Failed Assassination. Ayato

Sitting down at your office desk, you stared tiredly at the huge file of documents waiting for you to sign. To run this fucking guild, you thought.

Despite the bright colours of the Inazuman scenery, your world was covered in grey.

Escaping your horrific childhood, you ran away from home at an early age. The years spent on the streets were tough, but you have made some comrades along the way.

And after a past run-in with a gang leader terrorizing your territory, you challenged him in a duel, which you barely won, sustaining a few life threatening injuries. Naturally, you became feared as the new lord of the underworld, current leader of the highest gang in all the region.

Along with your close comrades, you rule the underworld with fear, death threats were all you've known in life.

Your guild was known for its privacy and top service for illegal transactions. Assassination attempts are merely an agreed deal between two parties. Weapon exportation were the norms.

Just as you were busy scanning documents, a knock arrived at the door.

"Come in."

A close subordinate of yours stepped in, bowed and informed.

"A member of the Tanaka clan wishes to speak to you, Your Grace. It seems as though the information they carry are highly confidential."

You scrunched your face in confusion.

"Let one of the others handle it."

"Your Grace, they have specifically called for you. They threaten to cut ties with Your Leadership for the sea trade if you were to decline their visit."

You scowled. Ungrateful brats.

"Show me where they are."

"Yes, Your Grace."

................................................................................................................................................................

Stomping towards the guest waiting room, you growled. Idiot nobles.

An informant cried out as you reached the door.

"Her Grace, The-"

Before he could finish you barged into the room, slamming the door open. Everyone was shocked except the one man who is sitting smoothly on the couch, sipping on tea.

He slyly opened his eyes and greeted you with the fakest smile you have ever seen.

"Well, isn't it the great lord of the underground. I am delighted to know that you have taken precious time out of your day to see me."

Your coat flew wildly as you marched and slouched down on the couch. You glared at the man. No one would believe that this is the same man who had threaten to demolish all relationship between your gang and the sea harbours.

"Tsk! Get to the point. What the fuck do you want now?"

You downed the glass of whiskey set out in front of you. He, on the other hand showed no need of urgency.

"Hmm, look like the Great lord is getting a little impatient. Fine I'll get to the point, but first please..."

He motioned towards your guards at the end of the couch. You swiftly raised your hand, pardoning the guards from their posts. Once they left the room, it was only you and him.

"Go on."

He produced a case file from the breast pocket of his coat. You noticed it was a information booklet.

You read the name on top. Kamisato Ayato.

The current head of the Kamisato clan and Yashiro Commissioner. A rival clan family of the Tanaka.

He smiled.

"I guess you know what i want. Hmm?"

Scrolling through, you read the information. Basic stuff. Birthday...Hobbies....Family....Occupation....

Putting down the booklet, you glanced at him.

"What are the negotiation?"

"Simple. I receive his title and the downfall of the Kamisato clan and you will receive all the wealth Inazuma has to offer."

You scoffed.

"You seem to look down on the guild. We aren't poor enough for that."

"Only joking, no need for such harshness."

He mischievously smiled.

"I heard your biological parents are currently hiding within the Kamisato territory and making a pretty comfortable living there."

"Don't you dare mention them."

He backed away mockingly with two hands raised in defeat.

Memories flashed back within your body. The pain. The bruises. The screaming and crying. The house of horror. Those monsters don't deserve an ounce of dignity. You could imagine squeezing the life out of them the same way they had done to you. However, they had annoyingly relocated to an unknown area before you can lay your hand on them.

The Kamisato territory...

The one area your shadows can not reach.

Seeing the interest growing in your eyes, he continued.

"Sad that you can not access that region while he's in power. But....if i were the one sitting in that seat, imagine the freedom you would have. Nowhere will be too wide for you..."

Snapping back to reality, you considered your options.

It was standard protocol to accept requests of clients as long as it is not too much. An assassination was nothing out of the ordinary.

You reach out your hand for a handshake. He returned it with a wide smile.

"Seems like we reached a shared conclusion."

As your rude client left, one of your closest and trusted comrade walked in.

He sat opposite you on the couch.

