Chapter 119

I don't know what happened to the first part of this chapter but it got deleted and had to be rewritten, so I apologize if it's janky. I'm not great at re-writing things I already wrong. Leggo.

"He asked you to eat his hair and you just DID it?!" Tsukauchi all but shrieked. The detective and former number one pro had dragged Chad outside and were now screaming at him in the car. Chad didn't look amused, resigned to sitting in the backseat while they lectured him. "Why would you do that?!"

"I don't fucking know! Why would he ask me to eat his hair?" Chad asked as though that mattered. Who cares why he did it?! The point was you didn't eat someone's hair. If you were visiting a literal criminal in jail and they asked you ingest any portion of their outer extremities, the answer should always be no! No matter the circumstance! Toshinori was having a mental breakdown in the passenger's seat, unable to do anything but rest his head on the dashboard and take deep breaths.

Tsukauchi felt pretty speechless as well. How was he supposed to respond to this? If All Might himself couldn't even come up with something to say, Tsukuachi didn't see how he was supposed to either. Just-- god, this man was infuriating! Nothing about Chad made sense. He did things without thinking. Things that, oddly enough, seemed to work out half the time! He at least wasn't dead yet. That was something.

"You can't just-- Chad, what the hell?" Tsukauchi groaned as he dragged his hands down his face, pulling at his skin in the process. He sounded like he was in literal pain. Chad raised an eyebrow. He felt severely out of the loop right now. What weren't they telling him? Chad was a man with a lot of knowledge. He had connections and he knew a lot of shit he probably shouldn't have known. It's how his world went round. Totally chill, totally sort of not at all legal. Hella rad! So just what did they know that he had no inkling about? It was rare that he didn't have a clue, but he was as lost as a needle in a haystack at the moment.

"Did he say anything else?" Toshinori managed to croak out. Chad pushed his sunglasses up onto his forehead, pursing his lips as All Might turned his head painstakingly slow to look back at the blonde young man sitting in the back seat. "He didn't mention me, did he?"

"Uhhhhh." Chad thought about it, squinting. Tsukauchi groaned again. It wasn't Chad's fault he forgot shit five minutes after it was told to him. It would come back 'round memory central eventually. He just had no damn idea when 'eventually' was. Let's see. Izuku hadn't said much, but Chad was pretty sure All Might hadn't been brought up. Probably. He'd take a shot in the dark and go with no. "Nah. Just apologized, said he didn't change shit. I don't know."

Chad shrugged helplessly as though to say 'what can you do?'. Toshinori looked like he may actually cry.

In truth, Toshinori had no idea what to do in this situation. He'd, of course, thought about One For All and what was going to become of it. Izuku couldn't use it where he was, but he hadn't thought the freckled teen would be willing to pass it on to anyone. Yet he'd willingly chosen Chad and handed it off. What sort of judgment was that? Had it been a good one? Was it bad? Either way, Izuku's word wasn't exactly being taken very seriously right now. Not with all he'd done and had tried to do.

All Might didn't know Chad well. He knew he had a lot of guns, Aizawa didn't like him because of property damage and something to do with fast food, and he was resourceful. All Might had seen him at work some in Kamino, and he'd been fairly impressive despite being quirkless. But was he worthy of a quirk like One For All? Toshinori had no idea what morals he held, if he was strong enough, if he'd be willing to continue the fight ahead-- he just didn't know. And that made him beyond stressed.

"This is really not good." Tsukuachi groused, his mind whirring. From what he'd been told about One For All, you had to want to pass it on. That meant that if they wanted to get it back from Chad-- assuming they could and decided to-- they'd have to tell him about it. Chad was a mysterious man. Despite how reckless and immature he acted, he could keep a secret. But what would Toshinori choose? Toshinori didn't know him. Hell, Tsukauchi really didn't either. Not well enough to make a call so serious. All Tsukuachi was sure of was that Chad did a lot of illegal stuff and cared a massive amount about those he was close to.

"Listen, my chimichanga bros. Are y'all going to tell me what in hot hell is going on? Clearly there's some tea you're not spilling." Chad drawled out, slumping back in his seat and crossing his arms over his chest. He didn't like being so far away from the school. What if something happened to one of his kids while he wasn't there? He'd have to fuck some shit up, and he really didn't want to do that today. Not that it wasn't fun-- it just wasn't on the agenda. Taco Casa and homemade salsa were on the menu, and he didn't want to miss that shit just to throw down. Though he would if provoked.

