~ Chapter 39 ~

I paced in the living room as they discussed their 'next mission', their voices sounding quiet vague through the heavy wooden door. I can't be a part of this and I don't think Jack should be doing this either. I mean, he can just rob another bank if money is the matter, and what if he gets caught?!

Riddler went out of the office followed by Jack who smiled at me. An actual genuine smile. Enigma walked to the door and grabbed his cane and Jack went to his room.

"You're leaving?" I asked.

"Actually we're leaving but I have to do some things first, Joker will explain." He smiled before opening the door and stepping out.

A few seconds later Jack stepped out of the room adjusting his coat.

"Where are you going?"

"We were thinking about the whole thing and we decided if we waited he could sell it or trade it or whatever! So! why not strike now?!" Jack smiled.

" Wait like right now?!" I said.

"No not now but tonight we'll come back and tell you the plan, I just have to pick up a few things with Engima." He explained.

"But can we just talk about this, I mean what are we going to do with a jew-"

"Relax doll, we'll be back soon, in the mean time get ready." He spoke as he kissed my forehead and left.

I got dressed and they came around at about 9 PM. I stood up from the couch as they walked into the door. They were talking about something before I cleared my throat.

"Oh hi Eva." Enigma spoke.

"Doll do you know how to drive?" Jack asked.

"Well kinda but it's been a long time since I last did." I answered. I never actually owned a car.

"Good. You're gonna go around the building and leave the gate opened for us, you're just gonna have to attach this on the window, and exit from the opposite route when we give you the signal." Riddler spoke handing me a compressed, round laser cutter and an electronic bracelet.

"Tracker?" I looked up at him.

"Yes and it'll let you know when to move, here." He said handing me a copy of what I assumed was the keys to the gate.

We walked to the garage and all the cars were parked.

"You can chose which car you're more comfortable with it's fine we'll take the other." Jack spoke.

I looked around and saw a motorcycle parked at the other side of the garage. I walked over to it and looked back at them.

"What about this? Does it work?" I asked riding on top of it.

"You know how to drive that?" Riddler questioned me.

"Yeah." I said twisting the key and turning the engine on.

"Hot." Enigma replied earning a hard elbow in the stomach from Jack, and I couldn't help but laugh over the roaring engine.

They gave me directions on how to get back here and which routes not to take.

It was easy, the warehouse was at uptown which was almost close to Wayne Manor. I was to go the normal straight way you would take to get there. But on my way back I had to go through the riverwalk on the edge of town and take another motorcycle waiting for me there and go back to the warehouse. However if the police show up I'm gonna have to lose them first.

I started the engine and rode out of the warehouse. I went past and around Wayne Manor. I parked a few feet away and waited for Enigma's first signal. A few minutes later the bracelet beeped and I walked over to the gate. I took out the key Enigma gave me and unlocked the chains, stepping in.

I moved quietly through the grass and stepped onto the platform by the panorama windows. I pulled out the laser cutter and pressed the button on top before attaching it to the glass. It started cutting through and I ran back to my motorcycle.

I stood by waiting for their signal but it never came. I then started hearing an alarm going out before my bracelet started beeping too. I hopped onto the motorcycle and drove away. I made my way through the bridge and to the upper east side ,before hearing some police sirens in the distance. Crap. A significant vibration came from the bracelet and I looked down at it and it was a message.

'Police coming down through St. Dumas, change route, go behind Amusement Mile and meet us at the warehouse.'

I made a significant turn and made my way towards Uptown. I kept going through different alleys, almost losing track of where I was. I heard the police sirens getting closer and I was almost in a deadlock. To my left was the industrial area and to my right was Crime Alley. Not having much of a decision, I turned to motorcycle and sped to Crime Alley as the noises grew.

I sped as the passage grew tighter as I entered Crime Alley and focused on not running over anyone. It was crowded which was strange. There was a table with some people gathering around and gambling, I took a deep breath and missed them passing so closely to the wall. I heard some cracking as I passed and some glass went through my back tire.

I gripped as the handles harder as I went faster going out of Crime Alley as turning to go behind Uptown. By now the tire was almost flat and I could see Amusement Mile and alley away. I turned the gear harder and went through the alley.