"Can't believe the nerve of that guy. The Tanaka really have some sort of arrogance in their veins."

He observe the booklet you were holding.

"What. Another assassination? Kind of an exaggeration to give it directly to you."

"Tone it down, Alex. The walls have ears. Everyone work equal amount here."

Alex scoffed but didn't argue further.

"So....who are you dispatching this time? Don't say my quarter, I'm burned out from that chase earlier."

You remembered. Alex practically broke his legs running after a rival gang member. You shook your head in disappointment, shame on the guild for such weak training.

"No worries for you then. I'm going there myself."

Alex stared in shock.

"You....?"

You raised your eyebrow.

"Think i can't do it?"

"No? How dare i think such a thing but you're going alone....?"

You marched out of the room with new burning passion in your eyes.

"I got a personal score to settle."

*At the Kamisato estate*

Sitting down at his main office, a beautiful man was enjoying the nice afternoon breeze. His light blue hair gently flowing with the wind, his white suit covering the ground nearby him. The sound of pen against paper were heard as he focused on his work.

A gentle knock.

"My lord, I have received recent reports on the suspicious movement of the Tanaka clan."

Thoma walked into the room, bowed and gave his master a booklet.

"Thank you, Thoma."

Thoma continued to inform him of the details as his lord read through the information.

"It is stated that the Tanaka clan have recently came into contact with the Lord of the underground ring, exchanging some sort of deal."

Ayato smiled at the details. Hmm, I bet that brat is claiming a bounty over my head.

Scanning through, Ayato stopped at the picture of your face. Not bad, he thought.

"Tell me more about this boss."

Ayato pointed at your face.

"Her name is Y/N L/N, current leader of the Nakamura gang. She rose to power after the death of the past head. Rumours has it that she was abused as a child and is mastermind behind the Drug trafficking scandal a few years back."

Interesting. To think that Tanaka idiot actually sent a gang boss after me instead of an ordinary assassin. I'm quite honored.

It's been a while since anything intriguing happened in his life anyway.

Ayato motioned at Thoma.

"Lift the access restriction of the region. We are due for some guests."

Thoma blinked.

"Are you sure? Your security will be put in danger, my lord."

Ayato shrugged nonchalantly.

"It won't be anything serious, Thoma. If you want to catch the fish, you have to draw the bait."

Thoma nodded in agreement and left.

Ayato smirked at the picture one last time.

Fine, Y/N L/N. Let the games begin.

................................................................................................................................................................

You stared at the gate of the Kamisato territory from afar.

You held your weapon tightly, it was the day of the assassination.

The first defense was the guards standing right outside the gates. It wasn't long until all of them were spread out in the dirt, barely conscious. That was suspiciously too easy for you...

Ventured on, you jumped from rooftop to rooftop, making sure to not be seen by the common folks. He should be here soon, it was the day of his daily examination of the region.

Children laughed as they make their way through the streets, people dancing and singing in delight. A scene worthy to remember.

Observing the surrounding for a few minutes, people eventually cried out.

"The Great master Kamisato Ayato. Thank you for your service!"

You glanced at the direction of the people. Out came a handsome man, befitting of his position as head of the region. Ayato smiled and waved at the people, chatting happily with the children.

Strangely, he only had a guard with him. Perhaps you were so used to the extravagance of nobles like Tanaka, who always flaunt their wealth by being surrounded by many guards that you lost the sense of reality.

As he continued his way, you followed close by waiting for the perfect moment to strike.

Huh? Why is he walking towards a dark alleyway?

................................................................................................................................................................

Ayato's POV

Acting ignorant was my specialty. Only a fool would not feel the presence of an assassin nearby.

He smiled, knowing that Y/N was clearly stalking him from above the rooftops.

Not going to lie, she looked pretty in person than on paper.

Thoma had argued with Ayato that morning about the lack of guards who would follow him on his trip. Luckily, Ayato had the final say in things and compromised with Thoma to bring one guard. He had a plan to execute and the numbers of guards following him around would only put a dent in it.

I made my way towards a dark alleyway, one that was barely used and which i know we would have some privacy to talk.

"My lord, are you sure to be here?"

