01. The Tent of Telepathy

◄ Pacifica Pines

"Are you completely miserable? Then you need to meet... Dipper and Mabel!" the soothing voice cried out. This advertisement was the one that Gideon and Bud had warned me about, I thought as curiosity trickled through me. Maybe I should check it out, who Dipper and Mabel are, I thought, getting up quickly.

The name 'Mabel' was familiar but I just couldn't pin my finger on it. I quickly shook the thought away, and grabbed my bag, shoving the Journal I had found the other day inside.

It was a creepy journal. How? When I skimmed through it, trying to figure out its use or even what it was meant for, it had these sketches of monsters, and notes on how to destroy them.

     Weird, am I right?

I quickly got out of the basement and climbed up the stairs. Once I reached the exit out of the Mysterious Shack, Gideon chose the perfect time to roll over to me and ask me to take him with me.

"Where are you going? Can I come? Does Dad know? Are you running away? Are you sneaking out of the house without me?" said Gideon, looking up to me, his eyes round and soft.

"Somewhere secret, and no, no, no, and no!" I said, raking my fingers through my blonde hair. Gideon's eyebrows pulled together, a frown forming on his pale, round face.

"Pwease?" he said, his eyes wider than before, and this time he was holding his hands together. I glared at him but I knew my defense was melting.

"Fine! Just try not to make noise, and be quick," I said, grabbing the cold handle of the door and finally getting out. I heard Gideon scurry beside me as I walked using the map I had mugged from the Gift Shop.

"Okay, so this way... take a right... go through the patch of pine trees... hmm... find the three ducklings... and we're here!" I said, looking up.

It had taken a mere 5 minutes but I had no idea where we were now. I looked around me, we were in a parking lot. There must be something famous here, judging by the amount of cars parked.

"It's over there!" cried Gideon, who had walked further away and was pointing at something. I quickly jogged over to him, curious as to what he had found.

It was a tiny looking tent, surrounded by cars parked on grass. The tent was blue, with two white pillars holding it up with a colorful star on top of it, which had an eye on it.

"Wow, it looks evil," I said, grinning, "I hate it already," I said, taking another step and walked towards the tent.

Gideon shouted a 'wait for me!' but I had already reached the entrance. There was a man with a fez and a black suit, and the interesting thing about him was that he had a smile that took up half of his face.

"Come on, folks! Get right up there folks! Put yo' money in Dipper and Mabel's psychic sack!" he said cheerfully, thrusting the bag into my face. I awkwardly put a wad of cash and grabbed Gideon's plump arm and dragged him inside with me.

It was dark, the lights were turned off. People were quiet, almost like they were waiting for the show to start. Well, obviously they are, I thought.

We better hurry, I thought, rushing to the only empty spots which were at the back. Gideon scurried after me and sat down next to me.

"Wow, this is like a bizzaro version of the Mystery Shack," I said, looking around as we waited for the show, "They even have their own Deuce!" Gideon turned and gaped at the doppelgänger of Deuce.

The lights were fading out, darkness inking into the tent as we waited in anticipation for the show to start. Suddenly, the blue curtains were pulled open and a girl with long brown hair had her back to the audience.

She turned around to face the audience, with a mischievous blinding grin.

She was dressed in a button up blue shirt, which was tucked in her high waisted black slacks, and a black bow with a green glowing gem to top it off, and she was also wearing high heels.

"Welcome ladies, and gentlemen!" she said, in a loud voice. A cup of tea floated towards her, and she grabbed it delicately, sipping it in a lady-like manner.

"The show's about to start," she said, winking at the audience, but I had a feeling she was winking at the person next to me. She exited the stage and I quickly looked at a red-faced Gideon.

"She winked at me... She winked at me..." he was whispering feverishly. I let out a small giggle and quickly faced the stage, where the curtains were drawn closed again.

Faint drums were beginning, and building up as well as the anticipation which was in the atmosphere. The curtains drew open very quickly and a tall boy had a hand to his hip.

He had messy brown, what-seemed-like-soft hair, which looked like he rolled out of bed. He was wearing a black vest over a light blue shirt, and a cape that was dark blue flowed behind him.

He was wearing a very similar gem which Mabel had been wearing except it was on his belt. It glistened underneath the white light which shone on him. He had a devilish grin, and faced the audience.

"I would like a volunteer," he said coolly, his voice smooth and perfect. It wasn't deep nor did it sound like a twelve year old. It was just right. I immediately shoved that thought out of my head.

They're our rivals! Robbing us of our costumers! I chanted in my head.

His icy blue eyes skimmed through the audience, only to land on mine. We stared at each other for what seemed an eternity. My heart thundered, and it was all I could hear. His grin slightly morphed into a lopsided smirk, with an evil glint in his eye.

"You," he said, pointing straight at me.