As I was going out I heard a vague noise from my right and , before I could grip the breaks I was flying away from my motorcycle. The impact the car made on my side made me almost pass out before my head hit the pavement

*Joker's POV*

The police were after us, but we left the truck they were tracking and left a little surprise inside before switching cars. We were on our way to the warehouse, we were gonna meet up with Angel and take her home. I couldn't help but worry. I had told Enigma to message her and keep her on track.

We were almost at Amusement Mile when the tracker started beeping and Enigma started fidgeting with it. I looked over at him and he cleared his throat.

"Her bracelet is dead. It's not tracking anymore, we've lost connection." He whispered.

"What do you mean?! Did they get her ?! What was her last location?!" I shouted.

"Right from Amusement Mile, turn there." He spoke.

I stomped my foot on the pedal, going faster. As soon as I made a turn I saw a car speeding away and the motorcycle on the ground. I got out of the car and Eva was scrambled a few feet away. I rushed over to her and pressed my hand to her neck.

"Eva!" I shouted.

"Stay with me Angel!" I said patting her cheek.

"Come on Eva! Come on!!" I whispered.

I pressed my fingers harder and felt a faint pulse. I looked back and saw Riddler out of the car.

"Do you know where we can take her?!" I shouted.

"Yeah come on, we'll take her to my house." He spoke opening the car door for me as I took her bloody, limp body in my arms.

*Riddler's POV*

We've been here for two hours, she still hasn't woken up but she was a mess. Joker refused to take her to the hospital. Her leg was swollen as hell, not to mention the cuts all over her face and body. Oh yeah and a huge f*cking bruise on her side that looks like she at least broke 3 ribs!

"Don't you have some morphine around here?! She's probably in pain!" Joker yelled rummaging through my stuff.

"Well we would've known, if we could just take her to a bloody hospital she would've been up by know!!" I yelled slamming the drawer which he had thrown all of it's insides on the floor.

He grabbed me by my collar and looked as if he was about to kill me before a soft cough came from Eva's lips, followed by several gasps. She opened her eyes struggling against the bed.

"Angel!" He said throwing me away as he released his grip on my collar.

"I-I-I can't move." She stuttered.

She tried to sit up but screamed.

"My ribs! Are they broken?! I can't move my arm and leg!" She yelled.

"Shh-shh it's alright doll don't worry, We'll get you some help." Jack spoke sitting next to her on the bed.

She slightly turned her head to him and strange expressions took over her features.

"W-who a-are you?!" She squished her eyebrows together.

"What do you mean love? I'm Joker you don't remember .. me?!" He trailed.

Realization and horror struck her features as she tried to move away from him but failed.

"P-please don't move away doll, d-d-don't you-u remember me?!" He stuttered moving closer to her as she held onto the nightstand moved her face away from him.

I put my hand on his shoulder before he shot up.

"P-p-please you you m-must remember something!!" He shouted as she shivered.

He was breaking down and right now there was no telling what he would do.

"Joker..let's go outside." I said softly.

"Enigma..?" She whispered and I looked at her before Jack struggled again.

"No! Get off me! Angel look at me! It's-It's Jack!" He continued shouting and got a grab of both of her arms as she began to cry.

"Come on..let's go." I said firmly pulling him back.

"What the f*ck was that?!" He shouted as soon as we got outside.

"She must remember me!!" He continued.

"Calm down! We need to take her to a doctor!" I said.

"No ! Not until she remembers me first!" He shouted trying to get to the door and I held him back.

"She has broken ribs and I just stitched around 12 wounds! Would you rather have her dead?!!!" I yelled at him and he gave in before swearing and sitting on the couch.

*Eva's POV*

I heard them fight outside and couldn't understand what was happening, The Joker is here!! He is very dangerous! I mean he looks scary up close!! And how did Enigma leave Arkham?! How did I end up here?! Where even am I?!

"She must remember me!!!" I heard The Joker growl and I shuddered.

"Calm down! We need to take her to a doctor!" Riddler answered him.

What happened to me?! And why must I remember The Joker?!

Have we ever met before?

Do I even know him?