The guard nervously looked around.

Ayato answered coldly.

"Turn around."

"Huh....?"

Before the guard realised it, Ayato had strike him unconscious.

................................................................................................................................................................

What....?

Ayato had knocked his only guard unconscious in the alleyway.

You jumped down from the rooftop, expecting to finish your business once and for all.

There, however, you were met face to face with the man himself, standing above his unconscious guard.

He smiled nicely at you as if he was expecting your arrival.

"Ahh....must you be the infamous lord of the underworld? I've heard quite the stories about you, and I must admit you're very intriguing."

You stared at the man in caution. What the....?

Drawing your weapon out, you prepared for a fight.

"How do you know about me?"

Ayato continued smiling.

"Wasn't that hard to guess. Then you must have been sent here to murder me. Correct?"

You froze.

You could feel it in your veins. This man was dangerous.

"I'll take that as a yes."

He revealed his own sword.

"Then let us clash our swords. I want to see if the rumours were all exaggerations."

You growled at him. Launching yourself forward, you swung your sword.

Ayato only smirked as he successfully deflects your blade, sending you flying backwards against the wall.

You got up quickly and continued to strike. The two swords clash against each other, fighting for dominance.

At one time, you were almost able to push down on him, only for him to overpower you.

The short fight ended with you struggling to breathe as Ayato stand proud.

This man was a power beyond what you have encountered before.

Slowly walking towards you, Ayato gave a menacing smile and activated his vision, a swarm of water surrounding you.

Slowly, the water closed in, suffocating you to the point of blacking out.

The trauma set in as you saw your childhood memories rush back. The rope strangling your neck.

Slowly, you felt your limps weaken and your vision blurring.

All while Ayato stared down on you.
.............................................................

The dreams of being pushed around like an animal, treated like dirt, was painful. You could barely contain your emotions.

"NO!"

You screamed. Your consciousness came back as you became aware of your surroundings.

The bedsheets, the furniture....you stared around until you spotted a symbol.

The Kamisato.

You panicked and race to your sword. Running out and down the hallways.

Just as you make it to the backyard, a bunch of guards stopped you.

"Stay back! You're committing a crime by illegal trespassing!"

You showed your own blade in defiance.

A soothing voice of a man interrupted you.

"Now, now, this is not the time to fight."

You whipped your head around.

Ayato smiled back at you.

He motioned to the guards.

"That's not how you treat a guest."

The guards bowed in apology.

"Come with me. We got stuff to do."

"I'm not going anywhere with you."

"That's an order, not a request."

"I will fight my way out."

"Not like that. Come nicely, and I'll treat you with respect. I don't like to use the harsh way."

"My gang will avenge me and get me out of here."

Ayato looked at you bored.

"The Nakamura? You can forget about that. They can't step a foot in my territory without their life hanging by a thread, and we know that. So the sooner you talk to me, the sooner you can return."

You scowled. Arrogant man.

Reaching his office was a hell of a trip. You hated the fact that you were obediently following someone.

Ayato sat down on his seat and motioned for you to sit opposite him.

"So? Let me guess, the Tanaka sent you here."

"If you know why bother asking?"

"What do you get in return for my death? Money? Land? Fame?"

You glared darkly.

"I have no obligation to answer that."

Ayato hummed.

"Now you do. The magic restraint on your neck is enough."

You tranced your neck. A faint feeling triggered your fingers.

You angrily retorted.

"Remove it this instant!"

"I apologise, but this is a standard protocol for all offenders in the region."

He clasped his hands together.

"Well? You're making this difficult for yourself. Why?"

Your lips trembled. How embarrassing. If anyone saw the great lord like this, your reputation would be dragged through the dirt.

You hesitantly revealed the deal.

"My parents are currently hiding out here. I need to find them."

Ayato rubbed his chin.

"Tell me their names. I'll see the register."

You stared.

"You would do that for me? But I tried to kill you for a deal?"

Ayato shrugged calmly.

"I mean, like, as the Lord, I have to keep my citizens safe from harm."

You could clearly spot the irony.

"Cut the crap and tell me honestly."

"Fine."

