Chapter 2: Best Friend

By the time the search party that had left Farfoss to find the two Princesses of Arendelle had returned, the two had fallen asleep upon traveling back with their father upon his house. Y/N was still awake as he rode with one of Agnarr's men, but was getting tired.

The part of the party that was still with King Agnarr had reached the estate as Queen Iduna rushed out of the building in the frantic state that she was, due to not knowing where her daughters were. Upon seeing them asleep on her husband's house, she eased up a little and continued over. Agnarr handed Anna to her before he got off the animal and held Elsa.

"They are okay," Iduna said out of relief.

"They were a little shaken when I found them. Bandits had cornered them upon a cliff, but thanks to him they are okay," Agnarr told her as he gestured to Y/N, as he got off of the house he had rode on. She was surprised to see a boy to be the savior of their daughters. Agnarr then lowered his voice to a whisper. "Elsa told me that he has powers. Lightning instead of ice."

The Queen was shocked. "Another with powers like Elsa?" She asked. "She's not alone. But what was..."

"Oh, he is Y/N," The King then added, upon noticing he never said the name of the boy.

"What was Y/N doing out so late?"

"And so far from any kind of village? I have that question as well," Agnarr added as he shifted to wave Y/N over to follow them into the estate. "I'm concerned about his well being. That's part of the reason as to why I insisted that he come back with us here. I have every intention of helping if something is wrong."

"I know that you would," Iduna added as they had reached the estate's door and stepped inside.

The estate was a well furnished building with every intention for any nobleman visiting the town of Farfoss to stay in. Upon walking into it, there was a series of stairs leading to a second floor that had a red carpet upon the steps. To the right of the stairs there was a living room with the finest handmade furniture that one could find, and to the left was a large dining room with a table to fit a large family.

As Agnarr started to walk up the stairs to put Elsa to bed, Iduna turned to Y/N. "Thank you for saving my daughters Y/N."

"It was no trouble, your Magisity," Y/N responded with a slight bow since he was before the Queen, also making a note to apologize to the King for not doing so in the woods earlier.

"Once I set Anna to bed, I'll get some refreshments for you, I'm sure you're hungry," She spoke softly.

Y/N nodded. "That would be wonderful, so long as it is not too much trouble for yourself."

"No trouble at all," Iduna smiled. "The living room is on the right, if you would like to sit. I'll be right back."

Queen Iduna then started to go up the stairs as well. Y/N went to the living room and took off his cloak and folded it up before setting it down on an arm to the sofa. He also took off his knife in its holder and set it on the table that was in front of the sofa. He then sat down onto the sofa and instantly fell asleep upon touching the soft fabric.

Iduna soon returned from putting her daughters to bed and checked to see if Y/N was still awake or not. Seeing that he had fallen asleep, she smiled from the doorway and left to find a blanket for Y/N to use for the night.

The birds chirped as the sunlight fell through the windows of the living room, hitting Y/N's face making him stir awake. He stretched his arms and back upon waking up, and saw the yellow blanket that covered him and figured that it was Iduna's doing. He then sat up, and looked around the room a little.

"Good morning," Iduna greeted as she walked into the room to check and see how Y/N was going. "I hoped you slept well."

"Haven't slept that well in a long time," Y/N responded. "Good morning to you as well."

"There is some breakfast in the dining room if you would like to join Agnarr and myself," Iduna offered with a smile to Y/N before she left the room.

Y/N wiped the sleep from his eyes before standing up from the sofa he had slept on. He folded the blanket loosely in half and then again before setting it onto the back of the sofa, on the other side where his head once laid. He then made his way to the dining room as he saw the King and Queen sitting at the opposite end of the table from which was closest to the entrance. The boy saw a plate in front of a chain to Agnarr's right as he sat at the head of the table, with Iduna on his left. In the center of the table, and then the two halves created by the center candles sat, waiting to be sue for evening dinners.

"Good morning, King Agnarr," Y/N said with a bow, as the King had seen him enter.

"Y/N, good morning," Agnarr smiled as he waved for him to come over. "We have a seat for you. I figure you are starved."

Y/N walked further into the room as he smelled the smell of fresh bacon, something he had not had to eat in a while. Upon reaching the seat that was set for him, Y/N saw that there were pancakes along with the bacon he had smelled earlier waiting for him.

"I made them myself, I hope you enjoy," Iduna added once Y/N sat down.

Y/N took the silverware into his hands and started to eat his breakfast, letting the Queen know that it was terrific after the first bite. He soon noticed something and decided to ask.

"I hope I'm not intruding, but are Princess Elsa and Princess Anna alright after last night?"

"They are both still fast asleep. They will be okay," Iduna responded as Y/N nodded.

Y/N soon finished up his breakfast as the King and Queen watched him. "Haven't eaten something that good in a while," Y/N added as he sat back into the chair. "Thank you for making it for me."

"I'm glad that you enjoyed it," Iduna spoke.

"Y/N," King Agnarr said as the boy looked at the man who smiled. "I'm sure your parents are worried sick about you at this point. I can take you back to your home and explain what happened to them."