"This has to be a nightmare." Toshinori breathed, sitting up. Chad let his sunglasses slip back down onto his face, pursing his lips.

"No nightmares here, amigo." The man tipped his head. "Just Chad."

Tsukuachi couldn't see himself right now, but he was pretty sure if he could, it would look like he just ate a lemon.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Aizawa woke up to an ear-piercing scream that had him shooting up out of bed and running out the door in seconds. The shriek was followed by a thumping sound and hysterical sobbing that made his head spin as the tiredness flow out of him like water going down a drain. The quickness at which he'd awoken left his head throbbing, but that didn't stop him from practically kicking Lillian's door open to see what the hell was happening. His heart was thundering by the time he got there, his breaths coming out in short puffs. It was amazing how he could fight for hours on end without tiring, but scrambling across his apartment in a terrified frenzy was more than enough to wind him.
The lights were already on when he barged in. His eyes immediately came to rest on Lillian, who was shaking and blubbering into Bakugo's shoulder. The champagne blonde looked like he'd been startled awake, his crimson eyes lined with exhaustion as he did his best to comfort her. He clearly had no idea what he was supposed to be doing, awkwardly rubbing a hand up and down her back as she clung to him. Aizawa felt a spark of irritation ignite in him. He snuffed it out quickly. Now wasn't the time to be annoyed that this explosive brat was still sleeping in his daughter's bedroom.
Lillian took deep breaths in and out. No need to be pathetic. Everything was cash money at this moment and time. No need to panic. Why panic? She wasn't panicking. Exactly, that made perfect sense. Just-- god, she couldn't think straight. These nightmares were starting to get to her. Most didn't end with her waking up screaming, but this one had been bad. She'd woken up to Bakugo shaking her and had given him a pretty solid kick to the chest that had sent him sprawling back onto the ground. And then she'd started to cry because she was not only scared, but she'd also kicked him. This led to her latching onto him the moment he recuperated and rushed back to see if she was okay. Now they were both in an awkward situation.
"Was it a nightmare?" Aizawa asked, his voice coming out hoarse and tired. Bakugo nodded wordlessly, looking rather shaken himself. Shota felt momentarily angry once again. These were kids. That was his daughter trembling there and crying because she'd been through something a teenager shouldn't have to go through! It pissed him off beyond what anyone could ever imagine. This was one of the reasons he hadn't been allowed to see Izuku Midoriya yet. It was for the best, honestly. Even Aizawa wasn't sure how he'd react to seeing the teenager who practically ruined his little girl's life and wrecked her entire mental state, and the mental states of several of his students.
"This was one of the bad ones." Bakugo noted quietly as Lillian took a few deep breaths to calm herself down. At the beginning of the year, she wouldn't have known how to bring herself down from such a panic. Despite himself, Shota felt proud of her for handling it. He stepped further into the room with a small sigh. He just wished she didn't have to know how was all. She deserved so much better. All of his students did.
"Lillian?" Aizawa crouched down, carefully reaching out to rest a hand on her back. She flinched slightly. Shota almost withdrew, but the smallest movement from her head stopped him as she peeked at him with puffy red eyes. Her face was flushed from crying so much, and she looked vaguely embarrassed to be holding onto Bakugo so hard. Aizawa offered a small smile. "Are you alright? Do you need anything?"
Lillian took a deep, shuddering breath. It wracked through her whole body, reminding Aizawa of how small she was. All his students were small, really, not even close to being full grown. It made his chest ache to see any of them hurting, but especially Lillian.
"I-I'm alright." Lillian cleared her throat a few times, feeling like a certified dumbass. In her nightmare, everything had been black. It always started out that way. Her hearing was sensitive. So sensitive, in fact, that she could hear her own blood rushing past her ears. Her own breath drowned out everything else. It was just her sitting there with a blindfold on. The fabric was scratchy and sticky from her tears. Notably uncomfortable, one might describe it. Not to mention the air. It was boiling hot, but her skin felt chilled to the touch anyway.
Then, the blindfold would fall away and she'd be standing instead of sitting. And Izuku would be just barely ten feet away, a gun pointed at her. Right as it went off, she'd close her eyes and brace for the blow. But it would never come. It would whiz past her ear, and she'd whip around just in time to see Awase crumble into a heap. She hadn't known him. Not well. But he'd saved her-- he'd been a hero. Lillian wasn't sure how to repay that.
