Annoying Roommate. Kaveh

"Haaah.....*Sniff* ...Huh...."

The sound of crying filled the dorm room.

That guy must be working on his architecture project again, you grumbled, rolling from side to side underneath your blanket.

Even with the blanket and your hands blocking your ears weren't enough to drown out his cries.

You peek out of the blanket for the clock.

3:24 am.

At this point you'll get no sleep whatsoever.

You glance over at the blonde boy sitting by his desk, hand scribbling furiously.

How did I even get put with a guy like him...?

---

A couple of months ago, you had just arrived at college, fresh and ready to face the world.

You had waited years to finally enjoy your college life and go out with friends.

Hope filled you up as you found the number for your dorm room.

That's it.

Room 287.

You open the door with excitement, not being able to wait a second longer to meet your new dorm mate.

"Hello, my new- Huh?"

Instead of a girl, you came face to face with a boy, who was almost slammed against the wall from your outburst.

Silence filled the room as you tried to comprehend the presence in front of you.

Why is there a boy here...?

Slowly, you took a step out of the room, slightly closing the door enough to look at the number.

Room 287.

You then look down at the information leaflet with your name on it.

You whipped your head between the leaflet and the door code a dozen times, hoping that something was wrong or at least you were hallucinating.

But no, it was here as light as day.

The blonde boy decided to open the door and finally introduced himself.

"What a nice first impression for somebody who's going to be your roommate for the next few years in college."

He swept the dust off his clothes.

Extending out his hand, he smiled.

"The name's Kaveh, majoring in architecture."

You left his hand hanging.

"Well? Care for at least a welcoming handshake?"

You could tell he was hiding annoyance behind that smile.

You decided to shake back.

"Name's Y/N. Majoring in Finance. Though I'm not sure I'll be your roommate, there must be a mistake with the programme."

Kaveh rubbed his chin in deep thoughts.

"Don't think so, unless the headmaster was sitting on his head while writing it, there's little to no chance."

While you were in a daze, Kaveh took your bags inside.

"What-?"

"Hmph, You must have been on a long journey getting here, at least place the bags in the room for the meanwhile until you're able to set up at meeting with him."

Hmm, maybe he's not so bad after all...

"Close the door quickly, you're inviting unwanted germs into the room."

Tch. I take that back.

"And take off your shoes before entering, I literally just swept the floor."

Yeah, yeah...

Just hang on until I'm able to get to the headmaster, you encouraged yourself.

That's what you thought.

Until you found out that the headmaster wasn't sitting on his head while writing it and that he is in fact still sane, and that there was simply a shortage in rooms.

Your dream college life had ended before it even started.

---

*Back to present time*

Sounds of sniffling continued for ages until your sanity ran out.

"Can't you see I'm trying to sleep? Do you have no concept of time?"

You burst out of the warmth of the blanket.

What a waste of a good night's sleep.

You walk over to his desk.

"What is it that you're so pressed on?"

Kaveh simply look up at you, his puffy eyes filled with tear stains.

"I'm...Huh....just....Huh...trying to....complete this....assignment."

You tried to remain a strong face.

His cheeks puffed up.

His eyes glassy.

No, Y/N, don't lose over that face again.

He has done this multiple times before.

You glanced back at his paper.

Seems like he's trying to draw a building.

His phone screen lit up, showing the googled image of the structure Kaveh was trying to replicate.

Is he trying to draw that thing all night?

Hah....

This guy...

You stood up hurriedly, going towards the coat rack to pick up your hoodie.

Kaveh confusedly look at you, his eyes following your every movement.

"Where are you going...?"

"Hurry and put on something warm, we are going to go to the nearest convenience store."

Kaveh point at himself.

"I'm going too...?"

You raised your eyebrow in response.

"Do you not want to come along?"

He shook his head and hurriedly ran towards his closet, grabbing a light coat to put over his clothes.

"I'm ready."

You open the door.

"Then let's go."

.............................................................

"Are you done choosing yet...?"

You groaned as you held onto the basket full of food.

"Hold on, I'm just making sure to get the correct one."

Kaveh was bending low, inspecting each individual ramen cup.

Hah...

You often take Kaveh to the convenience store after his crying fits.

You can't even remember how much money you have spent over the months because of this guy.

"Alright, I'll pick this one."

Kaveh happily put it into the basket.

While standing in line, you decided to take out your wallet to check.

Kaveh noticed and asked.

"What are you doing?"

"Making sure I have enough to buy this basket of food."

You sarcastically replied.

"Wow...a finance student who don't even have enough finance to buy a cart of food."

Annoyance radiated from your body.

"One more word and your ramen is going back to the shelf."

Silence.

---

Once you have paid for everything, you two sat by the front window to eat.

You decided to ask again.

"So seriously, what made you cry so hard earlier? I doubt it's because of the drawing otherwise you would've walked out of every class looking like a balloon."

Kaveh nervously scratched his nape.

"Well...I couldn't get the dimensions right. Every single angle looks awkward. Even the online pic didn't help."

