was.

"Derek where's Spencer" she asked as he turned and pointed towards the little kitchen in the corner.

"Over there putting all the suger he can find into his coffee" he laughed as Ivy made her way over to him.

"Hey Spence... you really don't need to put that much sugar in it" she laughed as he looked up at her.

"Why does everyone feel the need to comment on how many sugars I take" he huffed as she continued to laugh.

"You do you I guess, what's everyone doing in my dads office" she asked him as he looked over towards Aaron's office.

"I think there talking about a new case we should probably go up and see" he said as they began to walk towards Hotch's office.

"Oh and by the way Ivy good luck today you'll be fine, if em you need anything.." she cut him of from finishing his sentence.

"If I need anything you're always there, yes I know Spence and you're probably the only person I'll actually take up on that offer" she spoke as he smiled.

Spencer and Ivy have always been friends, Ivy is 20 she'll be 21 this year and Spencer just turned 24 so they're the closet in age compared to the rest of the team. Spencer it probably the only person Ivy trusts completely he's always been there for her and she's always been there for him with his mom and anytime he feels like shit really. Spencer's always showed signs that he likes her more then a friend but Ivy's always been afraid it would ruin the friendship so she just pretends not to notice it.

"What's going on" Spencer questioned as pulled out a chair for Ivy to sit on and sat beside her on another.

"Good you're both here the CIA Counter Terrorism Unit is gaged in a mission to save one of it's informants they suspect one of there agents is a mole and until the identity of that mole is discovered they've locked down the unit" Aaron spoke as Gideon continued the conversation.

"That gives us the opportunity to profile the unsub up close" Two side by side pictures of a man came up on the screen.

"John Summers was the CIA's best field agent is the Middle East three nights ago he was found in his home in Washington he'd been tortured and murdered" Aaron spoke as more pictures filled the screen of the murder scene.

"CIA made it look like suicide" Gideon finished as everyone continued to look at the photos filling the screen.

"How would you like to have that job" Spencer asked as Derek got up for his seat.

"Guys look at the wound patterns.. they come from two distinct angles different heights ones right handed ones left handed, looks to me like he was tortured by more than two people" he looked up at Hotch as everyone took in what he had just said.

"What was Summer's working on" Ivy asked her dad.

"Aaliyah Nadier had been beaten and sexually assaulted at the hand of her husband that's how Summer's flipped her and got her to work for the CIA" he answered as JJ began to speak.

"What did the husband think happened to his family" she asked.

"He believed they died is a car crash, only the CIA knew it was staged, up until he was brought to Washington last week under diplomatic cover" Aaron answered.

"Only someone in this unit could have given him that kind of information about his family" Spencer spoke as Aaron continued to speak.

"The trains running and if we stop even for a second Aaliyah and her children are as good as dead" he finished as everyone began to get up from there seats.

Ivy hoped that her first case in the BAU would be a little less demanding as this one but she knew that all of the cases that they get are either life or death.

"Ivy can I talk to you for a minute" Hotch asked.

Everyone left Hotch's office to continue to work on the case, Ivy waited until everyone left until she spoke.

"Okay so what do I do because I can't just stay back here and talk to to you for too long you said time is of the essence" she spoke as she paced the floor.

"I just wanted to say that this case could get a little messy and if you want to start you're internship tomorrow instead I would understand" he spoke quietly as she shot him a serious look.

"Dad I'm not going home if that's what you're suggesting look I understand that I'm you're daughter but in here can you please not act like it, you can't treat me any differently then the rest. I've worked so hard to get to his point and I always knew it would be difficult and yes it's a bit daunting but I'm ready and I'm capable of helping you out so no I'm not going home and starting again tomorrow okay" she finished as Aaron began to walk toward the door.

"Okay Agent go and meet up with Spencer and help him read over everything that the husband has been doing while in Washington" he smiled at her as she began to leave.

"Okay no problem I'll see you later Agent Hotchner" she smiled as she walked away.