"You waking up screaming and shit sort of conflicts with that, Freckles." Bakugo noted as the girl pulled away from him, bringing her hands up to wipe at her cheeks. Katsuki could feel his teacher drilling holes into the side of his head. It made him sweat, so he focused on Lillian as hard as he could. She had helped him with several nightmares, so he understood what she was going through. And that no matter what she said, she wasn't actually okay.
Before Aizawa could tell Katsuki to shut the hell up and stop cursing and giving his daughter endearing pet names, a small knock at the window cut him off. It wasn't Vlad, that was for sure. If the Nomu was going to come in, he did it with a crash. Aizawa rose to his feet defensively, as did Bakugo. Lillian's brows furrowed as she gazed at the window. Shoto and Hitoshi would just come down the stairs if they wanted to visit, and Neito knew he could just climb in whenever he wanted. So who could it be?
Bakugo stalked over with sparking palms, ripping the curtains open. He expected to see the undead fucker or maybe one of the Nomu there. Instead, he was met with the familiar face of none other than Eri. She was standing on her toes to peek through the window, sunglasses that were too big for her face perched carefully on her nose despite it being nighttime. Were she not a little brat, he would've told her to fuck right the hell off. But she was just a kid, so he pulled the window open anyway.
Bakugo stepped back as Eri struggled to pull herself up, raising an eyebrow at her as she grunted and struggled to swing her leg over the frame. Lillian leaned forward slightly, blinking at Eri wriggled into her bedroom. Aizawa looked between the tot coming through the window, Lillian, and Bakugo, trying to figure out what was going on. No one said anything. They just let Eri literally roll in and fall on the ground with a thud. Lillian opened her mouth only to close it again. She had no idea what to say.
Eri huffed, standing up and brushing off her khaki shorts, adjusting her sunglasses, and straightening her Hawaiian shirt. She was a whole vibe. It was three in the morning, so why was she here? She went almost nowhere without Vlad. Like, seriously, what was going on? Something had to be wrong. Even Lillian managed to sober herself up and get out of bed to approach the girl.
"Eri?" Lillian asked, her voice still a bit weak from sobbing into Bakugo's shoulder. Add that to her top ten list of most embarrassing moments, by the way. Maybe. Lillian wasn't sure. Now wasn't exactly the time to have a crisis thinking over and ranking every embarrassing thing she'd ever experienced either. Which was reminding her of that one time she got a comb stuck in her hair and started crying while on her internship and Mic had to help her get it out and he found like, three hair clips she'd lost in there along the way. Off-topic. Eri. Yes. "Are you okay? What's wrong?"
Eri planted her hands on her hips and took a deep breath.
"Someone tried to sneak onto campus and Chad isn't here so Dabi set them on fire while Plad, Skad, and Amad all punched her." Eri proclaimed. "And I was supposed to go get Nezu, but I don't like rats, so I came here. Kind of pointless since Bakugo is here."
"Did you just call me a motherfucking rat?" Bakugo seethed. Lillian and Aizawa were a bit more caught on the someone trying to sneak onto campus part.
"No, just a rat. You added the motherfucking part yourself." Eri said it so casually that Bakugo was left speechless. This little shit hea-
"W-Wait, back up." Lillian shook her head. "Someone snuck onto campus?"
"Yeah. Vlad is sitting on her so she doesn't escape." Eri said, bringing her hand up to her ear. Aizawa's lips parted in surprise, his eyes narrowing. Was that an earpiece? Good god, this kid was a miniature version of Chad. He wouldn't be surprised if she whipped out a gun. "They're fighting back so Vlad is going to fly really high up and then drop her to scare her into submission."
"What? No, no, just restrain her. Tell them not to say a word to her until I get here. And tell Dabi to call Nezu." Aizawa said, already turning around to go get his capture weapon. He ran out of the room just as the distant sound of screaming sounded. Eri, Lillian, and Katsuki all peered out the window to see Vlad hovering in the air holding a body. Dabi was below, shaking his fist up at the Nomu and spitting curses. The other three Nomu were dancing in a circle in a way that looked nearly ritualistic.
"You think she'll survive in time for my dad to get there?" Lillian asked genuinely. Vlad dropped the person.
"No." Bakugo responded honestly. Eri climbed back out the window and vanished into the bushes, melting away like a shadow.
