CHAPTER SEVEN

— H E A D O V E R H E E L S —

EXITING THE school i realise it was pitch black outside and begin running as fast as i could, i notice car lights and an engine turn on and turn to see the black van.

i push myself to run faster only to see gwen behind me, the van close to her, i switch course and notice the van opening as it approaches gwen.

i run faster towards her, the van and i racing the to girl, i then tackle gwen to the floor as the van passes us, hearing a voice curse before closing the door driving off, i look down at the girl panting.

"you okay?" i wheeze, my voice becoming croaky from pushing myself whilst running.

"i will be once you get off me" she groans, holding her head.

"right" i nod, rolling off her, both of us laying on the floor out of breath.

"what'd you do that for?" she asks, resting on her elbows.

"the black van.. it's almost as if someone was about to grab you, i couldn't let that happen" i mumble looking at the stars above us.

"thank you" she says, the two of us trying to catch our breath, i heard footsteps slapping against the concrete behind us and look to see two familiar figures.

"gwen, y/n!" finney yells, rushing to our sides, "what happened? why are you on the floor? are you okay? are you hurt?"

"finney, calm down it's okay" i tell the boy as he helps up gwen, i lazily sit up at look to see a hand in front of me, robin.

"here, let me help you up" robin sighs, i take his hand as he pulls me up to my feet, "listen y/n-"

"not listening" i tell the boy, brushing myself off before walking again, trying to catch up with finney and gwen who were ahead of us, robin then grabs my arm and yanks me back.

"no, you listen now" he says, looking me dead in the eye, "i'm sorry okay, i was a jerk back then and you were right"

"alright" i shrug, "well, i was also in the wrong, i shouldn't have yelled at you i'm sorry, now can we please go?"

— 🍁

it was now monday and everything was back to normal, i hadn't seen the black van in ages and robin and i are cool again.

it was a lovely autumn day, the sun was shining
and people were laughing chattering, nothing could go wrong!

i saw paper flying towards me and stopped it with my foot, i turn it around to see it was another missing poster, my heart stopped beating for a moment and my whole world crashed around me.

"billy..." i mumble, looking around i hope to see the boy biking around with buddy his dog, to hear the bell of his bike.

nothing.

i was met with the sound of silence, no billy, he was really gone, i look at the photo of billy and sigh sadly.

i place the poster away and continue my walk to school, english first period but this time.. i have no partner.

time passed by slowly during all my lessons to the point where lunch felt five hours away but it eventually came.

i make my way to the others and sit down in my original seat, grabbing my drink to keep hydrated.

"hey y/n are you going to the baseball game tomorrow?" finn asks me, triggering my memory.

"oh! that's tomorrow? yeah i'll be there" i tell him, bruce asked me a while ago if i could make it and i said yes.

"great! what about you robin?" finney asks, turning to the bandana boy.

"i cant sorry, buddy" robin sighs, "let me know how it goes though okay?"

"alright" finney nods, all of us chatting about many things.

after school i wonder around denver bored out of my mind, i find myself entering a comic book store and hum, looking around the place.

my fingers tracing through the shelves before i stop in my tracks noticing a comic i've been trying to find for ages, catwomen.

i smile happily before grabbing my money as i pay for the comic, walking out of the comic book store i begin to walk to grab n go.

i don't know why i was going to grab n go i just felt like it to be totally honest, looking around the streets i didn't notice the figure beside me.

after turning my head to the side slightly i finally notice the shadow coming out from the alleyway and jump slightly.

"hey y/n" robin nods, rubbing his knuckles as he walks out of the shadows.

"robin you scared the crap out of me" i sigh, lightly shoving the boy.

"whoops" he shrugs, laughing slightly as he begins walking by my side.

"what happened?" i ask, signalling to his knuckles which were slightly red and bloody.

"some douche got in my way and tried fighting me" robin scoffs, rolling his eyes as we enter grab n go.

"let's get you cleaned up" i say, grabbing some bandages from the shelf quickly paying before dragging the boy to the disabled toilets.

"it's fine really" he sighs, looking around the room as i turn on the taps causing me to let out a scoff.

"yeah right" i reply, grabbing his wrist before guiding his knuckles under the water.

robin hisses slightly causing me to mumble a small apology, wiping off as much blood as possible carefully.

after wiping off as much blood as possible i gently wrap the bandage around his hand making sure it's not too loose or too tight.

after tying the bandage up i observe his hand before nodding proudly, putting the extra bandages in my bag for the future.

"all done" i smile at the boy who observed his hand too.

"thanks doc" robin smirks opening the door letting me exit first.

"such a gentleman" i sarcastically say, glancing at the boy who rolled his eyes slightly.

"you busy tonight?" robin asks me causing me to turn to the boy with furrowed eyebrows.

"no why?"

"good, follow me" robin grins dragging me to a fence, he looks around before lifting up a loose plank, "go in"

i look at him suspiciously before climbing in, robin following shortly after, i look around to see a small hill, robin signals me up and i look to see we were at the drive in.

the commercials before the movie were playing and robin smiles, laying in the grass on his stomach as he looks ahead, i look around slightly before copying his actions.

"what movie is it?" i ask out of curiosity.

"texas chainsaw massacre" robin beams, i let out a small laugh glancing at the boy who looked over at me, "what?"

"you're like a child on christmas, surely it's not that good" i tell the boy, looking ahead at the screen.

"i'm going to pretend you didn't just say that as the movie is about to start" robin says, music blasting through the speakers.

i cross my arms and rest my chin on top of them, relaxing as i watched the movie which i assumed was a horror.

i watched as the characters got slaughtered, most of the scenes were really intense to the point where my face was going through a rollercoaster of expressions.

robin was beside me smiling as he watched the movie but also laughing at my reactions to some scenes.

i watch as the girl runs up the stairs and jumps out the window, leather face was very close to getting her with his chainsaw, i sit up straight as my eyes widen.

she was running but she wasn't fast enough.

"c'mon!" i whisper yell in frustration, hand over my mouth as i hold my breath for her.

eventually a car was coming towards her and she jumped in the back, leather face almost hitting her with the chainsaw, as they drive away the girl is far away from the killer, laughing as she's covered in blood.

she had finally escaped him and was okay, i let out a long sigh rubbing my temples before turning to robin who was focused on the screen.

"that was traumatising but amazing" i tell the boy who gets up, brushing himself off.

"it was brilliant! definitely my favourite movie now" he smiles, both of us walking down the hill and through the fence.

"i had a great time, thank you robin" i smile, the two of us walking home to get some sleep as the sun had basically set.

"no worries, i really hope they'll be another one soon" robin says, talking about the movie.

"same actually, i don't think i could ever handle something like that in real life, it would be so traumatised being held captive and everything" i sigh, looking up at the moon.

"true, but the way i see it, horror movies are like a survival guide, they teach you how to survive" he says, the two of us finally arriving home.

"that's an interesting way to look at it, i'll see you tomorrow okay?"

"bye" robin waves, walking into his house as i walk into mine
