Chapter-20

“Okay, what are we searching for again?” Pangzi asked Wu Xie. The group had finally calmed down after facing their own terrifying nightmares while covered in those vines and were now busy searching for an item that both Wu Xie’s grandfather and his uncle were ready to die for.

“We are looking for a black satin box. It should be around 15 to 20cm long, at least 5 cm in both height and breadth.” Wu Xie said, describing the mysterious box as perfectly as he could. He had never seen the box himself but explained it the way his uncle had told him before.

Flashback

“But-” Wu Xie began but was cut off with his uncle's stern voice.

“I said, NO! No matter how much you beg or plead, you're not coming with me. That's final, got it?”

Wu Xie sighed, there's no way the old man will agree to his pleadings, knowing just how stubborn the old fox is. He decided to give up trying to convince him.

But he still couldn't comprehend one thing.

“Okay. I won't ask to go with you again, but tell me. Just what is it that you're looking that you are ready to sacrifice your life for it?” Wu Xie watched as how uncle's expression went from anger to a dark, cold gaze. His eyes held so much hate in them that Wu Xie thought he would freeze if he didn't look away.

“What I'm looking for is a black, satin box.” Wu Sanxing replied shortly, his voice laced in venom. Wu Xie didn't find the answer satisfactory so he decided to ask further, he had to be careful not to anger his uncle anymore.

“And...what is inside that box?” Wu Xie asked slowly, his eyes squinting as he prepared himself to hear an earful. But what he heard was something completely different.

“Inside it, is something you should never witness yourself. Hear me dear Tianzhen, if I come back from this expedition with that black box, promise me to never open it. Please. I don't want you to know what's inside it. Please.”

Wu Xie had never heard his uncle sound this desperate and it took him by surprise. With eyes full of amazement and shock, Wu Xie nodded, promising the old man.

End of Flashback.

“Oh and also! If you do find this box, do not open it.” Wu Xie continued.

“But why?” Pangzi asked, confusion clear on his face.

“Just don't okay? I dunno why, but uncle said not to.” I really wonder what caused him to go all soft and sad like that.

“Pu-Wu Xie! Does the box you speak of look like this?” Zhang called out, stumbling over his tongue as his face went slightly red at the name he was about to call out.

“Let me see, Xioage!” Wu Xie answered back and Zhang sighed in relief, glad the younger hadn't heard him. In case Wu Xie would have heard him, Zhang knew the younger would be extremely upset.

Picking up the box in hand, Wu Xie was damn sure it had to be the thing they were all looking for. The box had a velvet texture and if it weren't for all those disgusting and creepy dust and spiderwebs, it would be one expensive looking box.

“I am positively sure this is what we are looking for.” This is the same box that grandpa died searching for....

“Hey Wu Xie you okay?” Zhang said as he noticed the sudden sadness that had settled on the younger's face.

“Yeah! I'm fine! Let's get out of this place, I really wanna go home.” Wu Xie said and Pangzi let out loud ‘yes’, almost tearing Yuchen’s eardrum and earning a dark glare from him.

Zhang simply smiled at the cute puppy like male and helped him to his feet. He took the box and placed it in his bag, making sure it was in the safest spot so it doesn't break.

“Let's get out of this wretched place!” Xiazi said and Yuchen only smirked a bit while the rest followed Zhang as he quietly walked his way out of the forest, leaving Xiazi all alone looking stupid posing as if he was a hero of some sort.

“Hey! Don't leave me all alone like that! Hua’er!!” He screamed as he realized everyone had left him behind. Hearing the loud screeching, Yuchen couldn't help but let out a stifled giggle which he immediately covered up with a cough.

He is whipped. Wu Xie thought, smiling to himself at the thought. He was glad his cousin was finally letting his walls down and allowing himself to like someone.

Wu Xie’s group set out the purple smoke into the air, the signal they were suppsoed to send out before entering the cave, but considering how much of a rush everything had been in, it slipped everyone’s mind.

“You found the cave?!” Wu Sanxing asked as soon he caight up with Wu Xie.

“Not only that but....” Wu Xie said and called Zhang over to him, taking the box from his bag and placing it in his uncle’s hand.

“We found what you truly came here for. No need for you to enter the cave.”

To say that Wu Sanxing was shocked would be an understatement. The man was blown out of his wits. He couldn't believe that his nephew, who had never been on an expedition before, completed this mission in one go.

Seeing Wu Sanxing’s expression satisfied Wu Xie and his expression broke into a huge smirk.

Now who is inexperienced?

“Okay, Now that you found what you are looking for sir, can we go home?” Pangzi said,  although he would hate to distance himself from his Yun Cai, he wanted to sleep in a real bed.

“Yeah,  let's head home.”

Time skip to 4 hours later.

“We are finally back home!!! I missed you so much my beloved couch! Oh! Did you miss me too?” Wu Xie let out dramatically as he sprawled out on the couch.

As he laid down on his back, his breath hitched as he saw a figure looming over him with eyes full of lust.

“I think it is okay if we do this now.” Zhang said as he closed the gap between the two and connected his lips with the younger.
