Here's the prologue of a project that I've been working on for a few months now. I'm using the feedback I get from this sample to help me decide if I should publish it or not. So please tell me your opinion on it, it would really help with my decision!

  Prologue

The room was dark. Emptiness echoed through the small room. A lightbulb swung back and forth above a small table and a foldable chair. The silence was broken when the doorknob squeaked and the door opened.

A tall man with short brown hair in a lab coat walked into the room. He walked with caution. He stood in the door way, a clipboard in his left hand.

"I know you're in here 007, We'll start with the basics. Turn on the light." The man said sternly. After a few tense moments, the light bulb over the table flickered. It flickered once or twice but didn't fully light. "You can try more than that." The man stated.

Suddenly another man appeared in the door way.

"Dr. Scott, You're needed in the east wing." The man said.

"Can it wait? I'm busy." Dr. Scott replied.

"No, they're having a problem with 011.." The other man said.

Dr. Scott nodded and left the room with the other man. They shut the door but it was still open just a crack.

??????? POV
He left. I sat in the dark. My knees were to my chest, my head in my hands, my jaw clenched. I don't know how long I've been here. Hours? Days? Weeks? I wouldn't know, I've lost track of time.

I heard footsteps and a door shut. I lifted my head to see a bit of light. It was faint but I could tell that the door was not shut fully. I didn't hesitate to stand up and go to the door. My eyes shut, I took a deep breath. Opening the door up a bit more I looked down the hall to see if anyone was there. The hallway was empty, for now.

I ran...

I ran down the hall as fast as I could. I shivered at the cold touch of the tile floor. I had no shoes but that didn't matter. I kept running. I reached the end of the corridor and peered around the corner. I heard a scream. Many screams.. filled with terror and horror and agony.

I saw a door open, two men dragged out a women. She looked lifeless. All I could see was the tortured look in her eyes. My breath hitched when one of the men looked back. I
turned out of sight from his view. I heard a door shut a  few moments after.

I walked cautiously towards the stairs.

"There she is!" I heard a voice yell. I heard more footsteps coming towards me at a fast pace. I ran down the flights of stairs. I reached the bottom floor of the building. The doctors were close behind me. I closed my eyes and concentrated. As I did, the lights shut off and I felt an electric shock at my finger tips.

I heard a rush of footsteps behind me. I reached the door and turned around. A whole load of doctors and security guards stood around me. A man with white blonde hair stood in the center of them.
"Seven, You don't want to leave. The world is a horrible place. Stay here where it's safe." The white haired man said calmly.

My anger rose as electricity flickered between my finger tips. I felt blood drip down from my nose. I narrowed my eyes and clenched my fist.

The man sighed. He brought out a small girl from behind him. Her head was freshly shaved and she still had that spark of innocence in her eye. The one that I had either lost or never had to begin with. The girl looked at me. She narrowed her eyes and I suddenly saw a desk fly towards me. I ducked and just barely saved my head.

"I'm sorry.." I mumbled before bringing up my hand. The electricity could be seen from my hand, coming off of my finger tips and knuckles in little sparks. I threw my hand and struck of lightning followed it and shot at the group of men. It flew above most of their heads but hit a few. This caused the rest to turn their heads towards the injured men.

I took this chance to escape. I closed my eyes one more time. I concentrated and suddenly glass shattered. The building fell into a blackout. I ran through the door and kept on running. I soon reached an electric fence.
"No problem." I smirked and climbed the fence. The electric shocks were powerless and harmless. I climbed the fence with ease and kept on running.

It felt like I was running for hours. My feet were numb and my head was rushing. I stopped when I heard something in the distance. I hid behind a tree. I saw a light in the darkness. I heard the crunching of leaves getting closer. I sat with my knees to my chest and waited. I closed my eyes and felt someone touch my shoulder. I jolted up and fell into the leaves.

"Oh I'm sorry sweetie. I didn't mean to frighten you." A woman said softly. I couldn't quite see her but her tone was warm and kind.

"Where are Your parents?" I tilted my head at the word.

"Parents?" I mumbled. The woman came closer to me. She held out her hand.

"Come with me, we'll get you something to eat and warm you up. Does that sound nice?" She asked. I nodded my head.

"I'm Tracie, what's your name?" I remained silent. The only name I knew was.... Seven.

"No name? Ok well I'll call you.... Jamie." I smiled at the name.

"I.... like it." I said.

Jamie...
