60| The beginning

Diana had used a portkey to get to Shaftesbury Avenue where she witnessed her friends almost get crushed by a bus if they hadn't moved back. The three disappeared behind an alleyway, Diana followed after them.

Diana made it to her friends, hearing Ron say "you're amazing, you are". Diana missed them to a point where hearing one of their voices instantly brightened her mood. "Always a tone of surprise" Diana said, knowing that's what Hermione was thinking.

The trio turned around to Diana Bennett standing in front of them. "Diana?" Ron asked, "The one and only" she replied. Ron instantly hugging the girl. "You found us" he smiled, "I promised that I would" Diana said, a smile forming on her face.

"Move, Ronald. I want to hug my best friend" Hermione said and handed him her bag, as she instantly pulled Diana into a hug. "I'm so glad you decided to join us" Hermione said, Diana unable to respond as Hermione was practically suffocating her in the hug.

When Hermione pulled away, Diana caught her breath before hugging Harry. The two had a unspoken mutual agreement that they had broken up. Mainly due to the fact that with the whole Horcrux hunting and upcoming war, they didn't think it was best to stay together.

"She's not made out of glass" Hermione laughed as Harry didn't hug Diana. "We are okay with the pda" Ron shook his head and laughed, the two not aware of the break up.

Diana hugged Harry, seeing as she knew he wouldn't hug her. Although he refused to say it, that hug was the highlight of his day, if not year.

The four found themselves in a cafe. "What about all the people at the wedding?" Diana asked after having been explained the Death Eater attack and why they were back in muggle London. "We don't know. I assume they are underground and into hiding" Hermione answered.

"Shouldn't we go back for them?" Harry suggested. "Are you kidding? We barely escaped the first time and you want to go for round two? Beside, they are after you. We'll be dragging danger with us and to those we care for if we go back" Ron told Harry.

The waitress walked up to them, the woman had her earbuds in and was rather annoyed at the four teenager's lack of response. "Can I have a cappuccino" Hermione said, the waitress nodded and turned to Diana, "you?" she asked. "Vanilla latte" Diana said, the waitress nodded and turned to Harry and Ron.

"Same as her" Ron said, "same" Harry mumbled. The waitress nodded and walked away afterwards. "Where do we go from here? Leaky Cauldron?" Ron suggested. "It's too dangerous, like you said, wherever we go we'll be dragging some sort of danger with us. We need to be carful" Diana said, to which Hermione nodded.

"There is no theoretical safe place" Harry told Diana and Hermione, shifting his gaze towards the bushy haired girl. "Besides, I've left all my belonging at the Burrow" he said, Hermione shook her head and subtly signaled to her purse. "You're joking" Harry said stunned, "I've had all the essentials packed for weeks, just in case" Hermione replied.

Hermione noticed Diana's bag, "you've done the same?" Hermione asked. "Learned from the best" Diana smiled, to which Hermione smiled back. Diana all of a sudden heard the two men who had walked into the cafe mumbling "that's them". All thanks to her weirdly activated vampire hearing.

"Get down!" Diana said as she saw one man pull his wand out. Hermione, Ron, Harry, and Diana practically threw themselves on the ground, as their table had just exploded from the spell. Harry had wrapped his arms around Diana protectivally, out of instinct, making sure she didn't hit her head on the ground.

Immediately standing up afterwards, Harry shot spells back at the two guys. Ron and Hermione doing the same until the counter of the cafe looked like a full blown robbery occurred. Diana hadn't had her wand on her, she had put it in her bag which was no across the room. "Icaeus" Diana said with a hand swift hand movement, as she had perfected her magic. One of the guys flew back with that spell and was knocked unconscious instantly.

"I forgot you could do that" Ron mumbled as he saw how much more powerful Diana had become over the past few months. "petrificus totalus!" Hermione said and blasted the second guy back, on top of the already passed out guy.

The waitress then walked out and looked around. "Go" Hermione muttered. "Leave!' she shouted at the waitress who left instantly. "Get the lights" Harry told Ron, who used his Deluminator given to him by Dumbledore to take the light from the coffee shop while Hermione and Diana closed the blinds.

Diana heard Ron mumble the words "kill him? He'd do the same to us if it were the other way around". "Ron" Hermione exclaimed calmly. "He's a killer. Suppose he killed Mad-Eye, what would we do then?" Ron asked. Hermione didn't answer.

"We can't go leaving a trail of bodies of everyone who attacks us. Trust me, It never ends well. It's best if we wipe their memories instead" Diana told Ron, but also Harry and Hermione who were standing beside her.

Ron thought about it for a moment, remembering when Diana had told him about Stefan's ripper days and how he and Klaus left a trail of bodies behind, he also knew how Diana felt about killing. He nodded and then stepped back.

"Mione" Diana said, Hermione turning to face the girl. "You're the best at spells. Best you do it" Ron said. Hermione nodded and walked forward, two the two knocked out bodies. "Oblivate" Hermione said and aimed her wand at the first guy, then the next.

"How would they have found us? Or, should I say, you" Hermione asked. "Maybe they still have the trace on me?" Harry thought, Ron shook his head, "can't be. Trace breaks once a witch or wizard turns seventeen".

Hermione coming then to a realization gasp slightly. "What is it?" Diana asked, "we didn't celebrate Harry's birthday" Hermione remembered. "Ginny and I baked you a cake. We were going to bring it out at the end of the wedding" Hermione told Harry.

"Hermione, as much as I love the thought put into it, given the fact that we were almost killed by Death Eaters a couple minutes ago I say my birthday is not top priority" Harry told Hermione, who nodded a slight frown forming on her face.

She then stopped walking and face palmed. "Now what is it?" Ron asked. "I forgot to send you a letter and gift for your birthday" Hermione told Diana. "I am a terrible birthday friend" Hermione sighed.

"It's alright, Hermione. I really don't care. Besides it only would have mad me more upset" Diana said. "Upset? Why?" Harry asked, Diana shook her head, "not important" she lied as she didn't want her friend's pity.

She could have told them about her mother's death back in the Astronomy Tower months ago but chose not to, brining it up now would be selfish... or at least that's what she kept telling herself.

"We need to get off the streets and get someone safe" Ron told his friends. The only place they could think of was 12 Grimmauld Place. It was odd being back there. It looked abandoned, seeing as it was.

That night Diana had an uneasy feeling. She tried pushing it aside but it was beginning to overwhelm her. She stood up from the couch she had been sleeping on, trying not to step on Ron or Harry who had decided to sleep on the ground so the girls got a bit more comfort.

She walked up the steps and passed by Sirius's room, remembering that he was still alive and in hiding while also being invisible thanks to her spell. She was passing by a few more rooms when she saw one with the name Regulus Arcturus Black. 'R. A. B? This must be Sirius's younger brother. He must have been the one to stole the real Horcrux' Diana thought.
