Rosa's POV

*

"Leo!" I gasped as my eyes flew open and I frantically looked around, realizing I was in our matrimonial bedroom, formerly Gonzalo's bedroom. Gonzalo was speaking to an elderly man with a black box and they were far from the bed.

The events from the company passed before my eyes like a blip and I flinched, my eyes widening.

Leo was kidnapped from his school's end of the year party.

Immediately I sat up, Gonzalo walked over and sat beside me, placing both hands on my shoulders as he pulled me in for a hug.

"You scared me." He said while pulling away and searching my eyes.

"Leo? Where's Leo? I want to see my brother. They said he got kidnapped-" I tried to pull away, my chest hurting as I realized my little brother still wasn't here yet. He was in the hands of the enemy. Anything could go wrong. I wouldn't be able to live with myself if anything happened to him.

Had I known this would happen, I wouldn't have let him go to the party.

"Calm down Rosa. We're tracking him down right now. We've gotten the images of the said vans from the CCTV camera in front of the school and we're tracking their locations as we speak."

"Who did this? Why would they come for him? Why him, Gonzalo? It should've been me. I'm the older sibling, I'm the one they should be after." I sobbed, my eyes stinging with more tears than I had the strength to shed.

Gonzalo gave me a stern look. "Don't talk nonsense, baby. We will find him. And very soon." He assured me.

With trembling shoulders, I pulled him into me and hugged him, sobbing in pain. I wished I could do something. I didn't want to be so helpless, sitting here and crying all day when I could be pulling strings like I knew Gonzalo was currently doing.

After I calmed down a little, Gonzalo stole a quick glance over his shoulder and I eyed the man who was looking elsewhere, a hand in his pocket while the other one gripped the black box case handle tightly.

Gonzalo pulled away and walked over to him. He told the man something in a tone so low I almost wouldn't have believed they were conversing if I didn't stare intently at his lips.

The man replied and they spoke for a bit before they shook hands and he left.

I tried to get out of bed but Gonzalo stopped me. "You're a bit weak at the moment and haven't had anything to eat except the oatmeal from this morning. You should rest a little so you won't faint again."

I shook my head. "I want to help. Take me to the tech room so I can at least do a follow-up. I might have some inputs to add." I said desperately.

Gonzalo shut his eyes for a brief moment, massaging the bridge of his nose. Then he looked up a me again and shook his head, giving me a look that said 'you don't know what you're talking about.'

"We can't do it that way, Rosa. Please listen to me just this once and don't try to fight me on this. You need proper rest. I don't want to worry more about you than I already do because I want my full concentration to be on finding my brother-in-law. Also, you need to take care of Greta. Leo stays with her most of the time and now that he's not here, she'll definitely panic. We can't have that. I'll tell her nanny yo bring Greta here. Try and distract her because she already asked me where Leo is and I know she'll probably ask you as well." He pecked my forehead and patted my hands which I'd clenched together, then left the room.

My eyes brimmed with fresh tears and I bit my lower lip, feeling the sting and sudden taste of my blood spread over the seam of my lips.

"Leo, where are you? Are you okay? Don't be scared." I whispered, my throat tight with pain and fear. He wasn't safe.

He wasn't at home with us.

Where was he?

The ringing of my phone had me looking sideways as I fished inside my bag for the device.

I heaved a heavy sigh at the sight of another unknown number calling.

I should decline it. My thumb hovered over the decline option on my screen but I halted for the moment, the wheels spinning in my head. What if it was someone that could give me an information about Leo?

Or what if it was Leo? I knew it was stupid but I couldn't overrule the fact that he might've been allowed to call me. Maybe the kidnappers told him to give me a call and demand a ransom.

Wiping my tears and clearing my throat, I picked the call.

"Hello?" I cleared my throat again.

"Ah. The sister-in-law. It's been a while, my beautiful sister in-law. How have you been?"

The sound of that voice made cold dread wash over me. T-that was Gonzalo's brother. I didn't know his name since he never mentioned it and Gonzalo also never mentioned it.

Why was he calling me? Was he the one that kidnapped Leo?

My tongue swept over the side of my lower lip where a trickle of blood had gathered once again and I blinked. "What do you want?" I asked.

"Oh. Don't be so hostile to me. We're family, aren't we?" He chuckled. The sound alone sent dread through me. "Now answer my question or else I won't tell you the juicy information I have for you. How are you?" He repeated.

Anticipation bloomed inside me and I sat up, suddenly gathering strength from where I had no idea. I had to be patient because whatever information he had for me might be important for Leo's sake.

"I-im fine." I whispered, my grip on my phone tightening as my hand trembled.

"That's better. Now I heard you've caused commotion at your workplace, screaming down the place because... what did they say again? Ahh, I remember now. They said your brother went missing. Something like that."

