Link knew he wouldn't see Tracy during the weekend but the first chance he got he'd talk to her and apologize to her.

Link arrived at school later than usually, his hair a little ruffled because he overslept from not getting any sleep during the weekend. Link didn't see Tracy all day until he got to the studio, he saw Tracy talking with Fender and Shelley.

Amber popped up in front of Link's view of Tracy smiling "Link what are you doing its time to get ready".

Link knew it wouldn't be safe to talk to Tracy at the studio especially with Amber and Mrs. Von Tussle there, he'd just have to catch her before she leaves.

Link had a hard time concentrating on the dancing and singing, Link usually loved being on the show, but now he couldn't wait to go off the air and talk to Tracy.

After they were off the air, Tracy went to her desk packing a few of her things when Amber approached her.

Tracy said "Hey Amber".

Amber said "Listen Fatso I don't know who you think you are but if I ever catch you around Link my boyfriend by the way not yours, I will end you in ways you could never imagine. You got that?"

Tracy said "We're only friends".

Amber said "Oh you should be so lucky, its not like Link would see you as anything more than a fat girl who makes all whites embarrassed to be white. For all I know you could be high yellow with all the time you spend with them you might as well be".

Tracy said "I just think everyone's an equal and should be treated the same".

Amber said "Listen there are wannabes and gonnabes you and all your friends are wannabes but people like me who stay on the white tracks are gonnabes".

Link knocked on the door "Come in".

Link walked into Mrs. Von Tussle's office, whom looked up "Oh Link there's something I want to talk to you about".

Link said "Actually there's something I need to talk to you about".

Mrs. Von Tussle said "Continue".

Link suddenly got very nervous, Link didn't know what his decision could do to his future if he'd even have one.

Mrs. Von Tussle said "I'm waiting".

Link took and deep breath and began "I don't think this is gonna work".

Mrs. Von Tussle asked "Think what's gonna work?"

Link said "Me and Amber. Amber- she's too into it, I was okay with a kiss here and there, but I don't love her and I want to break up with her".

Mrs. Von Tussle asked "Well is there someone else?"

Link said "What? No, I don't think so (Link knew if he had even a small chance with Tracy it went down the drain) but what does it matter? I'm just not ready to be in a serious relationship and Amber's taking it too serious".

Mrs. Von Tussle said "I'll talk to her but remember your acting for the cameras".

Link said "I know but even off cameras she's too serious".

Mrs. Von Tussle said "Your famous you never know if the paparazzi follow you to school, home or the studio".

Link said "I know but Amber she's- she's just not my type".

Mrs. Von Tussle said "Fine I will allow you to break your relationship off with her but only if you continue as her partner through The Miss Teenage Hairspray Competition. Okay?"

Link said "Alright but after that me and Amber are done, right?" 

Mrs. Von Tussle said "Right".

Link got up and started to leave, when his hand touched the doorknob Velma began to speak again "On Friday I understand you weren't on the show?"

Link said "Yes, I wasn't".

Mrs. Von Tussle asked "Where were you?"

Link said "I was uh helping my dad clear out the garage".

Mrs. Von Tussle said "Hmm".

Link knew Mrs. Von Tussle didn't believe him but she also didn't call him out on it or demand the truth. But the real question was why didn't she? Mrs. Von Tussle never did anything for anyone else who wasn't Amber.

When Link made it back to the dressing tables Tracy was nowhere to be seen, most of the members had gone home for the day. Link whispered "Where's Tracy?"

Fender whispered "Lou Ann offered her a ride, she seemed in a rush to get away from Amber".

Thursday came quickly and Link still hadn't talked to Tracy. Tracy always looked like she was in a conversation that she enjoyed. 

Thursday night while Link was going to sleep he hoped Tracy would change her mind about going no matter how unfair it was to the rest of them, his first priority was Tracy.