Ayato whipped your chin up.

"It's been a long time since I felt such excitement in this bore of a place. Don't mind putting a little fuel to the fire."

"Don't you want to know why I asked for my parents?"

"I assumed you have some sort of vendetta against them."

This man must be psychic.

He pulled up what you guessed was the register of all the citizens residing in the territory.

"So? Name?"

You replied.

"D/N and M/N L/N."

Ayato frowned at the register.

"Not ringing a bell. There's no one here with that name."

"They must have changed their names."

Ayato put down his glasses.

"That's not possible. Only the lord of the region can submit name changes of their citizen to the board."

You were losing hope.

"Though..."

Ayato continued.

"I remembered a few months back, the Tanaka clan petition for somebody's name changed."

"What...?"

"Let me take another guess. Are you from the Ritou area?"

Your eyes opened wide. No way would he betray you like that.

That arrogant bastard.

You felt your rage boiling over.

Sensing your anger, Ayato came over and patted you.

The touch...his touch....it wasn't so bad.

You two stayed like that for a moment until Thoma cleared his throat. You two backed away from the other.

"My lord, is this her?"

Ayato nodded.

"I greet the great lord of the underworld."

Thoma glared at you.

Ayato sighed.

"Thoma, you can stop that. She's no longer a threat to us."

"You can't be too sure. The gang are unpredictable in their barbaric ways."

You fired back at the stereotype.

"Excuse you. We actually have our own way of life and system operating."

"That's it, you two."

Ayato looked back at you.

"How about a new deal. One that actually requires trust?"

"Say it."

"You and me ally our forces and take down the Tanaka. You have your parents. I have my peace reassured."

You considered it. Betrayal is hard to recover from. However, you knew his reputation. He had done honest work.

"Fine. Now, may I get back to my base?"

"You may."
.............................................................

Over the next few days, you and Ayato paired up to complete a master plan. Ayato would fake his death, giving the illusion that the mission was successful.

This way, you will draw out the Tanaka. Which you and Ayato will finish off together.

The region was soon announced of their Lord's death.

A week of mourning was held.

You, on the other hand, walked into the guest room of the Tanaka Estate, preparing for the act.

"Her Grace, Y/N."

"Greetings, your grace. I've heard some interesting news."

His eyes glowed with pleasure.

You gulped.

"Then where the fuck are my parents?"

He smiled maliciously.

The two guards pointed their guns at you.

So this was their original plan.

"Did you actually believe me? My my, how foolish is the underground base?"

He laughed in your face.

You gripped your fists hard. Contain it Y/N. At least until Ayato gets here.

Just as the clock ticked 12, two shots fired, hitting the guards in the head. They collapsed onto the floor.

He turned around.

A gun clicked in his face. Another one pressed right in the back of his head.

He sure is punctual.

"Your deeds ends here, Tanaka."

Ayato smirked.

"You...."

Before he could defy, Ayato shot his square in the head. You followed soon and landed another in his face.

You looked straight at Ayato.

"Found them yet?"

Ayato smiled.

"Tied up nicely in the basement for you."

You smirked back at him. Finally you were able to return the favour to your amazing parents.

.............................................................

Over the next few months, you and Ayato continued your alliance.

Eventually, feelings begin to develop and sparks flew.

Before you know it, Ayato had confessed to you and is currently in happy relationship.

You smiled sitting at your new office desk, positioned where the old Tanaka estate used to be.

After the demolishing of the Tanaka, you were able to obtain the area for your people. Now those going through the same pain as you can live out happily.

To the world, the gang was darkness but to you, it was the light at the end of your tunnel.

Knock.

"Come in."

Ayato stepped in.

"Bored?"

Ayato sighed.

"More than ever."

His face soon flash up excitedly.

"How about we spar, for old time sake?"

"Sure."

You also didn't want to be stuck here.

"What's the prize?"

Ayato smirked lustfully.

"Winner gets to order the loser around for a day."

"I'll make you clean the estate."

Ayato rolled his eyes.

"Boring. If I have things my way, you would be spread out on my desk for the next 24 hours."

Ayato smiled innocently.

Oh? How interesting...
