Suga's POV:

"Thus end our lesson here today," my literature teacher snapped his book shut just as the bell rang.

I walked out of the classroom and down the hallway, greeting underclassmen as I go by. The Karasuno volleyball team became quite famous after we defeated Aoba Josai.

"Whoa, it's Suga-senpai!"

"He's so beautiful!"

"Yeah, look at his hair! And oh my, he just looked at me!"

"Seriously?! Whoa, you're lucky! His eyes are so pretty!"

Whispers and murmurs of complement flutters by as I made my way to the gym to begin another practice session. I kept my smile on until I got out of the building.

"Phew!" I wiped my forehead. "It's quite hard getting through the school without gaining too much attention!"

"I know right?! We're quite famous now...aren't we?"

"Ah! Oh my god, Daichi, you scared me to death!" I turned around, "stop showing up out of nowhere!"

"Haha," Karasuno's captain scratched his head, "oops, my bad. Let's go inside and start the practice, they're probably slacking off since we've recently restored the title of a 'powerhouse'."

"You really think that's the case?" I smiled.

"Yeah...?" We walked towards the gym, Daichi pulled open the door.

Just as he was about to step inside, a volleyball flew to his left, grazed his hair and missed his eye by a few inches.

"Holy shit," I watched my best friend yelled, "okay, no, I take that back!"

"The captain is here!" Nishinoya called, gathering everyone.

I noticed that today was the first day Daichi and I were the last people to arrive at practice; everyone, even Tsukishima, showed up early. Man, if I'm the last one here from walking directly from class to the gym, then they must've been sprinting for their lives to get here before me.

"Ready?" Nishinoya shouted in a loud voice. "One, two, three!"

"Daichi-senpai, Sugawara-senpai, thank you so much for taking good care of us this year. Through the blood, sweat, and tears that we shed (A/N: *cough* BTS reference), we've came to defeat Aoba Josai. Because of your support and love, our team restored the title as a 'powerhouse' and regain the recognition and respect that had been lost for the past years. It has been an extreme honor playing under the name of Karasuno and being lead by you. We appreciate everything you've done for us, and from today on, we will practice harder, run longer, and improve much more than we've ever done before in order to protect the victory and pride you've lead us to. Thank you so much!"

The entire team bowed before us, and I've never felt so touched in my life. I could see Daichi tearing up out of the corner of my eyes.

"No," I nudged the captain, "not today (A/N: *cough* another reference), don't cry, it's a moment to celebrate!"

"Mh..." Daichi nodded, "Minna-san!"

"Yes, captain?"

"From now on, we're train harder than before and instead of becoming the best in our country, we'll be famous worldwide."

"Yes!"

The energy level in the gym suddenly soared higher than ever, and today's practice consisted of high-spirited players and resulted in more quicks and fast combinations as well as strong defense technique.

This is why Daichi is such an amazing captain, I smiled, positive, caring, influential, supportive...

I glanced across the court at my childhood friend who is currently fixing Yamaguchi's bumping technique.

"Suga!" Asahi yelled. "Watch out!"

"Ow," I rubbed my arm, "sorry, I wasn't paying attention."

"No, no, that was my bad. I didn't wait to get your attention before bumping the ball to you," Asahi said, "just glad you're okay because our team would definitely drift apart without you."

"Huh?" I laughed. "I appreciate the praise, but isn't that a bit too extreme?"

"Oh," the giant ace walked towards me, "haha, I guess nobody told you, yet?"

"Told me what?"

"Allow me to speak my mind," Asahi smiled, "but are you and Daichi in love?"

"Huh?!" I jumped back. "I mean, I certainly love him as a childhood friend and stuff..."

"Well, it's quite obvious though," the spiker explained, "apparently Hinata overheard Oikawa from Aoba Josai talking to Nekoma's Kuroo about how you're Daichi's source of energy or something like that. I know it sounds cheesy, but even Kageyama agrees when Hinata told everyone earlier today."

"How so?" I raised an eyebrow.

"Well, remember the time you got injured on the court?"

"Yeah, I just tripped, that's all," I shrugged.

"After you got off the court and getting medical attention, Daichi went into this super intense and dark mood, and he looked like he wanted to kill everyone," Asahi recalled, "it was kind of scary, but the moment you returned, he got all cheerful and sunny again. And remember the time Daichi got hit on the head in a match and Yamaguchi had to step in?"

"Yeah," I thought.

"You weren't in a great mood either," the ace grimaced, "we were all very worried and couldn't focus on the game because both of you are always so intense without each other. Anyways, what I was trying to say is that the captain is very protective of you."