My eyes widened. He was the one that kidnapped Leonardo!

Bastard!

"How do you know that? Did you send them-"

"Shh. You're quite loud. I wonder if you're this loud in bed." He chuckled again and I reddened in anger. "Oh, why so quiet? Don't be upset. You see, I need something from you. And you need to give me it, in exchange for your sweet but smart mouth brother. I'll call you again, but make sure you're alone to receive my call."

"Give me back my brother, please. I'll do anything..." I pleaded desperately, my left hand clutching the bedsheet as I gritted my teeth in helplessness.

"Of course you would, you sexy redhead. Don't make promises you can't keep, though, because I might just take you up on your offer. Also, I have to warn you. If Gonzalo gets a wind of this conversation, or tries to make any move against me just know your brother's head will be sent to you in a box within hours."

My heart shattered at his words and I made a mental note to think and then rethink my decisions properly before making any move. If telling Gonzalo would make me lose Leo, then I better keep my mouth shut to save my baby brother.

"Can I at least hear his voice-" the beeping sound was what greeted my ears next and I blinked, panicking. "Hello? Hello?" I looked down at my screen even though I wasn't daft enough to think he was still on the call.

My hand fell to my side as my eyes brimmed with tears. I quickly checked my call logs but all I saw was 'hidden number' which shattered all my hopes immediately.

A shaky breath escaped my lips as I realized my assumptions were right after all. It was indeed someone I knew that had kidnapped Leo.

What could he possibly want from me?  I was already married to Gonzalo so it wasn't like he could also marry me for himself. Or did he want to have sex with me?

Goosebumps pimpled my skin at the thought and I swallowed thickly. He did make some sexual comments earlier on. I would die before sleeping with such a bastard.

I would have to be brave though, in order to get Leo out of this mess.

Greta was brought to me and I played with her, doing my best to distract her with games because everytime she looked up at me as we played, she would ask me, "where is Leo?"

And I had not truthful answer to give.

In the twenty four hours that followed, I didn't get any calls or texts from Gonzalo's brother, which made me frantic because I needed to do something. I needed to get Leo out of his possession.

But on the evening of the second day, I received another call just as I finished putting on my clothes after showering.

"Hello?" I let out in one breath.

"Well someone is eager to hear my voice, it seems." He chuckled. My grip on my phone tightened again as I restrained from raining questions and curses at him but I sat still, knowing the life of my brother was in his hands. If he could successfully orchestrate the accident that made me and Gonzalo land in the hospital few months ago, then he was sure ruthless and I couldn't dare to upset him.

"You didn't call me to- how is my brother? What do you need me to do? When can I see him?" I asked, feeling upset that I was begging the enemy with such desperation but knowing it was important to do so because Leo's life was on the line.

"Now listen to me. I won't repeat myself." He said and started speaking.

I listened carefully, even though he ended up repeating the instructions twice.

I felt my blood running cold with each word he spoke and I wondered if there could've been another way to go about it.

But as he finished speaking, he said, "be prepared for the time you'll do it. And make sure my little brother doesn't suspect us. If not, even I won't be able to help you here."

And then he ended the call.

I paused for a moment, pondering over his words. Was someone else involved in this? What did he need the files for and why did I have to do what he asked me to do when he could've asked someone at the company to do it? I couldn't possibly be his last resort, except...

I quickly got to action, sneaking into Gonzalo's study as I made sure no one noticed me. I shut the door softly and walked over to his desk, turning on his laptop.

He would come up into our room in a bit and if he didn't find me, my cover might be blown. I needed to hurry. Opening the folder, I got to work.

When I was done, I tidied up and casually walked up the stairs so no one would be suspicious of my movements.

Then I got into the room, calling Greta's maid to come over and carry her over to my former room.

I walked over to the mirror and had a good look at myself, turning around and trying to smile as my gaze fell on my face and beautiful porcelain skin. I looked deeply into my eyes and tried to hide the sadness and despair in them, knowing I needed to be strong and not let the situation of things pull me down.

"You're a good sister, Rosa. You're doing the right thing even though it'll cost you your...you're doing the right thing." I told myself sternly and oiled my scalp before applying some drops of my perfume oil.

Gonzalo didn't like perfumes because he said they sometimes made him feel too nauseous whenever people used lots of it but he said he liked the smell of this particular perfume oil on me and I made sure not to use too much of it.

I walked over to the bed and lied down, preparing to give my husband one last good sex before my mission began.

I palmed my right breast, trying not to give in the the quivering of my brows as I prayed everything would be worth it in the end.

What do you think he wants her to do?

Do you think Rosa will betray Gonzalo and switch sides over to the enemy? Or maybe she won't? Or maybe she already has?

Do you think Leo is still alive or safe? Even I am not sure at this point 🥺🥺

Tell me your thoughts. I love knowing them. ❤️
