16. Flickering Flame

Pacifica Pines

"I'm very well aware of yo - " I began, only to be cut off, none other than by Dipper Gleeful.

     "No."

"What?" I raised an eyebrow, crossing my arms together in front of my chest. I couldn't believe my ears, to how rude Dipper was being right now. I had a whole plan planned out in my head, right now.

     "No," he repeated.

     "Don't -"

     Well, there goes my plan.

"No. No, no, no, no. I'm done with your crap, alright?" he said, his once clear voice now slurred and his brown eyes hazy. His voice cracked at the end. I raised an eyebrow, trying to look completely calm.

While on the inside, my heart was threatening to lurch out of my throat. I could hear it thumping dangerously fast in my ears, and my palms felt sticky and sweaty. I don't know why I was nervous and scared, but I did know one thing.

He's drunk, that's for sure, but on what, I don't know.

"He's drunk on power," a voice whispered into my ear. I whipped my head to my left and saw Mabel Gleeful in all her glory. Her usually perfect hair was now in a messy bun and her clothes creased, and her mascara running down her cheeks and her cheeks a blotchy red.

She still looked gorgeous, though. Like a gorgeous mess.

"Happens when you use too much power," she nodded at Dipper, and gestured towards him, "this is what you end up with."

"I tried to control him," anger flared up in her brown eyes, "but I seem to have no effect," she scoffed. "I'll leave you to it now," she said, turning towards me and turning into dust. I opened my mouth to say something but she had left.

I narrowed my eyes at Dipper, wary of what he was going to do next. I could notice that the sun was going down and the shadows of the trees were getting longer, and scarier. It was no longer the afternoon, but it was getting closer to night.

Still keeping an eye on Dipper, who was tripping over things as he struggled to stand up straight, I rummaged through my pockets for my phone and quickly went through the texts.

RobbieTheHottie: alright, see ya in a bit, lil one

I sighed in relief that they were going to cover me up in front of Bud, but when I shoved my phone in my pocket and turned my head to look at Dipper, he was awfully close to me. His breath coolly fanned my face and smelt minty.

It didn't reek of alcohol or anything else, which was an even bigger relief. I don't know why, but my stomach was twisting itself into little knots, and I felt even more nervous than before. Dipper's eyes were surprisingly stuck to my eyes, as he reached up and touched my face.

He didn't even do anything, just barely touch my skin and sparks were flying and I felt heat rush up to my cheeks. My breath hitched as I watched him watch me. When he let down his hand, I could feel it as though he had burnt his hand onto my cheek.

Never washing that cheek, now are you? A voice in my head cheekily said.

    Definitely.

Wait, what? No! Yes I'm washing it.

"You know what's annoying about you?" whispered Dipper, in a pained voice. It was supposed to be an insult, but it seems that when he touched my cheek the faintest bit, I knew something was wrong. He put a sleeping spell on me and everything was drifting away.

The trees in the background were growing darker, but the noises were growing fainter, and the only thing I could see was Dipper, with a pained and hurt face that rippled across his handsome features.

"Is that you're a flame," he whispered, as his strong arms wrapped around my waist as he held me in a secure grip and his eyes glowed an icy blue. Everything went dark then, and deep sleep enveloped me in a warm, cozy blanket.

  ◄ Dipper Gleeful

When I held her in my arms, I felt my heart fluttering. And that isn't normal for the crazy, murderous and dangerous male Gleeful twin. I shook my head, and watched her peacefully sleep in the sleep spell I put her under.

"You're a flame that burns too bright, and flames like that only live a short period of time," I whispered to her.

"You don't know what you're getting into," I said in a quiet tone, very well aware that she was asleep and won't even know that I said this.

"You're surrounded in a world of darkness, and when you burn too bright, you might as well go down, burning everything with you," I said, looking up to the night sky as I slowly lifted her up and floated above the highest tree tops.

"But another case might be that you burn too bright, and you see too much and when you see too much, it makes you go insane," I scoffed and laughed coldly. "I know this by personal experience, sweetheart."

It really does make you go insane.