"So..."

"So, that's why I asked if you two were dating," the ace playfully winked at me, "don't worry, if you two are going out, then you should go on a double date with me and Nishinoya sometimes."

"Wait..." I paused him, "you and Nishinoya are dating?!"

"Um...dearest Suga-san, I think the entire team knows about this."

I turned around to see a laughing Daichi, the rest of the team stood behind him, giggling.

"What?! I didn't even know!" I whirled around. "Congrats?"

"Well, we've been together for a while," Nishinoya piped up, "right, my ace?"

"Yes, Yuu," Asahi said, "and what about you and Daichi?"

"Oh," the captain stepped in, "unfortunately, Suga has been very busy with school and college preparation work, so out love life has never been discussed with each other before."

"Aw," Hinata sighed, "that's too bad, I thought they were actually a thing for real!"

"No, you dumbass, they're evidently not," Kageyama smirked.

"You thought they were too!" Hinata countered. "You told me so!"

"No, I didn't," the setter replied.

"Yes, you did!"

"No, did not!"

"Yes, did!"

"Did n-"

My, my they're into it again, I smiled, shipping so hard right now!

"You guys," I stepped between them. "Stop arguing, either way, I feel glad and fortunate that Daichi was able to stay by my side."

"Whoa...what a romantic thing to say!" Hinata's eyes shone. "Ka-ge-ya-ma! Why don't you ever say that to me?!"

"Huh?! Baka, why the hell would I ever say that to you?!"

"But you said you loved me!" Hinata's innocence is radiating.

Oh...I like where this is going~ They're the cutest! I thought. The duo's argument grabbed the entire team's attention once again.

"What?" I could see Kageyama's face turning red. "Why would I do that? When did I even say that to you?"

"You forgot?" the short, orange-haired middle blocker's eyes widened. "You told me so last night! Remember? You climbed through my window and it was really hot and y-"

I stifled a laughter when Kageyama's face turned completely red and instantly covered Hinata's mouth from preventing him to go into the details.

"So how was it?" Tsukishima smirked. "Was Kageyama good?"

"O-oi! Tsukishima!" Kageyama released Hinata and raised his fists.

"Yup! He was really nice! Kageyama's such a nice person once you know him. He was real gentle..."

I watched in amusement as Kageyama failed to stammer out objections; I've never seen him so flustered before.

"Hinata!" the ingenious setter narrowed his eyes. "You wanna die?"

"Ah!" Hinata finally sensed that his life in now in danger. "Oops... no..."

"Hmph..."

"Okay, okay," I clapped, "enough, everyone back to practice!"

However, my grin only widen when I walked by Kageyama and accidentally overheard him grumbling to Hinata.

"Hinata, you dumbass, prepare to not be able to sleep tonight."

Practice finally ended and I waited outside the gym as Daichi locked the doors. Because of the KageHina episode today, practice was extended well past suppertime.

"Hey, Suga, do you want to get some pork buns or something one the way home?" Daichi suggested. "So you can come over to my house directly, we have to work on the project that's due tomorrow."

"Oh right! I totally forgot about that," I exclaimed, "well, today's practice was just so fun, I seriously had no idea Asahi and Nishinoya were a thing."

Daichi walked ahead of me, seemingly lost in thought.

"I'll buy the food, hold up," he said when we arrived at the store.

The pork buns are always delicious after a day of practicing, for some reasons today, Daichi seemed to be quieter than usual, especially after Asahi mistakened us as lovers. Homework and project were quickly finished and we sat in Daichi's room, taking a breather from all the work.

"We'd better get a full score on this one," I said, stretching my arms, "I think it's pretty well delivered. Don't you think so, Daichi?"

I turned to face Daichi, who's staring at the wall.

"Oi, Daichi," I snapped my fingers, "welcome back to Earth!"

"Huh? Oh, sorry, I was thinking about st-" he paused, "I mean, nothing."

"You've been acting weirdly today," I observed, "something wrong?"

"No, not particularly," Daichi never lies to me, "look, there's something I want to ask you."

"Go ahead."

"Remember what Asahi asked us today and how I responded that we've never brought up our love life in our conversations?"

"Yeah..." I thought for a while, "that's actually true though."

"Do you have a love interest, right now?" Daichi leaned forward.

It was my turn to stare. um...I don't know...what's the difference between love and friendship? I thought, I mean...Daichi's the closest person to me right now.

"I don't think so," I ccked my head to the side, "why'd you wanna know?"

