This Time

The entire ride home was silent, Chuck rested his head against the window and avoided conversation. It was almost as if our whole conversation didn't change a thing between us. Nate's name pops up on my phone and I answer.

"Hey Rosie, are you on your way back yet?" He asks.

"Yeah, I found him. We'll be there in 10 minutes," I reply.

"How is he?"

"Oh you know, like he always is. I found him-," All of a sudden Chuck grabs the phone out of my hand and hangs up the call.

"What the hell, Chuck?" I yell reaching my arm over him to try and grab my phone.

"Don't tell him where you found me," He says.

"Why?"

"It's our little secret hideout, remember. I don't want anyone else to find out about it."

I remember he's still drunk and dismiss his childish actions. He finally hands me back my phone after my continuous begging. Chuck leans his head on my shoulder and beings to fall asleep, I run my hands through his hair to soothe him.

"Chuck, where do you wanna be dropped off?" I ask softly.

"My apartment."

Chuck clumsily walks out of the elevator and almost trips me which would send us flying to the floor.

"Jesus Chuck, you're so heavy," I mutter.

We finally reach his door and Nate opens the door, a relived look washes over my face as Nate takes Chuck off of me. He takes Chuck to his room and I follow behind them watching as Nate drops Chuck on the bed. He turns back at me with a smile, we hug and he leads me into the living room.

"I already called Blair, she's on her way," He says.

"Nate, you know I can't be around her right now," I reply

"Well, you are gonna have to suck it up. You are staying until I say you can go."

"You are not the boss of me, plus, we were in the middle of something before we got interrupted."

"I thought we already cleared everything up?" He questions.

A knock on the door interrupts us for a second time and Nate gets up to answer the door.

"I came as fast as I could, where is he?" Blair asks her voice filling the entire apartment.

"In his room," Nate answers leading her into Chuck's room. He comes back a few minutes later shutting the door behind him.

"Natie, can we leave? Please," I beg.

"Where do you want to go?"

"Anywhere but here,"

Blair comes out of Chuck's bedroom and starts to walk over to us. She sits down on the edge of the couch.

"Where did you find him?" She asks.

I avoid her eyes and say, "He was at his father's place."

She flashes me a smile small before saying, "Thank you."

"I'm gonna go check on him," I say as I get up from the couch. I walk away from them and enter Chuck's room.

He turns to look at me and tells me to close the door behind me, I sit on the edge of the bed and he grabs my hands.

"Dawn, what I said back there was true. I never wanted to hurt you."

"You have a really funny way of showing it, Chuck. I mean what you did to get back at me wasn't right."

"What do I have to do to make you forgive me?" He asks.

"Chuck, I can't be with you this time. You have to figure things out with Blair first before I can even consider moving forward with you. Until that happens, I'll be waiting for you," I get up from the bed and kiss his cheek before walking out of his room.