"Oh, um, you can just leave me by the cliff your Highness," Y/N responded in a way that told the two Royals that he was not telling them something.

"You live out there?" The Queen asked, as Y/N nodded slowly.

"I can just go there myself," Y/N then said. "I've taken much over your time already."

"Nonsense," Agnarr waved. "Your parents should know they should feel proud for what you did last night."

Y/N looked down. "Parents..."

"Y/N?" Iduna asked. "Are you okay?"

The boy looked at the King and then to the candles closest to them. Raising his left hand, lightning shot out and lit the candles before Y/N stopped the power as the candle was still lit. "Elsa told you, didn't she? I saw her powers last night as well. She's not in full control of it, is she?"

"Not yet, but she still has a good amount of control over them," Agnarr shook his head. "How are you able to control yours?"

"I've had three years to test my limits and breakthrough. Plus, I have nothing else to fear anymore."

"Three years?" Agnarr asked. "Fear?"

"On your own?" Iduna asked as well. "What about your mother and father?"

Y/N shook his head again. "They are gone."

Iduna gasped as she moved her hands to cover her mouth as Agnarr looked sorrowful as his original offer to ask Y/N to help Elsa control her powers no longer felt appropriate at the moment.

"I don't remember much of them anymore, but my father taught me how to fight. Knife, saber, you name it. He was a guard for my home village. When I was seven, it was attacked by the bandits that run rampant in these parts," Y/N explained as he then set the compass upon the table. "This is all that I have left to remember them."

It was then quiet in the room as the two Royals of Arendelle thought of what to do. They couldn't just leave the boy that saved their daughters all alone.

"Y/N," Iduna said, making the boy look up from the compass and she saw his teary eyes that made her heart shatter. "How would you like to live with us, back in Arendelle?"

Y/N had a puzzled look on his face upon hearing this. "Pardon me?"

"There is plenty of room in Arendelle Castle," Agnarr started to explain as Iduna stood and walked to Y/N, who started to cry upon hearing the life changing offer. "You will never have to be alone like you have been. Anything you need, we can help you with."

"Why?" Y/N asked. "Why would you go so far to help someone like me?"

Iduna knelt down to look at Y/N in the eyes. "Because someone as kind as you, who would risk their life to save someone, should never be alone."

Once the Queen had finished her sentence, she embraced the boy.

"I'm so sorry for what you had to go through," She added.

"Th-thank you. Thank you," Y/N responded as he started to cry, not of sadness, but of joy for how he would no longer be alone.

It was later the afternoon when Y/N knocked upon the open door to Elsa and Anna's room n the estate. King Agnarr had left soon after their breakfast to continue talks with the Lord of Farfoss. Iduna had taken Y/N out to purchase some new clothes for him, since the ones he used to wear showed that he needed some new ones, although they fit him just right. Iduna did make sure that one of the staff that traveled with them from Arendelle would make the finishing touches for Elsa and Anna's breakfast once they woke up.

After that, Iduna had to leave for the meeting with the Lord as well, since she was the Queen of Arendelle after all. This left the staff for Arendelle, the Princesses, and Y/N left in the estate. The boy figured that he should try and get to know the Princesses better, since he would be living with them.

He saw that they two were playing in snow that Elsa had made for them. There were some small figures within a landscape of snow as well as the were on their knees within it.

"Hey," Y/N said after the knock as the two looked up at him. " just wanted to make sure that you're both okay."

Anna ran up to Y/N and hugged him while looking up at him. "Thank you for saving us!"

"I'm just glad I was able to," The boy responded as he then looked at Elsa who had tears in her eyes. "Elsa?"

Anna broke the hug. "Elsa?"

"I-I was just s-so scared of what they'd do to us," She cried still on her knees.

Y/N went over to her, taking her hands into his own and looked right into her eyes. "You'll never have to worry about that again, okay?"

Elsa wiped her strands of tears from her face and nodded. "Okay."

"So, what are you both doing?"

"Playing 'Enchanted Forest'," Anna said with a twirl as she came up to them.

"Would you like to join us?" Elsa asked.

"Well, your going to tell me how to play 'Enchanted Forest'," Y/N responded.

It was later into the evening when King Agnarr and Queen Iduna returned to the estate. The talks with the Lord had concluded positively for everyone involved, so they would be starting the trip to return to Arendelle in the morning.

The King and Queen went up to check and see how the children were doing.

"Do you think Y/N is fitting in with Elsa and Anna?" Aganrr asked Iduna as they reached their daughters' room.

Iduna cracked the door open and saw that there was a pile of snow and a few lightning bolts in it as well. The two saw Anna sleeping on her back with her arms and legs spread, looking like she passed out from playing the afternoon away. Elsa was curled up, with her head using Y/N's stretched arm for a pillow.

"Oh, I think Elsa and Anna just made a best friend," Iduna responded with a smile, making Agnarr smile and playfully roll his eyes before they closed the door to the room.
