~CHAPTER 32~

"Have you ever wanted to cry but
No tears came out so you just
Stare blankly into space
While feeling your heart break into pieces?"
-unknown

In the middle of the night, I was woken up by a bang. Surprised and a tiny bit scared, I went downstairs to see what it was. But when I reached downstairs, no one was there. The living room was completely dark and empty.

I would have gone back to bed and slept thing it was nothing if Samuel didn't hear the same thing either.

"You heard it too?" We both asked at the same time and started to groan at this.

"Not the time!" We again said at the same time.

"You know what Sam? I am turning the lights on," I said as I took the frying pan from the kitchen and went towards the button.

"You don't have to do this," he whispered, following me.

I sighed and replied saying, "I have to," Slowly going towards the light switch, I turned it on.

The lights turned on as everyone started screaming, "SURPRISE!"

I screamed as I hit the person in front of me who just so happened to be Christian.

"Geez woman," he said holding onto his head in pain.

"Sorry Chris," I sheepishly said as I lowered the frying pan down.

"The fuck was that for?" Samuel said as he came forward from behind my back, his hand holding the gun which was on his waistband.

"It's both of your birthday silly!" Aunt Tessa said as she came forward and hugged us both. We both hugged her both and said thank you at the same time, secretly glaring at each other.

"It was kind of funny though," Rocco said as I and Samuel let go of the hug.

"What?" I asked.

"You both talking at the same time like you guys have some twin telepathy," He said laughing. I and Samuel glared at them as all the adults chuckled but for some reason.

"Are you going to ignore the fact that Ari just hit me with a frying pan? It hurts like hell!" Christian whined, still holding onto my head as I laughed.

"Self-defence brother," I replied and shrugged as he glared at me before going back to his room, grumbling something.

So much for him being happy on my and Samuel's birthday.

Oh well. Nothing is going to stop me from being happy today! Well as much as I can be.

After everyone greeted us, we both eventually went to bed after having said good night, well, technically good morning. Just as I was about to close my bedroom tinted lights, someone knocked on the door. Based on how he knocked, I could tell who it was.

"Come in Weston," I said as he entered the room and closed the door behind him.

"How'd you know?" he asked as he sat on my bed.

Chuckling, I replied, "Well, you are not the only one who is observant. From what I observed, you knock exactly three times, Preston knocks once, Alexander knocks once and barges in my room without even letting me reply, Alessandro doesn't even knock, and Samuel does a musical knock before entering while Mom and Dad knock really softly that I can barely hear." W

eston surprised me by chuckling before replying, "Guess you really are observant," he replied.

"Yeah," I replied as we fell into silence. It was not awkward but comfortable.

"So, I wanted to give you something," he finally said, scratching his neck awkwardly as he took something from behind his hand which I didn't notice.

So much for being observant.

He pulled out a small box and handed it to me. I carefully opened the wrapper and box. I gasped as I saw a globe that had a girl running with boys chasing, he and the parents were laughing, sitting on the picnic mat. As I looked closely, I realised that the girl was me and the boys were my brothers. As I shook the globe, flowers and autumn leaves fell and floated. With tears in my eyes, I gently kept it beside me and hugged Weston. "Thank you so much," I mumbled as he softly hugged me back and then whispered. "I love you tesoro," I surprised laugh escaped me as tears started to flow. "I love you too big bro," I replied softly as I let go of the hug and saw a really tiny smile on his face. He tucked me in, gently kissing my head before closing the lights as I slowly fell asleep.

***

Do you know when I said that nothing can make me not happy today? Well, I guess I was wrong.

"Why are we having this ball again?" I asked Mom as she started curling my hair. "Because your dad wanted to introduce the mafia, Donna, and the mafia princess. And what a better day than your 17th birthday right?" she said as she started applying some make-up on my face.

Right now, it was 5 pm in the afternoon and one hour to go to the ball, Mom decided that it was best to dress me up around four hours ago. "Why can't I wear a suit? I already had to wear a dress to your wedding as you wanted me to do it," I whined as she chuckled at my misery. "It's dress code, honey," she said. "Next time, I will make the dress code suits," I grumbled as she chuckled.

"Who is coming to the ball anyway?" I asked as Mom stood me up.

"Well since it is a mafia ball, all our mafia alliances and friends. You will be meeting Weston's best friend as well," she replied.

"Finally," I said as she pushed me into the closet, laughing.

I groaned loudly, then stripped out of my clothes, and after 10 minutes of struggle I wore my navy-blue dress and as I looked in the mirror, for once in ten years, I felt beautiful. My hair was curled and there was a beautiful braid crown thing that mom did with matt red lipstick, blue eyeshadow, and some blush. I stepped out of my closet and looked at Mom, who was wearing a blood-red dress, gasp as she saw how I looked.

"You look beautiful honey," she complimented as I thanked her. Putting on my blue heels, we both headed downstairs.

I saw all my brothers, wearing suits which were all various shades of blue as dad wore a red suit. Guess we were all matching in one way.

"You look beautiful birthday girl," Dad said as he hugged me. I shyly thanked him as everyone else complimented me then we all headed towards the limo and onto the ballroom.

Here we go, I guess.
