It was soon November and Heatwave and Quickshadow headed to Houston. They had to be there a few days ahead of time because she was going to be induced. They were going to deliver in the Pavilion for women and they wanted to be ready for it. Heatwave and Quickshadow were soon there a checked in to a hotel. Now they just had a wait just for a couple of days. Then they can in for the induction. Quickshadow was more than a little nervous but she was ready have her baby and have him helped.

At the hospital the labor took about 7 hours and their son was born. "Let's name him Hot shot," Heatwave said.

"That is a wonderful name," Quickshadow said.

So they watched as their son was taken to the nicu. Then a couple of days later getting his first surgery.  Heatwave and Quickshadow were really worried and hoping it was going to go well. Then a bit later after a couple of updates they saw a nurse come to them. "The surgery is finished and he is stable and back in the nicu." The nurse said.

Heatwave and Quickshadow saw their son in the nicu with a big mark on his chest. Now he was going to need close monitoring until he builds up his strength and gets his second surgery. Heatwave and Quickshadow were learning a lot of things fast. They learned what symptoms to look for and how to help him. They were ready for it and they were going to do what they could for their son.

They soon brought Hot shot home several days later now that he was strong enough. The others were going to have to help in monitoring Hot shot to make sure he was doing alright and help in case of an emergency.

Quickshadow fretted and worried a lot about Hot shot the moment he got home. "You're okay," she would often say to him.

Heatwave felt pretty protective of Hot shot as well.

They constantly were concerned about him. They worried about his little heart and worried about his future. All they could think about when looking at him was his little heart.

Hot shot was growing quickly and shown to be down well. Hot shot was soon taken to get his second surgery. They made it to Texas children's quickly and the surgery was started. Heatwave and Quickshadow were very worried about Hot shot. They got updates every hour. Then after 8 hours the surgery was complete. Heatwave and Quickshadow felt relief and saw their baby in the NICU again. "It is going to be okay," Quickshadow said to little Hot shot.

Hot shot was soon awake and fussy. He was scared of what was going one. He didn't know where he was at the moment and he was wanting his mommy and daddy. Heatwave stroked his hand. "It is alright Hot shot, daddy's here," Heatwave told him.

Hot shot smiled at him and was happy to see him. Hot shot was taken home several days later. They were happy to bring Hot shot home. Soon Hot shot learned to crawl and he was all over the place. Quickshadow would quickly pick him up a lot of the time. She worried for his safety.

Heatwave seemed to keep his guard up around Hot shot too.

"I understand why you two are protective of Hot shot, but you can still let him be a kid." Chief Burns said.

"I know but we worry about his little heart," Quickshadow admitted.

"Yes his little heart is what we are worried about," Heatwave said.

"I know but he still needs to be a kid," Chief said.

"Okay," Heatwave and Quickshadow said.

"I don't have a child with a serious medical condition but I do know even though his health has to be monitored he can still live a normal childhood," Chief said.

Heatwave and Quickshadow understood and were happy to have him home. Hot shot was needing a lot of attention. "Blurr are you sure you can watch Hot shot for a few hours?" Quickshadow asked.

"I sure can," Blurr said.

"Here is Hot shot's schedule and his favorite foods," Heatwave said. "Here is his diaper bag and this is his favorite toy his rhino Smashy," he said.

"I guess Hot shot named it," Blurr said.

"Yep," Quickshadow said. "If he gets fussy give Smashy and he will calm down," she said.

"Will do," Blurr said.

Blurr was babysitting Hot shot today. He was busy with Hot shot and taking care of him. "Okay that all checks out and in normal range." Blurr said monitoring Hot shot's heart.  Then he fed Hot shot and took him out for a while. He was very busy but he got to have fun with Hot shot.

Hot shot was growing into a very healthy little boy so far. He was reaching more milestones and soon walking and talking. Hot shot soon was able to run. But he could only do it for a little while.

Heatwave and Quickshadow were still watching him closely. They hoped that his next heart operation would help him.