"Look...I know you probably will never understand, and you probably might not even want to see me after I say this, but..." he hesitated.

"What could be so bad?" I touched his hand lightly. "We've been together for so long, you know that I can't and will never leave you!"

"How do you know if you love someone?" he asked me.

That's exactly what I was wondering about...

"I mean, I don't know myself..." I started, "but I guess it's when you really want to stay with that person, be by their side every minute, every second. I guess it's when you'd be willing to sacrifice everything for them or to be with them and protect them. Daichi! Why're you crying? Did I say something wrong?! I'm so sorry!"

I watched in panic as droplets of tears glided down Daichi's cheeks, landing softly on the floor.

"No, it's all my fault," the captain said, "I'm sorry...but I'm going to have to end this...this...friendship."

Huh?! What is he talking about?! Is there something I can do to fix it...? I don't' want to end this! I want to be with Daichi...I want to be with him so bad...Wait...according to my own definition...does that mean I...love him? Oh...well...maybe I do...I...should I tell him...? I love...Daichi?

"Daichi!"

"Suga!"

We both called each other's name at the same time, our eyes met and confidence shot through me as I looked into Sawamura's tear-soaked eyes.

Just tell him already, I said to myself, there's nothing to lose.

"You go first," I defied my inner thoughts, still a coward scared by the powers of uncertainty.

"Together?" Daichi implored. "Though we might not say the same thing."

He trailed off. I held his trembling hands.

"Ready?" I copied Nishinoya. "One, two, three."

It doesn't matter what you're going to say. You can tell me you have a girlfriend, it doesn't matter if you're going to reject me. It doesn't matter at all because I know and have faith in you that no matter what happens, we're still best friends. There's nothing to lose...there's nothing to lose.

Pictures of Daichi and me laughing, playing, smiling as young children flashed in the back of my head, reminiscing the past. Images of Daichi and me studying and playing volleyball in middle school burned before my eyes. Every tear-dropping moment had Daichi, every joyful times included him. I wouldn't be here without his protection, his care, his love, him.

I need to tell him, he deserves to know, I took a deep breath.

"I love you," we both said together.

Nishinoya's POV:

Daichi came to practice alone today. He seemed to be very awkward, not his usual self.

"Where's Suga-senpai?" Hinata bounced over.

"Um...he's at home today," Daichi averted his eyes.

"Huh?!" the entire team turned to look at the captain.

"Was he injured yesterday?"

"He seemed fine..."

"Did he get sick?"

"Is he gonna be okay?"

Daichi turned without a word and started walking towards the storage room. I started to get worried since it was getting close to our next tournament. Then I caught a slight pinkness on Daichi's cheek before the captain turned completely around.

Ah! I knew it! I burst out laughing, took them a while to realize it's love.

"So, how'd last night go?" I teased. "Did you have fun? Seems like Suga-senpai isn't here today because you're not as gentle as Kageyama~"

"Oi, senpai! How dare you!" Kageyama said.

"No, Nishinoya-san," Hinata protested, "Kageyama wasn't gentle at all last n-"

"Shut up, you d-dumbass," the setter stumbled, "it...it was your fault."

"Daichi~" I smiled, "you're not responding~ Captain~"

"Ah...eh..." the captain turned around, his face literally redder than tomatoes.

The entire team stared in silence for ten seconds, then we all just started laughing so hard even Tsukishima fell on the floor. Suddenly the doors opened and in stepped the vice captain.

"Ow...Daichi..what's this...? Why aren't they practice?" Suga rubbed his back.

"Your hips..." I nodded, "they hurt, right?"

Instantly, Suga's face flushed just as red as Daichi's.

"They...know?" he turned to the captain.

"Well...apparently," he facepalmed.

"Yay! Finally!" Hinata started taking a big step to jump around. "Oh...ouch, that hurts. Kageyama, you kinda...really overdid it last night."

"Oi...are you okay?" seeing the short blocker's face scrunched up in pain, Kageyama quickly rushed to his side. "ah...I mean...you'd better be okay! It'd be much better if Oikawa's serve hits you...not me."

"To be honest," I started, "we've pretty much been waiting for the day you guys get together."

"Why?"

"I mean...now that you are a thing, doesn't it feel like an actual family?" I shrugged. "Daichi's the dad and you're the mom."

"Mhm..." Asahi place a hand on my shoulder, "congrats."

"Recognizing and accepting it..." I smiled, "can be quite difficult sometimes. I'm glad both of you came to understand the feeling of love."

"The person who truly loves you will never stop believing in you and will never let you go, no matter how hard the situation is."