"So how come no other student in your class disturbs their roommates with late night bouts of crying?"

"Hehe...it was an open project. I just decided to do that one to challenge myself."

So that guy sacrificed my sanity just for that...?

You threw daggers at him.

Kaveh simply hid his face behind the ramen cup.

What was I expecting from this guy...?

Hah...

"Just finish your food."

"Alright."

.............................................................

It was now the weekend, a couple of days since the last crying fit of his.

You were idly scrolling when an ad popped up on your screen.

Almost closing it, You noticed it was a ticket discount for the building Kaveh had been busy drawing.

A quick google searched revealed that it was quite short from your campus by a bus ride.

An idea strung in your head.

No...You thought.

I already did so much for him.

But what if...

And he did say he had troubles with the online references...

Ahhh...Fuck this.

You pulled up the website to order two tickets for the entrance.

He better thank me for this.

.............................................................

"Wake up!"

You shook Kaveh.

Yawn...

"We have somewhere to go to."

"Where are we going this early in the morning...?"

Yes, it was indeed 6:30 in the morning but you knew from past experience to wake up a couple hours ahead.

Kaveh sleepily dragged himself out of bed and went to wash up.

Once Kaveh had dressed up, you dragged him out from the dorm to the bus stop.

Kaveh glanced at you.

You signalled what.

"Are you not cold?"

He pointed to your light coat.

"Not yet."

Luckily, the bus arrived on time and you paid for the tickets.

All while Kaveh trailed behind you like a lost puppy.

Unfortunately, Kaveh once again started with the questions.

"Why-"

"Just stay silent."

The rest of the ride was uneventful as Kaveh was too tired to argue back and simply slept peacefully on your shoulder.

Hmph...

You wouldn't admit that you were waiting impatiently for his excitement at the surprise.

Once the bus reached the destination, You gently tapped on his forehead.

"Kaveh, Kaveh."

Kaveh fluttered his light eyelashes open.

"Mmmh....."

He simply responded.

"We're here."

You two stepped out of the bus together, making your way to the entrance.

The closer you got to the ticket booth, the more excited Kaveh become.

By the time you made it past the lady, Kaveh was practically bursting from happiness.

"Thank you, thank you, thank you."

Kaveh excitedly clapped his hands.

Suddenly, Kaveh grabbed you close and pressed his lips onto your cheek.

Heat rushed to your face.

"W-what was that for?"

He practically had an invisible tail wagging behind him.

"That's to show my gratitude."

"A little too excessive."

You joint hands with Kaveh.

"Well? Find a spot to start your project."

Kaveh nodded.

Just as you told him, Kaveh soon found a nice spot underneath the shade of the tree.

Kaveh then suddenly remembered something.

"Oh..."

He looked disheartened.

"What's wrong?"

"I didn't bring my kit."

"Oh yeah, here, I brang them for you."

You handed Kaveh the tools from inside your bag.

"Don't spend too long drawing, save some time to explore the place."

"Alright."

While Kaveh was busying himself with the assignment, you decided to take a short walk around the area.

Seeing his happy face, you smiled.

Worth it.

---

*Kaveh's POV*

Y/N blessed me today.

I held the paper up close to my face, a sudden feeling of warmth.

It even smelt like Y/N.

Ah, I better get on with my assignment.

Kaveh began scribbling hard on his paper, occasionally looking up.

Suddenly, something caused him to stop in his track.

Kaveh's eyes remained pinned on you sitting by a stone wall, glancing at the small flowers.

Wow....just wow...

Silently, I tried to put down the first piece of paper.

"Was the first one not good?"

Y/N asked.

"Y-yeah."

Kaveh lied.

After an hour or so, I was finally able to wrap up the drawings and ran towards Y/N.

"Hey, I'm done. Let's go look around now."

Kaveh took your hand into his own.

You nodded.

Little did you know, Kaveh never scrapped his first drawing.

It's just his second was centered around you more than the actual building itself.

Not exactly what his professor would have wanted, would it?

.............................................................

*Timeskip*

Now you were busy waiting for Kaveh outside of his lecture hall.

A couple of students exited first before you were able to see your blonde roommate bouncing out the door.

Kaveh waved a piece of paper in the air, a big grin on his face.

His blonde hair swaying side to side.

"Guess what?"

He hooked his hand onto yours.

"What?"

Waving the assignment in front of your face, Kaveh happily replied.

"I got the highest mark and it's all thanks to you."

You scoffed.

"Then it was worth my sanity."

Kaveh shyly rubbed his neck.

"I was thinking, how about we go for some ramen? I'll pay after all those months of you paying for me."

You rubbed your chin.

"Yeah, why not. I was craving it anyway."

"Then let us go."

Kaveh was a bright ray of sunshine.

Months ago, you walked in expecting to see a female roommate, only to be met with this blonde architect.

You two bickered all the time.

And yet, you wouldn't trade him for the world.

Yes, he was annoying.

But he'll always be my annoying roommate.
